The Toronto Raptors will get their first look at Kyle Lowry and the Miami Heat this season: Here's where to watch and what to look for Saturday night.
- Kyle Lowry was dealing with some personal issues last season when the Raptors made their two trips down south to Miami. - Rookie second-round pick Chrisitan Koloko once again logged heavy minutes off the bench and at times looked far more reliable than Precious Achiuwa. Toronto's youth could pay dividends but it might just come down to whoever can last longer on what will certainly be some very tired legs.

Omer Yurtseven discusses his ankle injury and where he stands in his recovery. Victor Oladipo and Yurtseven remain out for the Heat on Saturday vs. the ...
“So I’ve been doing that a lot just to speed up the recovery and increase the blood flow there.” Along with Yurtseven, Heat guard Victor Oladipo has been ruled out for Saturday’s game against the Raptors because of left knee tendinosis. What I’m trying to do right now is control the recovery and maximize it, and that’s the process for me right now.” The 24-year-old also missed Miami’s final four preseason games and has not played in a game since the preseason opener on Oct. “I feel like everything is for the best,” Yurtseven said when asked how he has approached this latest setback. With Yurtseven ruled out for Saturday night’s matchup against the Toronto Raptors at FTX Arena, he has now been unavailable for each of the Heat’s first three regular-season games because of a left ankle impingement.
The Raptors look to get back in the win column but expect Kyle Lowry and the Miami Heat to make it difficult.
They can’t have halves (halves!) where they are a non-factor offensively; it’s not like the Raptors have a bunch of scorers that can come off the bench. It’s evident late in the third quarter last night that he started to gas out, and given how hot he was, the usage is understandable. On the flip side, last season’s best in the East is off to a bad start, dropping their first two games. However, that doesn’t mean they are an “easy out.” As we saw last night, the Raptors got out-executed by much more experienced players in Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. The only bright spot off the bench is the second-round pick Christian Koloko, whose presence in the middle is something the Raptors have been missing since the chip season. Unfortunately, the bench and transition lineups looked like a bunch of athletes from different sports getting together and trying to play competitive pickup basketball.

The Miami Heat host the Toronto Raptors for early NBA season action! It's time to continue our NBA odds series with a Raptors-Heat prediction and pick.
He has played well in his first two games and can be a nightmare for the Heat if they aren’t careful. They are going to need Lowry to contribute at least 15 a night if they want to be the team they were last season. The Heat are yet to win a game so you know that they will be on their game offensively tonight. The key defensively will be for the Heat to shut down Siakam. The Heat fell to the Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics to start the season. This is a huge season for them as they look to get on track with Jimmy Butler leading the way.

A Martin-Koloko altercation turned around an awful start, but the shorthanded Raptors ran out of time in the fourth.

[Pascal Siakam](https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/siakapa01.html). They are typically able to make up for it with their strong on ball defense, and quick help instincts, but tonight looked like the tired end of a back-to-back. In the first half, Miami shot 55% from the field, including 9/19 from 3-point range, and as you can see by the chart below, way too many shots inside the restricted arc. Tonight was just a terrible second quarter that Toronto lost 33-17. It seemed like the easiest cop out option for the refs to throw the rookie out of the game, but I would assume the league will take a deeper look at this, and hopefully provide further punishment to Martin.
