This greatly dials down the risk of clicking a shady link and getting a computer virus. The team also showed off tests for new library sharing features and cross-platform play. Instead of a basic pre-made bed, the revamped interface showed the ability to customize the bed's base and footboard. The development team will continue to release game updates and Sims Delivery Express drops to keep the base game fresh and fun. The new teased interface looks like a program you'd use as an interior designer, which would greatly elevate the realism of The Sims. The Sims 5 wasn't explicitly mentioned and because this is such an early sneak peek, it's likely that the final iteration of Project Rene will look quite different.

"Paralives has set up the bar higher so [The] Sims team have to match it." We at least know The Sims 5 is years out from release, while Paralives could be right around the corner. Yangy Young added, "The Paralives stuff looks great so what's the big deal? These comparisons have already been divisive - some are taking it as a bad thing, claiming that EA is copying an indie dev to steal its thunder, while others believe it's a good thing and exactly why Paralives was so necessary. It's an upcoming competitor that is to The Sims what Cities: Skylines is to SimCity, and fans think The Sims 5 looks an awful lot like it. "[It's] a good thing," Neytan responded to the tweet embedded above.
The Sims 5 is in production, EA and Maxis announced during a special Sims news broadcast, except the new life sim game might not actually be The Sims 5.
A new, also free update releasing in 2023 will change how the game perceives babies, recognizing them as human Sims with needs of their own instead of just objects in a cradle until they reach the toddler years. EA avoided giving the project a name as a direct sequel to “Project Rene will fundamentally evolve how Sims think and behave, how players create and customize their worlds, and innovate in entirely new ways,” EA said in a
The Behind The Sims Summit livestream brought with it news of an upcoming Sims title dubbed Project Rene. Unfortunately, it probably isn't The Sims 5.
The fact that Project Rene wasn't simply called The Sims 5 seems to add validity to the team's stance that [The Sims 5 isn't happening anytime soon](https://screenrant.com/sims-5-4-updates-expansions-bad/). Instead, Project Rene could be a spin-off meant to test the multiplayer functionality in build and live mode before it's incorporated into the next mainline Sims game. [The Sims](https://youtu.be/Tmm6h6bHD3o) team wouldn't at least mention that Project Rene is a mainline game if that's truly the case. Project Rene will offer optional multiplayer functionality, which may play a large role in why so many fans believe the project is simply a codename for The Sims 5. New mainline Sims games are typically announced just a year or so out from their launch date, which would make it unusual for The Sims 5 to be revealed so far in advance. Updates for The Sims Mobile and The Sims FreePlay were also announced, meaning that there's no shortage of things to look forward to in the future.

The thought of being able to start a save on my MacBook, pick it up on a PC, and then continue playing the same save/family from my iPad is something that I have wanted for quite some time. However, it seems that The Sims team wants to keep the community involved in the development process this time around, which is something we haven’t ever seen before from the company. Project Rene looks very interesting, and while the crafting portion I’m excited for, the biggest thing for me is the cross-platform play. Project Rene looks to have support for changing the color of objects, their attributes, and even size in a wide range of ways that we haven’t seen since Sims 3 – a welcomed change. [Behind the Sims Summit](https://www.ea.com/games/the-sims/news/behind-the-sims-summit#section-2), we got our first look at what’s to be [Sims 5](https://9to5toys.com/guides/the-sims-5), dubbed “Project Rene.” In the very early look at the game, we got to see quite a bit of unique features. Project Rene for The Sims 5 has no set date, nor even a time frame for release, so we can expect that the launch is a few years away.
