Minnesota Timberwolves Weekly: Week 1 NBA Recap (Canis Hoopus)

Their offseason acquisition Rudy Gobert played limited minutes after a prolonged FIBA run with France, and Karl-Anthony Towns battled another severe illness; ...

They have yet to look like a cohesive group, but it is still extremely early in the process. So far, Gobert has feasted on rebounds as he leads the league in offensive rebounds per game (6.3), is tied for first in defensive rebounds per game (11.7), and leads the league in total rebounds per game (18), per Jaylen Nowell is out for blood as he pursues a new contract and potentially a Sixth Man of the Year award if he keeps this up. As the season progresses, the opportunity for Forbes and Rivers to earn a regular rotation spot will likely diminish. They were signings that were an encouraging step in the right direction in terms of rebuilding last season’s depth. Obviously not at a 20 minute a night level, but certainly more than the minuscule appearances to close out a half. They are second in offensive rebounds per game (15.7) and second in defensive rebounds per game (40.7). One of the big concerns with the Gobert trade was the departure of leadership, defense, intensity, and versatility. Through three games, the Timberwolves have been outscored by opponents by 24 points in the third quarter. Luckily, the Timberwolves start the season with plenty of opponents who, on paper, shouldn’t present much resistance. Simply having Timberwolves basketball back was a gift but entering the season with actual expectations was a new sensation. In typical Timberwolves fashion, though, the lead up to the season wasn’t entirely smooth sailing.

Also, we would like to be transparent in our activities so we would like the community to be present as much as possible for accountability. If you treat people with dignity no matter where they are in life it is assured that you will get the same in return. I love Portland very much and I have ridden my bike here since I moved. I moved here to go to school and live on my own. In Oregon the SLVS is known as the Timberwolves. I got into bike theft recovery because someone stole my bike long time ago before there was a SLVS. Royal Johnson: SLVS stands for Sith Lord Vader Squadron, the SLVS Portland chapter is one of five chapters in four states. (Last month The Oregonian profiled [a group of volunteers who track down stolen cars](https://www.oregonlive.com/crime/2022/09/as-portland-nears-car-theft-record-victims-band-together-to-find-stolen-vehicles.html).) I recently heard about a local group that’s not only ferreting out stolen bikes, but is also trying to train up a new legion of volunteers to help them scale up operations. And these days with social media platforms to help organize and inform, the potential for do-gooders to make an impact is stronger than ever. I have lived in Portland since 2014.

I love working at Bally Sports, I love working with the Timberwolves, and I love being with the Lynx. — On making the Hall of Fame: "I went to Lindsay Whalen's Hall of Fame ceremony, which was amazing. — On the Lynx championship run being almost impossible to replicate: "It's been a while since the Lynx have been in this position — probably not since 2009 or 2010, when we really started to change what the Lynx were before that. What do I need to do to get this going?' The good thing is they respect [Finch] enough to listen to what he feels like they need to do, and that's half the battle.'' — On the Wolves winning their opener Wednesday: "They were up 16, then down six, and I think they kind of reverted back to some of the things that were happening last year. I think they're going to have a 50-win season, but it's not going to be pretty all the time.''

Robinson-Earl Exceeds Expectations in Oklahoma City's Loss to ... (Yardbarker)

Oklahoma City had its worst performance of the young season Sunday, as the Thunder sputtered 116-106 to the Timberwolves in the home opener.

"I hope it’s in a Yankee uniform for him and for the game [and] for baseball in general." Where does it end?” The four-team CFP is a major draw because of the exclusivity of the game. Franklin later scoffed at there not being two tunnels for teams to run up and that there should be rules put in place to keep the teams more separated. "And [Franklin] looked like he was the ringleader of the whole thing." That and his lack of production in the passing game (two catches in five games) make it hard to envision him as a replacement for Hall, who had 19 receptions for 218 yards before he was injured. According to Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun, Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg did not participate in the team's skate on Monday and is unlikely to play Monday night against the Dallas Stars. "It just seemed like such a sophomoric ploy to try to keep us out of our locker room," Harbaugh told the media, via ESPN. New England opened as 7.5-point favorites but the line had moved to 9.0 points by mid-day Monday with the news that Jones is likely to start and the Patriots' spread line backed by 63 percent of the bets and 73 percent of the money. Robinson has averaged 4.2 yards per rush this season and is more adept in the passing game than Akers, hauling in 31 receptions in 14 games last season. He’s been a pleasant surprise to start the season. Despite the disappointing home opener, there were still a few positives for the Thunder to take away. To make matters worse for the Thunder, stat guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was a late scratch for Sunday’s matchup.
