A compelling, sex-centric story · Aubrey Plaza, Jennifer Coolidge, and Meghann Fahy's standout performances · Plenty of visually lush, sun-soaked locations.
That said, based on the overall trajectory it takes over the course of its first five episodes, it seems safe to say that White has already set the stage for The White Lotus’ latest adventure to conclude in an even more explosive and emotionally complex way than the show’s popular first season does. Featuring a handful of standout performances courtesy of Plaza, Coolidge, and Fahy, the season delivers a messy, sexy adventure that, even more so than The White Lotus season 1, often unfolds in ways that are both surprising and intriguing. Of course, at the center of all of The White Lotus season 2’s subplots is money, which creates, ruins, and overly complicates many of the season’s core relationships. Portia and Albie’s friendly but ultimately flat relationship similarly struggles to make much of an impact, so it’s no surprise when White decides to wisely abandon it halfway through The White Lotus season 2. Her slow but sure disintegration is one of the season’s more compelling and engrossing subplots, if only because it allows Plaza to maximize the effect of her usual intensity. The same can be said for much of The White Lotus season 2, which isn’t nearly as cringeworthy or outright farcical as its predecessor. The White Lotus season 1 largely kept its cast within the confines of its central Hawaiian resort and used its setting to explore matters of privilege and wealth in various observant, often cringingly accurate ways. The White Lotus season 2, meanwhile, sees the show relocate from Hawaii to Italy and turn its attention to how wealth can often affect both romance and sex. When they’re introduced in the season’s premiere, all of The White Lotus’ new and returning players are struggling through relationship problems of their own. Throughout the premiere’s remaining minutes, we’re introduced to The White Lotus’ next round of eclectic characters, including Harper (Aubrey Plaza) and Ethan (Will Sharpe), a married duo who have embarked on their first couples’ trip with Ethan’s former college roommate, Cameron (Theo James), and his wife, Daphne (Meghann Fahy). The White Lotus season 2 doesn’t let its new location or story stop it from opening in an extremely reminiscent way. The series, which was made in order to fill a pandemic-shaped hole in HBO’s programming lineup, was never meant to be anything more than a one-time thing for both HBO and its creator-director Mike White.
HBO's 'The White Lotus' is back for its sophomore season. Here's when every episode of 'The White Lotus' season 2 will air.
Season 2 of The White Lotus is 7 episodes in total, one more than Season 1's 6. Evan is the culture editor for Men’s Health, with bylines in The New York Times, MTV News, Brooklyn Magazine, and VICE. The next episode is set to debut on November 6, so be sure you're ready to watch—or risk hearing about whatever petty rich people stuff happens in a spoiler. And we can make sure you know exactly when to watch each episode—so keep reading below. And with it comes an entirely new cast (with the exception of Jennifer Coolidge's hilarious Tanya, whom you cannot possibly blame White for not wanting to let go) that includes people like Aubrey Plaza, Michael Imperioli, Theo James, Haley Lu Richardson, and F. White's series returns as confident as ever, immediately pulling viewers into the lives of a another group of characters who you can't help but be curious about—whether they're somewhat likable or fully detestable.

The only expectation was that they look like “wealthy tourists traveling” — they pulled their picks online by sorting from high to low and Googling “where do the one percent get their swimwear.” You’re so over the top,” she laughs. The season begins with Kay and Keeley chit-chatting with Meghann Fahy’s Daphne about their Italian vacation before Daphne takes a dip in the water — and bumps into a corpse. “I was wiping a fake tear away like I was at a funeral. "The White Lotus" has a new setting and cast, but two familiar faces from Season 1 are back for the next installment of the HBO comedy-drama.
And are you available?' And I was like, 'Are you kidding? but sometimes people are complicated and, you know, they can be many things." In Season 2, it is also revealed that Greg miraculously survived after Tanya paid for his treatment. Greg's return even came as a surprise to the actor who plays him. This time round, audiences will see Tanya in a different light, but with the same chaotic energy. "Sometimes you think, when you take that away, things are going great.
Recap: 'The White Lotus' has invited us to an Italian beach resort in Season 2 — but don't worry: Rich people have problems there, too.
(He slid into her DMs a while back.) They make small talk — she confesses she dreams of going to Los Angeles, where he’s from, but she can’t afford it — but soon the talk turns to action, with Lucia straddling him and untying her dress as we fade to black. Cameron teases Ethan for being a nerdy workaholic — and also points out a dolled-up Lucia and Mia, who snuck past Valentina, as “hookers.” He’s not the only one: Mia has a drink with the piano player and tells him she’s an aspiring singer, but when he tries to pay her for sex, she throws a drink in his face and storms off. Meanwhile, Harper and Ethan share a supremely awkward breakfast with Cameron and Daphne: When Harper says she works in employment law, Cameron sniffs that her entire field of expertise is “a waste of money,” and he and Daphne seem oblivious to Harper’s concerns about the state of the world. Things between Harper and Cameron get more awkward when he goes up to her hotel room to get a swimsuit, telling her how he hopes they can be friends… So Tanya orders her to “get lost” but also “stay close” (?) before suggesting she just stay in her hotel room for the whole trip. We don’t get to know that yet, of course: We then flash back to a week earlier with the guests arriving in Sicily by boat: Daphne and her chiseled husband Cameron (Theo James), joined by another couple, Harper (Aubrey Plaza) and Ethan (Will Sharpe); Dominic (Michael Imperioli), a film producer traveling with his elderly dad Bert (F.
The ensemble cast of 'White Lotus' season two is giving season one's hotel guests a run for their money.
She will not stand for Rocco flirting in the lobby, for sex workers meeting customers in the hotel, or for an inadequate amount of Prosecco for her guests. Ah, to be wealthy and aggressively unsympathetic to the point of pure bliss. Take it from Cameron and his wife, Daphne—who admitted to not paying attention to the news or voting—ignorance is bliss. To be fair, it does seem obvious that Ethan’s former college roommate, Cameron, is just trying to take advantage of Ethan’s newfound wealth—and invited Ethan and Harper on the trip to pitch some investment opportunities. Season one of Lotus was known for its strong, eclectic ensemble cast, and season two is proving to follow along in the footsteps of its predecessor in that regard as well. [Negroni Sbagliato](https://www.wmagazine.com/culture/emma-darcy-house-of-the-dragon-negroni-sbagliato-with-prosecco-tiktok), though), and she must be forced to even take the glass for a cheers (it’s called optics, hun).

While every new character has their own unique and hilarious personality traits, I want to focus on a trio who looks like they’re going to be a highlight of the second season. Bert is addicted to flirting with women who could be his great-granddaughters, Dominic has a broken marriage, and Albie’s just trying to keep his sanity amongst the family drama. All of these components make The White Lotus a near-perfect mashup of anthology qualities, with themes and textures easily translatable to a whole new cast of characters set against the backdrop of a setting thousands of miles away from the first season. Coolidge is in phenomenal form once again, somehow making the audience sympathize with a selfish millionaire boomer who would typically be the face of the Karen stereotype, making us see her as a misunderstood middle-aged woman looking for her purpose. Freaked out by the circumstances, she alerts the hotel staff, and the audience gets an intimate preview of what type of resort this is. The first season (which was originally supposed to be a stand-alone miniseries) featured some of the best acting of 2021, with performances by Jennifer Coolidge and Murray Bartlett taking home Emmy wins.
After more than a year since 'The White Lotus' ended on HBO, Season 2 of the anthology series premiered on the cable network with a whole new setting.
Mía and Lucía end up sneaking into the White Lotus as “hookers” and end up knocking on Dominic’s hotel room door. The couples have a hard time connecting with each other and end up talking about the type of television shows they each like to watch. Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge) is also seen arriving and alongside her husband, Greg (Jon Gries) are the only characters that cross over from the first season. In a call back to Season 1, we see the hotel employees wave at the guests as they approach the docking station — a White Lotus tradition. However, something in the water scares her off and she swims back to shore as quickly as possible. The location from Hawaii was changed to Sicily but the mystery that trapped viewers in the first season is back and gloomier than ever.
HBO's best comedy kicks off Season 2 with wild drama—as we've come to expect. But a season premiere with this much genitalia?! Oh boy.
- Nonno Bert Di Grasso: Poor gramps takes a bad fall in the beginning of the episode, leading to the meet cute of Albie and Portia, who hit it off. - Cameron Babcock: Daphne is alone on the beach in the beginning of the episode. - Harper Spiller: Daphne mentions loving Dateline and all the men who kill their wives, a possible hint at something ominous in the future. Cameron and Harper head up to the bedroom to grab Ethan’s swimsuit and some more sunscreen for the table—but instead of changing in the bathroom like a normal person, the dolt shreds his pants RIGHT IN FRONT OF HARPER. Lucia (Simona Tabasco) already has a customer, and Mia (Beatrice Grannò) shows interest in getting involved in the biz. In honor of this massively memorable White Lotus debut, I spoke with some of my colleagues at The Daily Beast’s Obsessed, who were just as shocked as I was upon seeing it. Put that in the hall of fame White Lotus quotes, right next to Sydney Sweeney’s “Maybe grandpa was a power bottom, does that make you feel better?” from Season 1. As always, creator/director/writer Mike White does a fantastic job of introducing us to the bunch. In the very first scene, we meet a very chipper Daphne (Meghann Fahy) on her last day at the resort. And that’s not all: Though they’re not technically guests, a sex worker and her curious best friend prance around the outskirts of the hotel, hungry to seduce the American tourists. In 'The White Lotus' season 2 premiere episode 'Ciao,' a floating corpse is discovered, and other deaths alluded to. So each week we're checking in to ...
Will he kill? Will they be killed? Will she be killed? Will he be killed? Will she kill? Weirdly, I feel like he will survive this trip? He does not seem like a killer to me. But would having her character be a killer be too obvious a choice?? He seems like someone who might commit a panicked, accidental manslaughter and then go about his day and just be like, Bro, these things happen. She lives to find a body! He could be! [The White Lotus](https://www.vulture.com/tv/the-white-lotus/): Someone will kill, and someone(s) will be killed.
Season 2 opens with Daphne (Meghann Fahy) going for a swim on the last day of her holiday in Sicily, when she bumps into a dead body (or part of a body?) and ...
Her reaction to the body (body parts??) floating in the water could mean anything; she appears to collapse when she runs back to the beach, but that’s equally justified for the corpse of a total stranger, vaguely recognizable fellow guest, or her actual husband. His face is impassive bordering on emotionless, with shades of surprise, amusement, and anger — any of which is a red flag in a show where a psychopath has possibly gone on a murderous rampage. And the overly affectionate asshole husband already did a murder in Season 1! Cam might be the guy who everyone looks at when someone brings up “Dateline” wife killers, not to mention that he’s out here flashing his penis around — but those are symptoms primarily of being a douchebag, not a murderer. Her baseline annoyance with Daphne, Cam, and the whole trip could spiral out of control at any minute. But that doesn’t mean she isn’t in danger of physical harm, heartbreak, or whatever other madness the White Lotus Sicily has in store for her. Tanya has mostly kept to herself so far, and her character is the show’s main connective tissue between seasons besides the White Lotus hotels themselves. He and Tanya are now married which means she trusts him, but Tanya isn’t known for her keen judgment. As White Lotus Sicily manager Valentina (Sabrina Impacciatore) learns in the cold open, there are more bodies out there, which sets this death definitively as a murder — unlike Season 1’s arguable accident. Here’s who we think is most likely to die, kill, and survive unscathed in “The White Lotus” Season 2. Wouldn’t be the first time a man took poorly to rejection… The only time Mia’s been alone, she got mistaken for a sex worker by a creepy old man and threw a drink in his face!
Chaos was unleashed when a body was found floating in the water near the luxury resort, The White Lotus, in Sicily. Valentina, the hotel manager, who was.
Greg closed the door in her face, and she was left with the two macarons in her hand. She was in love with him, but he had to return to his wife and children. A Moor (during the Moors’ influence in Sicily) expressed his love for a local girl, and she reciprocated his feelings. Tanya was a loyal client of White Lotus; she was proud of the fact that she was now a Blossom member of the resort. She had always dreamt of spending her time in Sicily with a hot Italian guy, but here she was, forced to stay in her room. She was rather a little annoyed by the fact that her husband, Greg, was not responding to her texts. When Harper went to her room with Cameron to hand him one of Evan’s shorts, she saw him change his clothes right in the middle of the room. Mia was rather shy; she was a musician and loved a boy who did not treat her well. He walked away to the washroom, criticizing Tanya for eating all the macarons and champagne. She was talking to her mother over the phone, expressing how much she hated her job. They did not bicker over what to order for dinner as he and Harper did; they were always in sync. Cameron and Daphne laughed off Harper’s fear of the end of the world.
Season 2 ups the ante with not one but several potential deaths at the scenic Italian resort, and we're taking bets on who it might be.
Going back to the legend of the “moro” and the rage of a scorned woman, we have to keep an eye on the married characters affected by infidelity. We know Daphne makes it all the way to the end of the trip, but why was she on the beach alone without the rest of her party? Either way, we can’t wait to see what Sicily has in store for these characters this season. In between scenes we get images of the rocky coastline and shots that dive under the surface of the water, accompanied by an eerie musical score. We’ve already seen her on her own at the pool and at dinner, so she’s not one for following orders. Last season, we took Shane for a rich, entitled mama’s boy, but we didn’t immediately take him for a killer. Bert Di Grasso is a reasonable candidate for a natural exit—considering he’s 80 years old and took a pretty bad spill—but Rocco used the term “killed,” so it’s more likely foul play than not. Is The White Lotus a particularly deadly hotel chain or does this kind of thing happen all the time and we don’t hear about it? The food is amazing.” Before leaving them to take one last dip in the Ionian sea, she adds without a hint of irony, “You’re going to die. He breaks the news that one of the guests has drowned, but she shrugs it off, noting “the ocean is not hotel property.” But then comes the real bombshell: this isn’t the only body found recently at the resort. First, there’s the legend of the “teste di moro,” a Moor who was beheaded by his lover when she found out he was married with children. They’re going to have to drag you out of here.” Soon after that, Daphne’s last swim is ruined when a dead body comes floating up to the surface, right in front of her.
The bodies are already piling up even if we don't know who they are quite yet.

During a conversation with their vacation mates, Daphne mentions an affinity for enjoying the series [ Dateline](https://www.tvinsider.com/show/dateline/). It’s clear there’s a lot more to uncover as the season continues, but already we have a bad feeling. Murray Abraham](https://www.tvinsider.com/people/f-murray-abraham/)) may be young at heart, but this older guest at the Sicilian-based White Lotus is accident-prone, which could make for a silly death down the line. While Lucia (Simona Tabasco) is blatantly an escort, who quickly gets involved with Dominic by the episode’s end, Mia (Beatrice Grannò) is more interested in securing a spot on the White Lotus’ official staff as a musical performer. [The White Lotus](https://www.tvinsider.com/show/the-white-lotus/) is back and the body count is already huge as the opening moments of the Season 2 premiere episode, “Ciao,” teased multiple fatalities. [Michael Imperioli](https://www.tvinsider.com/people/michael-imperioli/)‘s Dominic Di Grasso, others like fan-favorite Tanya McQuoid ( [Jennifer Coolidge](https://www.tvinsider.com/people/jennifer-coolidge/)) seem to have steadier footing, keeping them off of our death predictions list, below. It’s clear from the premiere episode that Ethan’s actions are often influenced by his wife Harper ( [Aubrey Plaza](https://www.tvinsider.com/people/aubrey-plaza/)) who is fairly controlling. Plains of Yonder's Katrina Crawford and Mark Bashore open up about their creation of the opening title sequence and hints hidden in the art.
“So whether it’s a lamb sitting alone in a field, fighting birds, a boar hunt, or monkeys, the animals are doing a lot of the work to talk about people in a way that even a dog lifting its leg says more than you could with an image of a person.” Make what you will of these clues, but there’s certainly a lot to unpack in the dense credit sequence, which features a reworked theme song with familiar tones from Season 1. As Bashore shares, “there was a particular villa with an artwork style in it that Katrina went to and shot those images. Mike White said ‘I love the Leda.’ And so we engineered that back in,” Bashore says of including the mythology figures into the credits’ paintings. This time around, though, the wallpaper motif has been traded in for Italian Fresco paintings with a little added symbolism for fans to uncover as the season unfolds. Together with White, both Crawford and Bashore helped craft the opening credits sequences for Seasons 1 and Season 2.
Wondering how many episodes of 'The White Lotus' are in Season 2 on HBO and HBO Max? Here's an episode guide.
For the foreseeable future, Sunday will become The White Lotus watch day. Keep reading for a complete episode guide for The White Lotus Season 2: After the success of the first season, we’ve left Hawaii for a new White Lotus hotel, this time in Sicily, to watch the misadventures of an also new group of people.
The White Lotus returns with a fresh new cast of jetsetters, a Sicillian location, and murder(s) to unpack.
It makes for a more nuanced watch as all of the players seem more evenly matched in their boorish behavior which earns them all parity when it comes to the odds of any of them ending up floating dead in the ocean. White seems to push Albie into the toxic masculinity of his family and ask if he will forge new ground or succumb to their legacy as he’s tempted himself. It’s a far slower burn of a cumulative story, but it’s achieving less garish extremes which is welcome in distinguishing this season as an entirely different and worthwhile experience. Plaza is especially good as the bristly cactus of the group who isn’t wrong for having her haunches up in their company. Woven amongst their stories are the adventures of two local young women, Lucia (Simona Tabasco) and Mia (Beatrice Grannò). Lucia has been booked as a prostitute by an incoming guest so she talks Mia into joining her to take advantage of the hotel luxuries during their downtime. When The White Lotus Season 1 came to its heightened, histrionic conclusion, I was among those who wondered if a second season was needed or warranted. As much as I enjoyed the blackly comedic exploration of the rich eating everything good around them, what else was left to tell?

Who will be the killer(s) and victim(s) this season? The girl spent most of her time alone, often out on her balcony tending to her plants and flowers. Later, the girl discovered that her new lover was already married, and was set to head back to his home country to be with his wife and children. On top of this, he never replied to any of her texts while she was traveling to the resort—also blaming that on work. When she puts on lingerie and makes moves on him when she first arrives he says, “What, now?” and stalks out of the room. We can blame this on the creepy statues of heads placed in every room at the White Lotus. Later, she finds two had been moved somewhere else (did he move them?) and when she brings them to him, she hears him whispering on the phone in the bathroom. When they ask why she can’t sleep and whether it’s the stress of her job, she says it’s that but also “everything that’s going on in the world.” When pressed, she’s not sure how to respond. Harper is also annoyed at the public displays of affection Daphne and Cameron constantly assault her eyes with, insisting that it must be fake. I quote her line up at the top of this post because it’s such a perfect line to open this story with. Harper asks Daphne what she does all day if she doesn’t watch the news and she says that she looks after their kids and loves to watch Dateline. In the first episode of the anthology series, a guest of the fancy hotel has drowned.
