Carr threw for 101 yards on 15-of-26 passing (3.9 yards per attempt) with an interception before sitting the final drive. Derek Carr, 2 Raiders most to blame for Week 8 loss vs. Saints (ClutchPoints)

The Las Vegas Raiders finally seemed to be recovering from their slow start to the 2022 season in Week 7 with a nice victory over the Houston Texans.

The Raiders struggles as a whole don’t fall squarely on his shoulders, but Carr hasn’t been good for Las Vegas so far this season, and his outing in Week 8 will raise some serious questions moving forward. He’s been a huge disappointment for the Raiders all season long, and that was especially clear here in Week 8. But Jones has been a nonfactor all season long, and it’s finally beginning to destroy the Raiders. So far in his tenure with Las Vegas, that simply hasn’t happened, and it will need to change moving forward if the Raiders want their fortunes to change. [bad in every aspect of the game](https://clutchpoints.com/raiders-news-derek-carr-las-vegas-get-ultimate-clowning-after-embarrassing-0-24-loss/) on Sunday afternoon, and there was no shortage of disappointing performances in this one. But everything came crashing down around them in Week 8 against the New Orleans Saints, as the Raiders were shut out and ended up losing to the Saints

The Las Vegas Raiders' hiring of Josh McDaniels looks worse each ... (For The Win)

The Las Vegas Raiders are, by most accounts, a disaster. The Raiders sit in the basement of an AFC West that features broken Russell Wilson and a Chargers ...

After six game winning drives in 2021 — again, a season in which Rich Bisaccia was head coach for the bulk of the season — Carr only has one in 2022 and it came against the Texans. No team in the league is allowing opposing QBs to record a higher passer rating, which includes big performances from Dalton, Davis Mills and Kyler Murray. A pass rush that can be mostly described as “MAXX CROSBY” blitzes on more than a quarter of its snaps but has an 18 percent pressure rate that ranks 25th in the NFL. That creates a strange world in which Carr has a better supporting cast and is less efficient than he was last year. “If you’re going to point a finger, point it at me. The veteran QB was sacked three times and hit nine more thanks in large part to New Orleans’ coverage. When asked to step up in the pocket and extend plays, uh … His three seconds from snap to throw, on average, was the fifth-highest mark of Week 8. Nearly halfway into the 2022 season, Las Vegas is 2-5 — the same record as a Cleveland Browns team forced to start Jacoby Brissett for the first 11 games of the season. By those powers combined, his Raiders were shut out 24-0 against the New Orleans Saints on a day where Derek Carr failed to lead even a single drive beyond midfield. This is a stunning turnaround for a team trying to build its first postseason streak in two decades. The coach hired to oversee it all?

Superdown: Raiders' progress halted in New Orleans with shutout loss (Las Vegas Sun)

Josh McDaniels slowly backpedaled and scratched his head as a Derek Carr pass wobbled towards the sideline closer to him than it was to anyone on the field.

“We have to do much better obviously in every phase of the game to be able to compete with a team that’s well-coached, has good players and obviously came ready to play and did a much better job than we did,” McDaniels said. “So hopefully, we can go in here, get better, have a good week of practice, get around the guys and come together as a team.” The Raiders have a lot of problems, but taking accountability isn’t among them as the players virtually lined up to self-flagellate for their performances. “We’re so much better than that but we didn’t earn that today,” Carr said. The Raiders will be attempting to fix it at IMG Academy in Sarasota, Fla., where they traveled directly after the game. We didn’t do anything offensively to help us get back in the game but there was no quit in the football team.” Raiders owner Mark Davis fired Allen — known as “DA” to all his current and former players — four games into the season, and tensions have simmered ever since. Carr was sacked three times and hit on six more occasions in a day where the Raiders’ offensive line regressed after “We can’t have that, ever…That should never happen, especially with the group of guys in that locker room.” Losing is no foreign concept to the Raiders, which fell to 2-5 on the year, but they had been highly competitive in every other game this season. “Obviously I’ve got to do a better job getting us ready on gameday, but I love the group and think they really band together in the second half. Jacobs was held to a season-low 43 rushing yards, while Adams had one catch for three yards on five targets.

Is Josh McDaniels Comfortable With Losing? Latest From HC Don't ... (The Raider Ramble)

Coming off a completely disheartening shutout loss, Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels spoke on yesterday's events and shared some words.

Instead, McDaniels and Carr had to sit back and watch From the outside, it appears that this was just another loss for McDaniels. Once his tendencies were neutralized, Carr was going to have to carry the offense again. The Raiders’ “offensive genius” was outmaneuvered If you admit that you were outcoached and outplayed in an embarrassingly historic fashion, but you’ll fight to come back this week, maybe McDaniels wouldn’t be receiving so much backlash. If anything, you have to wonder if this current staff is fine with this type of result.

Derek Carr: Raiders Anticipated the Saints' Best (Sports Illustrated)

The Las Vegas Raiders suffered an embarrassing road defeat against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

"And it starts in the week of practice, it starts when you show up to the field. "And him and I, we'll sit down, we'll talk as the leaders and all that kind of stuff and figure that out and put our finger on it. Maybe you like to talk about other sports that aren't Silver and Black related? "Me and Josh [McDaniels], we talk, and we're communicating throughout the game, throughout the week all the time, figuring those things out," Carr said. Want to talk about this? And so you got the mindset to come in and be ready for the physicality, the violent game that they want to play.

A Saints shutout crushed Josh McDaniels and Derek Carr. "It was embarrassing," Carr said in a postgame news conference. "We're so much better than that."

That guy is a hell of a player, one of the best in the league. Sometimes in order to have progress, you have got to have change." Brown has performed as advertised thus far with the Eagles, as he leads the team in targets (64), receptions (39), receiving yards (659) and receiving touchdowns (five). Sidelining De Gea is a testament to Spain’s focus on rebuilding its national team by banking on emerging stars who could become the faces of the national team. According to a report from The Athletic, one of the Wolverines players was defensive back Ja'Den McBurrows and the Michigan coach confirmed Monday that the other was defensive back Gemon Green. The team fought its way to the semifinals before losing to Italy in the final on penalty kicks. The De Gea move marks a switch in roster-building strategy for the Spanish national team. He ranks second on the Bears in both tackles for loss (4) and sacks (2.5). The Harsin error ended with the coach in an ignominious place in Auburn lore. He's the type of coach that would immediately bring excitement to a program that is somehow more dysfunctional than Texas A M. Per Josh Dubow of the Associated Press, Carr's 50.3 passer rating against the Saints was his third-lowest in a game. The season might plummet due to their lack of chemistry.

The Derek Carr-Raiders era might be coming to an end (NFL Spin Zone)

Derek Carr has been the Raiders' franchise quarterback since 2014, but the lack of success during his era might catch up to him this year.

[I think we can rename the Dalton Scale to the Carr Scale.](https://www.nfl.com/news/the-dalton-scale-top-candidates-to-be-prime-meridian-of-qb1s-in-2022-nfl-season) To me, he is the epitome of average. To me, he is as average as they come. However, for the Raiders, that has never been good enough. However, in Carr’s nine years as the Raiders’ starter, the success of the team overall hasn’t been there. Derek Carr has been the Raiders’ franchise quarterback since 2014, but the lack of success during his era might catch up to him this year. The endless amount of roster changes and coaching staffs would have any franchise swirling like a tornado, but Carr has kept them, at worst, somewhat competitive.

McDaniels, Raiders hope to learn from bad loss to Saints (Las Vegas Review-Journal)

The apologetic tone the Raiders took after an embarrassing 24-0 loss to the Saints on Sunday was replaced by a more pragmatic one Monday morning.

We come to work the right way. Carr and the Raiders have talked in those terms a handful of times this season. We need to coach and play better to earn better results.” “Urgency in the meetings, in the walk-through. What happened the day before was unacceptable and embarrassing, to say the least. That set us straight and really taught us a lot of hard lessons.”
