Mac Jones and the Patriots hit the road to take on the Jets. Follow along for live scores, updates, and analysis.

12:12: A quick-out to Jakobi Meyers goes for a touchdown and gives the Patriots the lead. 2:00: The Patriots go for it on 4th-and-1 and tried to hit Jakobi Meyers on a play action pass. A 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty on CJ Mosley moves the Patriots forward for a first down. Patriots get the ball back. Things began to unravel for the Jets in the second half. Lawrence Guy sacks Zach Wilson on the Jets’ second down.

Jets tie all-time losing streak mark with loss to Patriots (ESPN)

The New York Jets lost their 13th straight game to the Patriots on Sunday ... and the record could fall later this season.

During that streak, New York has only ever led at halftime twice -- they were up 10-6 at the half Sunday, and led by 10 during Week 9 of the 2020 season. By the numbers, this is tied for the longest string of futility by one team against another in NFL history. [Tom Brady](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/2330/tom-brady)'s 10th career game all the way back in Week 12 of the 2001 season -- the Jets were 2.5-point underdogs.

Inactive Analysis: No Additional Surprise Inactives for the Patriots in ... (Patriots.com)

With the season's grind taking its toll, the Patriots and Jets meet in a key divisional matchup without several starters at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

Although there is a drop-off from a center of Andrews's caliber to any backup, the Iowa product has steadily improved his ability to anchor and take on the bigger bodies in the interior. Ferentz, who has a high football IQ and is the son of Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz, contributes on the sideline as another set of eyes. With the other notable players on the injury report active, there were no additional surprises for the Patriots.

Patriots vs. Jets final score New England beats New York 22-17 (Pats Pulpit)

With Mac Jones starting under center, New England's offense got off to a slow start but did enough as the Patriots' defense recorded three interceptions and ...

After a two-yard run on third-down, New York punted back to New England. Following the two-minute warning, Wilson hit Conklin in the end zone for a nine-yard score. Down inside the five-yard line on fourth-and-one, Jones hit Meyers on a quick hitter in the flat for a touchdown. Down at their own 12-yard line, Wilson hit Mims for a 63-yard catch and run to start the Jets drive. However, a roughing the passing penalty wiped out the play and gave New England 15 yards. At the New York 40-yard line with 42 seconds remaining, Jones found Stevenson out of the backfield for a 15-yard gain. Facing a fourth-and-one from the New York 22-yard line, Jones’ pass fell incomplete to end a 13-play, 70-yard drive. The Patriots were able to overcome being behind the sticks as Jones hit Jakobi Meyers on third-down on a crosser for 16-yard conversion. On a following third-down, Wilson again extended the play outside the pocket and found Garrett Wilson downfield for a 54-yard gain. The Jets started the second quarter with a touch pass to Garrett Wilson who broke off a 23-yard run. New England faced an early third-down on their next drive which Jones found Stevenson out of the backfield for 22 yards. New England’s defense held strong to start the game forcing a quick three-and-out.

Patriots mount second-half win over Jets: How Zach Wilson's ... (The Athletic)

The New England Patriots snapped the New York Jets' four-game win streak on Sunday at MetLife Stadium, mounting a second-half comeback to beat the Jets ...

The Patriots’ passing defense was stellar again. He threw passes that were nearly interceptions, including one pick-six that was called back due to Franklin-Myers’ roughing the passer penalty. With a chance to show that this is his job and his alone as the Patriots’ starting quarterback, Jones struggled. They scored in the fourth quarter — but it was too little, too late. John Franklin-Myers’ roughing the passer penalty in the second quarter swung the game. His aversion to throwing the ball cost the Jets a chance to finally beat the Patriots, who looked very beatable most of the day.

Four Takeaways From Patriots' Much-Needed Win Over Jets (NESN.com)

The Patriots entered Sunday's game sorely needing a win over the AFC East rival Jets. They got one, winning 22-17 at MetLife Stadium.

Starting wideout DeVante Parker suffered a knee injury on the Patriots’ first offensive snap and did not return, with the team officially ruling him out after halftime. Marcus Jones — largely a nonfactor since taking over as the top punt returner — broke one for 32 yards, with Peppers planting a Jets player into the turf to spring him. Trailing 10-3 at the time with three timeouts remaining, they opted to run the ball three times, take a knee and kick a field goal — a telling indictment of their trust in Jones in that situation. Franklin-Myers was flagged for roughing the passer, and the Patriots retained possession. New York’s first touchdown came after back-to-back miscues by Jabrill Peppers and Joshuah Bledsoe, who were playing larger defensive roles in the absence of injured safety Kyle Dugger. Jones, though, was not blameless for the Patriots’ offensive deficiencies, and one decision by the quarterback late in the second quarter nearly proved disastrous for the Patriots. He appeared to have expected receiver Jakobi Meyers to break outward, not inward, on the play, but Carter would have been lurking in that spot regardless. The Jets totaled six sacks into the game, including a third-quarter strip-sack that New England was able to recover. They failed to find the end zone despite starting two of their first five drives in New York territory, settling for a pair of Nick Folk field goals. After that, they’ll have their bye week and a home rematch with the Jets, setting up a realistic path to playoff contention in the AFC. The biggest culprit for these struggles was the offensive line, which was simply overwhelmed by the Jets’ talented front seven. How did the Patriots’ offense look in the first half of this game?

The Bears probably can’t count on consistent production from Harry, who only has caught five-plus passes in a game three times in his NFL tenure of three-plus seasons. NFL Week 8: Instant analysis from Patriots' 22-17 win over Jets (Pats Pulpit)

The New England Patriots outlasted the New York Jets by a score of 22-17 Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium. Head coach Bill Belichick's side now stands at ...

Harris drew the start and rushed for 37 yards on 11 carries, including a long of 11. Stevenson rotated into the lead role and rushed for 71 yards on 16 carries, including a long of 35. And while the second-and-10 calls to the ground game went without much movement early on, New England’s tandem would average an even 4.0 yards per on Sunday. Rookie cornerback and punt returner Marcus Jones also helped the cause on special teams. The April signing flew around for a team-high eight tackles, including one for loss, and was penalized for unnecessary roughness on Jets running back Michael Carter. Without the top choice from the organization’s 2020 draft class, who stands with an interception and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown this campaign, versatility got the call. He remained a non-participant through the quick turnaround to the Jets before being After the opening drive brought a three-and-out, Wilson evaded the pocket to find tight end Tyler Conklin for a first down and then wide receiver Garrett Wilson for 54 yards and another. The Patriots went 6-for-19 on third down and 1-for-2 on fourth down. Jabrill Peppers started in the nickel package. It was also seen as Jets defensive end Bryce Huff hit home at the release point on a turnover. And what would have been a pick-six instead became roughing the passer.

Fireworks Ahead as Jets Battle Patriots at MetLife on Sunday (newyorkjets.com)

WR Corey Davis Inactive; D'Brickashaw Ferguson to Be Inducted into Ring of Honor at Halftime Ceremony.

With "Brick" on the roster from 2006-15 — as well as C Nick Mangold and CB Darrelle Revis, other stars on the roster of that period who are Ring of Honor inductees this season — the Jets defeated the Patriots seven times. Hall is gone but an RB group led by Michael Carter and Ty Johnson and newly acquired James Robinson are ready to probe the Patriots' run defense. They are eager to try to open a three-game lead on the Patriots for the first time since the 2000 season. Yet the Green & White will be without rookie phenom RB Breece Hall and versatile second-year OL Alijah Vera-Tucker for the rest of the year after they suffered injuries at Denver. Overall, QB Zach Wilson (backed up for the first time by Mike White with Joe Flacco inactive) and the Jets are on concurrent four-game win streaks. It's not that the Patriots are looming large as usual in the division.

5 takeaways from the Patriots' win over the Jets (Boston.com)

The Patriots got Bill Belichick his 325th career win by defeating the Jets. Takeaways include Mac Jones, the defense, and Nick Folk.

Measuring his loss in the lineup is difficult to fully quantify, but the overall inconsistency from New England’s offensive line on Sunday is probably testament to Andrews’s importance to the team (both in terms of leadership and ability). He played inconsistently in the first half at tackle, allowing a sack (the fifth consecutive game in which he’s done that). For yet another week, Rhamondre Stevenson led the Patriots in total yards. Unfortunately for Jones and the Patriots offense, Cannon proved no better. It was, after all, the Patriots’ 13th consecutive win against the Jets. In the end, he was only able to get the latter, but both he and Patriots fans will take it for now. Carter promptly ran the ball back for what seemed to be a touchdown, but the play was called back due to a roughing the passer call on Jets defensive end John Franklin-Myers. He committed multiple penalties and was beaten by Jets defensive lineman Quinnen Williams for a sack on Jones. He was sent to the bench for a time in favor of veteran Marcus Cannon. Had even one of those plays worked out slightly differently, the game might have finished with a different outcome. Two plays after a Zach Wilson interception, New England’s offense had the ball at the Jets’ 25-yard line with just 37 seconds remaining in the half. [blindside hit](https://www.boston.com/sports/new-england-patriots/2022/10/26/david-andrews-hit-concussion-mike-pennel/) in Week 7, [missed the game](https://www.boston.com/sports/new-england-patriots/2022/10/28/patriots-david-andrews-christian-barmore-kyle-dugger-kendrick-bourne-injury-updates-jets/) as he remains in the league’s protocol.

Sunday Patriots Notes: Rumors picking up steam ahead of NFL ... (Pats Pulpit)

Kendrick Bourne addresses the trade rumors. The trade wins are blowing in the NFL and New England, and one of the players repeatedly mentioned to possibly be on ...

The Patriots’ game against the Chicago Bears on Monday was a disappointment from top to bottom, with one of the worst moments coming in the fourth quarter. The 30-year-old remains in concussion protocol and has been ruled out for the game against the Jets. I think it’s a reflection on the people that have supported me and propped me up over the course of my career. He has missed just 19 possible games through his career and has appeared in every contest going back to the 2017 playoffs. The injury is obviously a tough development for the former rookie free agent and his new club; it also will impact his old one, though. I’m not looking to be the stat guy, just trying to be in a position to help the team win, and I’ve always been that way. Patriots can tie the longest active winning against a single opponent in the NFL. The Patriots are hungry to bounce back in Week 8. The Chiefs and Broncos still have two games against one another on their schedule, though. “If that’s what the coaches think they want to do and they think that’s what’s best, I’m on that wave. A disappointing summer that included him getting tossed from one practice and subsequently arriving late for the preseason game against the 1, so naturally there is a lot going on around the league right now.

Did You Know?, Part II: This is the first time since 2001 that the Jets (5-2) enter a matchup against the Patriots (3-4) with the better record, which breaks a streak of 40 games, the second longest in a head-to-head matchup in NFL history. It was a history timely to revisit this week, with the Patriots’ punting/coverage unit struggling and Berrios thriving with the Jets (fourth in the NFL in punt return average, 12.9 yards). Bringing up undrafted rookie [Kody Russey](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/4040430/kody-russey) (Houston) from the practice squad adds another layer of depth. He said this week, a key has been playing more of his natural position -- outside linebacker -- on the line of scrimmage. The best-case scenario for the Patriots is that Bailey works his way out of a slump, because he’s also the holder on field goals and has developed a solid rapport with snapper [Joe Cardona](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/2575907/joe-cardona) and kicker [Nick Folk](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/10621/nick-folk). Also gone are the days of seeing his jovial side with “Win With Wynn” Wednesdays on social media.

Zach Wilson and the Jets Stall Against the Patriots Once Again (The New York Times)

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — About an hour before kickoff Sunday at MetLife Stadium, fireworks boomed. With the Jets on a four-game win streak, and about to play ...

The Jets’ record entering this game, 5-2, was their best start to the season since 2010, when a stingy defense powered a team reliant on a strong running game. It was the cascade of bad events that Jets fans have come to expect as inevitable, bringing the team back to reality. The Jets missed a 45-yard field goal on the following drive. But on Sunday, the team reverted to an all-too familiar outcome: A 22-17 loss to the Patriots, the Jets’ 13th-straight defeat to their division opponent. But then Wilson threw his first interception, a bad mistake in which he passed off his back foot and sailed the ball on third-and-2 near midfield. Through Week 7, the Jets had done things this season that the franchise hadn’t in years: Win a game in the month of September.

Zach Wilson's meltdown vs. Patriots raises questions about long ... (NFL.com)

After getting an up-close look at the Jets' loss to the Patriots on Sunday, Judy Battista writes that Gang Green has a quarterback problem.

But Sunday's meltdown -- which included one interception when Wilson was [trying to throw the ball away](https://www.nfl.com/videos/zach-wilson-s-reckless-sideline-pass-ends-with-int-by-mccourty), and another when he was pressing [to try to make a play](https://www.nfl.com/videos/devin-mccourty-reads-the-eyes-of-zach-wilson-for-second-int-of-the-quarter) -- came in the biggest game of the Jets' season so far, against a hated rival, with a chance to make a leap not just in the standings, but in the psychological warfare with the Patriots. The Jets have time before they have to decide if Wilson is the long-term solution at quarterback and, ironically, the Patriots might still have to make that decision about Jones, too. He was asked about his trajectory and the second-year leap and he responded that he didn't care about stats. "We've got to figure out a way to help him. Saleh guessed that overall the penalty led to a 10-point swing, maybe 17 points. In the three weeks prior to Sunday, Wilson wasn't the problem, but he also wasn't the solution. The New England Patriots showed incredible resilience in going on the road and knocking off the New York Jets on Sunday.

[October 30, 2022] [@nyjets]And as we already knew, this is what happens if you have to rely on Wilson to win a game with his arm. Maybe a GREAT laugh! You must be Bill…BELLY CHECK!” and then I’d tickle that big ol’ belly and we’d have a good laugh! [October 30, 2022] So it could end up being a key win with the team trying to stay afloat in a crowded AFC East division. It was a gritty win for a Patriots team looking to bounce back after a difficult Monday night loss against the Chicago Bears.

Patriots get much-needed win vs. Jets, but Mac Jones still needs to ... (The Athletic)

Jones notched a vital road victory over the Jets, temporarily quieting doubters. But the Pats will need better play from him going forward.

[Isaiah Wynn](https://theathletic.com/nfl/player/isaiah-wynn-OxwWWEXKNDWTCizb/) was so bad that he was replaced by [Marcus Cannon](https://theathletic.com/nfl/player/marcus-cannon-phKZKTf5mPsJQM3U/). Then [Cole Strange](https://theathletic.com/nfl/player/cole-strange-3MOSxSJp4POA2waP/) was so bad that he was replaced by Wynn. In the locker room afterward, Patriots players insisted this could be a meaningful win even with the occasional struggles from Jones and the offense. And the [22-17 victory](https://theathletic.com/nfl/game/new-england-patriots-vs-new-york-jets/YNaviAMrGVyEgKuO/) buys Jones a bit more time amid questions about his grip on the starting job. [Patriots’ win here Sunday](https://theathletic.com/3745261/2022/10/30/patriots-jets-nfl-week-8/) was so much more important than a standard October visit to face the [Jets](https://theathletic.com/nfl/team/jets/). [Patriots fans chant the name](https://theathletic.com/3727697/2022/10/25/patriots-jones-zappe-qb-belichick/) of his backup and celebrate when he was benched. And then there was the game-changing play that wasn’t. He threw an interception when he failed to step up in the pocket and had his arm knocked as he released the ball. It kept the [Patriots](https://theathletic.com/nfl/team/patriots/) in the playoff hunt. That probably goes for everyone on the Patriots offense beyond Jones can celebrate the team success that came Sunday. He was overlooked out of high school, forced to wait his turn in college and chosen after four other quarterbacks in the 2021 NFL Draft.

I’m super happy that we won, but we’re always going to try to look at the things we can do better, and that’s what we’re going to do. Just have to continue to do that, and like I said, it starts in practice. Jones said the team did “extra things” that showed up on the field in an effort to grow together. “I’ve got to get the ball out [before] some of those sacks and stuff, so it’s not all one person or one thing,” Jones told reporters after the game.

except that John Franklin-Myers was flagged for roughing the passer with a late hit after the throw, bringing the play back and setting up the visitors for one last try for a first-half-ending score. Wilson was ready with a touchdown pass, his first since Game 4 at Pittsburgh, an 8-yard zinger to Conklin at the left pylon for a 10-3 lead. But on fourth-and-5, Wilson led TE Tyler Conklin just a little too far in the end zone to turn the ball over with 8:49 to play. Another Wilson pick off a throw with his feet unset, with old Jet slayer Devin McCourty returning 36 yards to the Jets 37. The Jets had hit the midgame doldrums and were threatening to fade away to their 13th consecutive loss to their AFC East foes. With 1:51 to play, the Jets scored on Wilson's second scoring strike of the day to TE Tyler Conklin, a 9-yarder into the back of the end zone.

Winners and losers in Patriots' 22-17 road win over Jets (Patriots Wire)

Here's a look at the winners and losers in the New England Patriots' Week 8 victory over the New York Jets.

When the team couldn’t rely on receivers to make plays, it was Stevenson that stepped up and took over the game. His experience and leadership combined with the ability to still go out there and make plays is invaluable. He went a perfect 5-of-5 kicking and accounted for 16 of the Patriots’ 22 points in the game. There may come a time when Rhamondre Stevenson’s name is mentioned among the best running backs in the league. That alone made the game a big success for the Patriots. There were ghosts, ghouls, goblins and Jets quarterback Zach Wilson throwing away three interceptions against an angry Patriots defense that came to play on Sunday.

The former Alabama All-American played his first full game since sustaining an ankle injury on Sept. 25.

[Jones said](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7borEZ28R14), “and if we continue to do that, we’ll see better results. That’s what a quarterback’s job is is to help the team win. I thought the process is there, I’m just super-happy to be a part of this and want to continue to grow here. I think that’s something they’re doing a great job of, and that obviously benefits us in the second half, and we were able to go down there and move the ball. “We talked about it, and they’ve done a good job all year of adjusting at halftime. Three field goals followed before the Jets scored again. [Jones said](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7borEZ28R14). NFL Rumors: How Patriots Feel About Potential Mac Jones Trade (NESN.com)

There appears to be some maneuvering when it comes to the Patriots' reported stance on a potential Mac Jones trade.

The Patriots won, but Jones likely didn’t win over many of the people who’ve written him off over the last month. “And the response I got was, ‘Haha — GTFO (get the f–k out).’ … However, Jones, who was sacked six times and under pressure all afternoon, easily could’ve thrown a few more interceptions, including a throw that should’ve gone for a pick-six late in the first half.
