Memphis Grizzlies vs. Brooklyn Nets Game Preview, Starting Time ... (Grizzly Bear Blues)

The Grizzlies return home from the state of Texas to take on a potential title contender in the Brooklyn Nets.

I believe this game against a struggling Brooklyn defense (Rank 25th in PPG and 3-Point %) will provide the perfect opportunity for Bane to snap out of his slump and get rolling. If Dillon Brooks does indeed return, that gives the Grizzlies a huge boost in terms of their defense and another offensive option besides Ja Morant that can create his shot. They will have to continue trending in the right direction against a Brooklyn Nets bench that has scored 54 total points this season in 2 games. Brooklyn Nets Game Tonight Nets vs Grizzlies Odds, Moneyline ... (Nothin' But Nets)

The Brooklyn Nets have lost six straight to the Memphis Grizzlies. Tonight, they'll try to end that streak. Here's everything you need to know.

Brooklyn smacked the Bucks around a few weeks ago to earn their first preseason win. I expect the scoring for Brooklyn to happen there early and often. The Nets and Grizzlies average a combined 221.8 points per game so far during this season. With the spread and moneyline, this game is about as close to even as you can get. The Nets come into this contest as the underdogs via a +1 point spread. Tonight on the road, Brooklyn aims to break that streak and jump above .500 for the first time this season.

'I have no fear': Nets' Nic Claxton sets ambitious goal despite free ... (ClutchPoints)

Brooklyn Nets big man Nic Claxton has set a goal of going to the free throw line at least 10 times a game.

Both Claxton and Simmons’ development as free-throw shooters will continue to be a significant storyline to monitor in Brooklyn this season. The 26-year-old is a career 59.7 percent free-throw shooter and shot just 15 of 45 from the line in the second round of the 2021 playoffs with Philadelphia. He’s starting to show the player he can be and I think he’s still got a ways to go. Despite a better effort against Toronto, the Nets PG has been to the free-throw line just once in Brooklyn’s first two games. He shook off the first night and I thought was much more aggressive.” [has also shown this aggressiveness as a ball handler](https://twitter.com/erikslater_/status/1583647562937950208?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1583647562937950208%7Ctwgr%5Eae12af710249828cff363fc8b654abec22ab5b92%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fclutchpoints.com%2Fwp-admin%2Fpost.php%3Fpost%3D1875660action%3Dedit) in the half-court and transition. “I want to go to the free throw line 10-plus times a game,” Claxton said. “That’s something I embrace and know I need to work on, so I embrace the challenge. [season-opening loss](https://clutchpoints.com/nets-blown-out-in-season-opener-as-zion-williamson-dominates-ben-simmons-struggles-in-return/) to the New Orleans Pelicans was evident. But again, just the toughness and the resilience to continue to play, to not waver or get down, and to stay focused. Claxton has delivered thus far, posting back-to-back double-doubles for the first time in his career to open the season. Claxton shot 40.0 percent from the line last season and 4 of 22 during Brooklyn’s first-round series against Boston.

Nic Claxton embracing role as starter for Nets (Newsday)

Claxton, who hopes to be a defensive force, had a pair of double-doubles in his first two games this season.

“That’s something I embrace and know I need to work on, so I embrace the challenge. “I want to go to the free-throw line 10-plus times a game,” Claxton said. He spent a lot of time in the offseason working on his free-throw shooting, but is 4-for-10 in the first two games. “Yeah, I mean, obviously we're one of the most talented teams in the league, so where teams think they might have an advantage over us is just to out-physical us,” Claxton said several hours before the team tipped off against the Grizzlies. Claxton said Monday the Nets know that biggerteams are going to look to push them around. Claxton has embraced the challenge of being a fulltime starter.

The fact that they knocked down more 3s than us, that’s the name of the game now. Despite Durant’s 17 in the quarter, Memphis outscored the Nets 45-28 in the third. The 76 points by the Grizzlies guards was the most by a two-player tandem in franchise history. “The 3-point line killed us,” Durant said, adding: “It was that 3-point line that separated us. Tonight, I thought was his best game at doing both at a high level.” …I knew it was just a matter of time before I caught my rhythm.” Morant and Bane also each had seven assists.
