After 5 Weeks Off, Dak Back In The Saddle Again (DallasCowboys.com)

Just as he's done in the past, Dak Prescott has patiently waited out an injury, but he's ready finally ready to go Sunday against the Lions.

How mentally tough he is and how mentally sharp he is, I knew he was going to go there and put our team in a position to do exactly what they did," added Prescott. I think when you sit on the sidelines for a while and watch these great players do it, you can kind of be like 'oh my gosh, can you do it, can you do it?' But you get out there and you're like, okay I know how to play football." "To line up there at starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys on a Sunday in the NFL is pretty awesome. "Obviously going into this week knowing that I felt that way last week – I'm right where I need to be." "Real competitors, they itch to get back on the field, and I think that's why his rehab was so intense," added Parsons. "I'll say last week [versus Philadelphia] was the first time that during the game I felt like I had that real itch.

Dallas Cowboys, Dak Prescott beat Detroit Lions 24-6, QB's return is ... (Blogging The Boys)

It was not as easy as the score looked, however, the Dallas Cowboys got the win against Detroit Lions as Dak Prescott returns.

But once again, the Detroit defense would come up with a stop on third and one, forcing another punt. Prescott overcame the first and 20 with a pair of passes to Brown to get Dallas inside the red zone. Despite two holding penalties, the Lions were able to drive the ball down the field, including a conversion on third and 14. The Lions got the ball after halftime, but their possession was quickly ended on a controversial play. After a nice little 14-yard punt return from KaVontae Turpin, the offense would drive to the 20. But the drive was mainly ended by a holding call on Detroit. Micah Parsons also had a nice reaction on a screen pass to set up fourth down and a Detroit punt. After the defense stopped the Lions, it was another three and out as Ezekiel Elliott came up short on a third and one, which had been an automatic conversion for him so far this season. They got as far as the Dallas 21, but were forced to settle for a field goal thanks to solid pass breakup by Trevon Diggs. It was obvious from the start that the return of Prescott from his injury was big. Tony Pollard, the best Cowboys rusher on the day, would get them close with a 25-yard run after a tackle for loss. [Dallas Cowboys](https://www.bloggingtheboys.com/)’ 24-6 win over the [Detroit Lions](https://www.prideofdetroit.com/) was not just a win in a non-divisional matchup with a struggling team.

Turnovers prove costly as Lions fall to Cowboys (The Detroit News)

With the Lions' much-maligned defense playing its best game of the season on Sunday, the offense squandered multiple opportunities and turned the ball over five ...

The loss was the Lions fourth straight, dropping them to 1-5 on the season. Aidan Hutchinson recorded a sack on third down, his second of the game, to knock Dallas out of field goal range and force a punt. That put the Cowboys up two scores with a little under three minutes left in the game. The Cowboys appeared poised to grab the lead before the half, but after receiver Noah Brown hauled a pass in at the 5-yard line, he had the ball knocked free when rookie safety Kerby Joseph upended him. Detroit was able to respond, regaining the lead with a 53-yard boot from Badgley. And after the Lions offense stalled out near midfield their first series, the defense forced another quick punt , stopping Ezekiel Elliott behind the line of scrimmage on third after rookie Josh Paschal, making his debut, forced the Cowboys running back to bounce the carry outside.

But more importantly, in the standings. Even during the non-Dak winning streak, the Cowboys were lacking on offense, ranking in the NFL's bottom 10 in most categories. But it's the Dallas offense that needs to "scratch and claw.'' Unfortunately for QB Jared Goff and company, the Cowboys were not buying any of that. Yes, though that still doesn't push Dallas to the top of the NFC East. He got to his feet and an official took him out of the game to be evaluated. He was terrific supporting the run and finished the day with 15 tackles, including a tackle for loss that forced a first-half punt. Brown went into the medical tent on the sideline for a number of minutes and then emerged and went right to the locker room. Wright came into the game with just one catch on the season for 25 yards. He finished with three tackles, two sacks, three quarterback hits and a tackle for loss. Dallas turned that into another Elliott 1-yard touchdown with 2:46 left to give the Cowboys a 17-6 lead. He was an efficient 19-of-25 passing for 207 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions for a 113.2 rating. For a second straight game the Lions' offense failed to record a touchdown and had critical turnovers. 4 and 5 on the year. Brown](https://www.detroitlions.com/team/players-roster/amon-ra-st-brown/) left with a concussion in the first quarter, but that's no excuse for how poor they've played the last two weeks. But running back Jamaal Williams fumbled the ball and it was recovered by linebacker Anthony Barr at the half yard line. The loss drops Detroit to 1-5 on the season.

Game Recap: Cowboys Win Dak's Return, 24-6 (DallasCowboys.com)

With quarterback Dak Prescott returning and the defense again finding its dominating form, the Cowboys come away with a 24-6 victory over the Lions.

Lewis was injured on the play and had to be helped off the field. But the Dallas defense was able to put on the brakes, Detroit this time getting a 53-yard field goal from Michael Badgley to go back on top. Brown leaving the game due to a concussion, the Lions were again able to move the ball into field-goal range. The quarterback had connections of 15 and 11 yards to Schultz with a nice 24-yard completion to Lamb in between. On their second possession of the game, the visitors were able to move 49 yards in 10 plays with quarterback Jared Goff completing 4 of 5 passes for 34 yards. Would the Dallas Cowboys offense be able to kick things up a notch?

FINAL: Dallas Cowboys 24, Detroit Lions 6. Fourth quarter. :50 -- Dallas Cowboys drive starts on Detroit's 41. It's over. Lions are out of timeouts.

Brock Wright gets the look on first down, catching the pass for 11 yards and the first down. Another series-opening false start on the Cowboys. And then the Lions lose it on the next snap. Brown gets hammered into the air, and the ball comes flying out, and the Lions recover. Jamaal Williams runs for a badly-needed 13 yards on the first snap here. Goff adds 4 yards on the scramble, and here comes the league’s highest-paid punter. The ball is on the ground. And the Cowboys have it. The Cowboys get the Lions offside, but it doesn’t matter, with a 15-yard pass to CeeDee Lamb on third down. Cowboys have three first downs via Lions penalty on the day. But the Lions answer with some more solid run defense on third-and-short. Cowboys run the reverse to CeeDee Lamb and the Lions are all over it.

Detroit Lions vs Dallas Cowboys live online: Diggs interception ... (AS English)

Cowboys defense made the difference, with two interceptions by Diggs and Lewis setting up Dallas' first two touchdowns as they defeat the Detroit Lions.

The Cowboys started off the season with a loss to the Buccaneers and a loss of their starting quarterback Dak Prescott to a thumb injury. They faked it for a Goff pass to Wright and the 1st down on the first drive of the game. The Lions are coming off a bye week last week after an embarrassing loss to the Patriots in which Detroit didn't get a single point on the board. The Cowboys won the toss and have elected to receive. Now that he's back after five weeks, Prescott is the starter without question but may get off to a slow start as he continues to recover and get back into the swing of things - a perfect time for him to do so in a home game against a weaker Lions defense. After a few big plays, the Cowboys get stopped in the red zone and forced to kick a field goal instead at 4th and 2. Fox punted it 43 yards to the Dallas 7 and Turpin finally got his opportunity to run it back and he took it, for a 52-yard run to the Lions 41. Goff's pass to Raymond complete for 19 yards and the 1st down. The Dallas and Detroit defense were making stops and turnovers to play a back-and-forth keepaway game that ended in two field goals for the Lions and one for the Cowboys to end the first half 6-3 Detroit. The third touchdown of the day for the Cowboys came after Goff fumbled the ball and Williams recovered it. The Cowboys defeat the Lions on Prescott's first game back in five weeks. The Dallas Cowboys beat the Detroit Lions in quarterback Dak Prescott's first game back with Dallas in five weeks.

But in the second first quarter we could swear we heard Prescott come to the line and - in changing the play - yell "red donuts!" Though replays showed Wright's knee down at the half-yard line and the blurried ball at - or maybe on - the goal line, officials marked the ball at the 1. But in the last two games they have failed to score a single touchdown. Not Perfect, But Better - In last week's loss in Philly, the Cowboys had 10 penalties and three turnovers. With Prescott, the Cowboys went 0 of 9 on drives against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1 and 0 of 5 in the first half against Detroit. Five Alive - When you win the turnover battle in the NFL, you usually win. Despite field position at Detroit's 41, the Cowboys went three-and-out and punted. When you get five takeaways - in a single half - it's almost impossible to lose. Disappointing Dak - No, the Cowboys don't have a quarterback controversy. Home Cookin' - This was the Cowboys' first win at AT&T Stadium started by Prescott since Dec.

Dallas Cowboys Week 7 Checklist: What Got Accomplished Versus ... (D Magazine)

The defense stacked up big plays on a Detroit offense down its two best playmakers, forcing five turnovers and sacking Jared Goff five times. KaVontae Turpin ...

But the Cowboys succeeded in the face of what appeared to be disastrous circumstances, and McCarthy deserves a lot of credit for instilling the sort of resilience that enabled the season to remain on track. For me, it was that we just watched the end of his season. He is not the biggest man in his position group nor the one with the best ball skills. Yet Elliott has never missed more than two games in a non-suspension-shortened season. It’s been even longer since that player is only one of several pluses in that position group. It’s the breadth of options his skill set opens up for Kellen Moore—and, by extension, the range of threats a defense is forced to monitor. Jayron Kearse, the jumbo-size journeyman, was the face of last year’s group. The safeties are among the most important factors in this defense’s rise under Dan Quinn. Same goes for the long-awaited flickers of life from Dalton Schultz, who increased his season reception total by more than 50 percent in one game. So it wasn’t terribly surprising to see social-media chatter wondering whether Cooper Rush could do the same thing. It ended two plays later with a three-and-out after being sacked by Aidan Hutchinson, the No. The Tony Pollard-Ezekiel Elliot duo dashed and smashed its way to 140 rushing yards on 5.2 yards per carry.

Eatman: Hey Dak, This Is Your New-Look Cowboys (DallasCowboys.com)

Dak Prescott has been QB1 for the Cowboys for seven years, this is a new-look team he's now running.

In the meantime, they can lean on this defense, something Dak hasn't been able to do on a consistent level throughout his career. This is something that he's going to get used to – maybe he figured it out in the second half of this game. The Cowboys had a shot to get off the field and perhaps steal a win in Philly, but the defense couldn't get that necessary stop. This is the new Cowboys and there's nothing wrong with embracing it. But more often than not, with this defense, the game will still be reachable even after a half like that. It's a style that is new to Dak. He did it again Sunday with a play on the ball that most corners don't have the ability to make. But even when things didn't get off to a great start on Sunday, it never felt like the defensive players tried to press and do too much. And at no point in Dak's career has he played with a defense that has the ability to just dominate like this. That's how good this Cowboys defense played on Sunday against a Lions offense that entered the day scoring 30 more points than the Cowboys (140-110). Five turnovers after halftime, including a crucial fumble recovery at the 1-yard line when it appeared the Lions were about to take the lead. The Lions aren't really any of the high-powered offenses in the league.
