Bears vs. Cowboys: Everything we know about Chicago's Week 8 loss (Chicago Bears Wire)

The Chicago Bears had a blowout loss, 49-29, against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Chicago has now lost four of their last five games.

The Bears are 1-0 against the AFC East this season, and they will look to add to that with a win at Soldier Field. Parsons picked up the ball and was on the ground, while Justin Fields, instead of touching him down, jumped over him. That play was the story of Chicago’s undisciplined play on Sunday. The game got as close as 28-23 before the Cowboys took over. Lack of Defensive Efficiency: The Bears defense was less than efficient in Sunday’s loss to the Cowboys. This was the second time this season that the Bears lost by more than one possession.

Bears fall to Cowboys in high-scoring game | Game Recap (ChicagoBears.com)

The Bears offense held its own Sunday in Dallas, but the defense struggled throughout a 49-29 loss to the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium.

The 13-play, 75-yard drive was fueled by a 15-yard run from Jones on a sweep, a 17-yard completion to Mooney and a 12-yard run by Fields. On the first play of the Cowboys' ensuing drive, Jackson came up with a timely takeaway to give the Bears another scoring opportunity just before halftime. The drive nearly ended on the first play as Herbert appeared to fumble with Dallas recovering the ball, but the call was overturned after the replay showed that Herbert fumbled the ball initially, but re-established possession before his knee was down. [N'Keal Harry](/team/players-roster/n-keal-harry/) for a 17-yard touchdown to get the Bears within 28-14. Following halftime, the Bears defense forced Dallas' first punt of the game with a three-and-out, leading to a 12-yard touchdown run by Herbert, which closed the gap to 28-23 with 9:42 left in the third quarter. On second-and-6 from the 11, running back Malik Davis caught a short pass and appeared to reach the end zone, but the call was overturned as he stepped out of bounds at the 1-yard line. Dallas extended their lead to 21-7 as Pollard ran up the middle for an 18-yard touchdown run with 10:50 remaining in the half. On second-and-3, Fields executed a designed run play, running off left tackle and finding the end zone with just over a minute into the second quarter. Prescott's 21-yard touchdown pass to receiver CeeDee Lamb put Dallas up 14-0 with 5:19 left in the first quarter. Running back Tony Pollard fueled the drive with 26 rushing yards and a 16-yard catch. But a 7-yard score by running back Tony Pollard followed by linebacker Micah Parsons' touchdown on a fumble recovery put the game out of reach. However, Pollard led the game with 131 yards on 14 carries and three touchdown runs.

Why Chicago Bears' Loss To Cowboys Went Exactly As Hoped (sportsmockery.com)

Losing in a blowout is worse. The Chicago Bears have suffered that indignity twice in 2022, falling 27-10 to Green Bay in Week 2 and 49-29 to the Dallas Cowboys ...

The That is the sign of a good quarterback. The obvious challenge is achieving those goals. While the blowout win in New England was fun, this is still a rebuilding team. The truth is far different. Losing in a blowout is worse.

The Chicago Bears find a way to win despite the loss to Dallas (BearGoggles)

The Chicago Bears are not a good football team. However, there are signs of development and improvement as Justin Fields wins despite a loss to the Cowboys.

Here is the thing though, if you want to look at how this game was played, there is a moral victory to be had. The Bears have not had luck in this area. The defensive front needs to be upgraded. The offensive line needs to be upgraded. The win over the Patriots was nice, but this team has a long way to go. The wide receivers need to be upgraded.

'That's my fault.' How Justin Fields' mental error after David ... (Chicago Tribune)

Simple mistakes. Big ramifications. That's how the Chicago Bears loss to the Dallas Cowboys must be filed away.

And now we have to look ourselves in the mirror and play Chicago Bear defense.” And you have to do that down in and down out.” I think that was the most points (the Cowboys) let up this year.” “Every performance stands alone by itself,” Eberflus said. We have to trust ourselves and trust our teammates. I think it’s starting to open up some things.” But the ball kept getting outside.” “You just never know what happens on the football field.” The Cowboys converted 9 of 11 third-down attempts, none bigger than a third-and-1 with 10 minutes, 46 seconds remaining. That was big.” “I told our players, ‘Guys, we’re going to look at the tape and we’re going to see it,’” Eberflus said. “That’s my fault for just hopping over him,” Fields said.

Ryan Poles Deserves Some Blame in Loss (Bear Maven)

Whether it's the secondary, the run defense, the coaching or even the front office, the Chicago Bears' blowout loss in Dallas had blame for many to share.

Neither team had a chance to do much in the kicking, return or coverage game as it was basically a wash. Luke Getsy props up the grade with a brilliant scheme for getting the ground game going again against a very fast defense, and for getting the ball downfield in the passing game. In this case, it could have cut down on the emotional wallop or allowed more time to recover from it. This was the kind of run defense they showed early in the season. What has happened is they get dissected in the air by veteran passers and then when they make adjustments they leave their run defense exposed. Kindle Vildor had enjoyed three straight strong efforts but the Cowboys exposed him, and they capitalized on Jaquan Brisker's inexperence sproadically throughout the game. It happened against Minnesota and in this one, as well as a few others to some extent. This one had all the makings of a game when the running attack would get shut down because they were starting backups Riley Reiff and Michael Schofield on the line. This could have been an A as well, if not for a dropped Velus Jones attempt to reach out for a beautiful deep ball from Justin Fields, and a Fields underthrow to open Equanimeous St. It was their third straight 200-yard game and fourth of the season. They are mirroring the Philadelphia Eagles offense of 2021, in Nick Sirianni's first season. They find a way to run it no matter what, it seems.

Did Eddie Jackson Just Call Out Teammates For Being Lazy? (sportsmockery.com)

The Chicago Bears defense had played some consistently good football in recent weeks. That ended abruptly on Sunday in Dallas, where the Cowboys racked up ...

Maybe it’s the consequences of being a young team. Maybe Eddie Jackson should’ve kept his frustration out of the media. His words after the game showcased his frustration. The last thing the Bears could afford was lots of small mistakes against a talented offense on the road. So it’s easy to understand why he was frustrated after the game ended. He was the only one making plays.
