[Jeremy Peña](https://www.chron.com/sports/astros/article/jeremy-pena-heart-sign-17521297.php) hasn't looked like a typical rookie throughout his first season in the big leagues, something that is reflected in a recent honor the [Houston Astros](https://www.chron.com/sports/astros/) shortstop received.

Despite that, he still had the athleticism to not only play the outfield (including 54 games in center) but tie for the MLB lead among outfielders with 17 Outs Above Average. He has two NL West challenges in Cronenworth and Rodgers, a former shortstop prospect who seems to have found a home at second with the Rockies. Trevino (first) and Raleigh (third) also ranked in the top three among catchers in defensive runs saved. Also in the running are Schoop and Giménez, who finished first and second at the position, respectively, in Outs Above Average. It’s possible the man who replaced Correa at shortstop in Houston could be the one who prevents him from winning a second straight Gold Glove Award. Kepler, who led all right fielders with 12 Outs Above Average, and Tucker (5 OAA) are each looking for their first win.

Xander Bogaerts' Gold Glove nomination drives up price of possible ... (BoSox Injection)

Xander Bogaerts is going to get a big contract from someone this offseason. Being a Gold Glove finalist will only drive up that price. Will the Red Sox pay?

He wasn’t just good this year, he actually has a better all-around case to win the award. He made fewer errors in more games than Peña, and only two more errors than Correa, who only played 132 games to Bogaerts’ 146. But this year, Bogaerts took his glovework to the next level.

Red Sox's Lone Gold Glove Finalist Among Most Unlikely ... (Yardbarker)

The Boston Red Sox's finalist for a 2022 Gold Glove Award came from a highly unlikely source, especially when you consider how the season began.

I'm ready to take a chance on one of the best receivers in the game to score a touchdown at plus-money odds. New Orleans Saints Anytime Touchdown Scorers Alvin Kamara Anytime Touchdown (+105) (Bet $100 to win $105) Alvin Kamara is starting to turn on the engines. If the Saints want to win, they'd be wise to find ways to get Kamara to score a touchdown. Every team has one, and they will wear them a minimum of two times and a maximum of eight times during the season. This is the second year in a row the NHL has done this. The NHL officially unveiled the reverse retro jerseys for every NHL team for the 2022-23 season, and there are some real winners in the group. "I was watching down the stretch when (Judge) was trying to get to that (62) number," Clemens carefully answered. It's a long season, and Paul has a history of wearing down, getting hurt or making baffling plays in the playoffs, so the more they can lean on a younger guard — especially a former NBA champion like Lee — the better. The main question looming for France is how it will replace its star midfielders, who played so well the team's run to the World Cup title in 2018. Plenty of people expected the Patriots to crater in Jones' absence, but Zappe did his part to keep them afloat.

He plays like a veteran, but he is a rookie," Dusty Baker said of his Astros' rookie shortstop, off to a 7 for 20 start in the postseason.

“I felt like before I was trying to read the pitch as my leg was in the air. But we’re happy he was there.” “Nick wants us all to get together at the World Series if Houston makes it,” Trimper said. He’s quiet and he goes about his business and he just comes to play.” “Danny, Nick, and Jeremy, they’re peas in a pod, good friends. Even when he was struggling a little bit there, for a little bit in the middle of the season, if his number was called in a big at-bat, it seemed like he came through for us.” He played briefly in the minors and now works as an assistant for his uncle, Alex Rodriguez. He said he would go to Maine and he did,” Trimper said. I feel like when you start maturing in this game, you have to keep the same level of level-headedness, That started the recruiting process and Peña committed to Maine. But you could see he was a shortstop.” The game was snowed out, but Trimper decided to stick around.

Red Sox' Xander Bogaerts named Gold Glove Award finalist (Yardbarker)

Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts has been named a finalist for a Gold Glove Award, Major League Baseball and Rawlings announced earlier Thursday afternoon.

Wilson adds that “multiple” teams remain interested in McCaffrey and “are actively exploring trade scenarios.” A number of teams have been connected to the running back, with the 49ers presumed to be a suitor. He has played 35 snaps this season, missing the first two games because of a planned ramp-up period — due to his arrival in the wake of Tyron Smith’s injury — and missing Week 5 because of a chest injury. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler believes a trade for Claypool has been in play since before the draft, and a team to keep an eye on is the Green Bay Packers, who are reportedly "all in" on the receiver. The Cardinals could be the team that gives the Saints the push they need to get it started. In the Lakers-Pelicans trade that sent Davis to L.A., the Lakers sent New Orleans a bevy of draft picks as well as the right for the Pelicans to swap picks this year should the Lakers have a better selection. With one of the oldest rosters in football, the Saints are built to win now. The Rebels (7-0, 3-0 in SEC) are the last remaining undefeated team in the SEC West, so they have as good a shot as they've had in years to get over the hump. The prospect of a Tyron Smith return will inject some O-line configuration uncertainty into the equation for the Cowboys, who have used Tyler Smith at tackle in every snap this season. "Those are important things for the overall offense to be successful, for us to be able to adapt and to change and to maybe check a play here or motion a receiver based on coverage and all those sorts of things." Early in the year, in a huge victory over Kentucky, Ole Miss forced turnovers on the Wildcats' final two possessions, both deep in Ole Miss territory. Pena is also going for his first while Correa will be aiming to win it for the second year in a row. Last week, the Rebels forced turnovers on two of Auburn's first four possessions in jumping out to a 21-0 lead.
