Lakers vs Warriors and NBA opening night live updates: Score ... (The Athletic)

The Warriors open their NBA title defense Tuesday against the Lakers, but first, there's a celebration: Golden State players will receive their championship ...

They, of course, did not win the title the previous season, but that game had a similar “ring night” feel to it.) The third point guard is normally a floor-general type and contrast to the scoring guards ahead of him. Still, NBA players are creatures of habit, and a prolonged ceremony before a regular-season game the team badly wants to win also represents a sharp break from that routine. Sometimes, I have to remember to score the ball.” The Warriors also dumped one of their two-ways and snatched up Ty Jerome on their quest for a point guard. A questioned, motivated Green is typically a great Green for the Warriors. The motivation for him to have a super charged, high impact regular season and playoffs is obvious. Jordan Poole is moving back to the bench with Klay Thompson in the lineup, but doesn’t need to obsess over how his minute and point totals will impact his market. Juan Toscano-Anderson, who knows the Warriors as well as anyone outside of the organization, said the key to defeating his former team is disrupting their offensive flow and taking away their preferred reads. The Lakers are going to have to scrap their base schemes and adjust to Golden State’s defense-bending shooting. Locking up Davis to start the year would be the kind of opening statement Green wants to start his Defensive Player of the Year campaign. Ham said he plans on sticking with one lineup for a while, and not changing his starters game to game, so this is a grouping that the Lakers will likely try for at least a few games until re-evaluating.

NBA Odds: Lakers-Warriors prediction, odds and pick - 10/18/2022 (ClutchPoints)

The NBA season kicks off tonight with the Los Angeles Lakers taking on the defending champion Golden State Warriors. Tip-off is scheduled for 10 pm ET.

Steph is still one of the best players in the league and the heart and soul of this Warriors franchise. After a full offseason of rest for LA, I expect them to keep things close in hopes of setting the tone for the season. Outside of LeBron going nuclear, the Lakers’ path to covering against the Warriors lies primarily on the (often frail) shoulders of Forward Anthony Davis. Poole had 10 30-point games last year and had 13 games where he hit at least 5 3’s. LeBron’s track record is well-established and his place in NBA history as one of the greats is cemented but isn’t he over the cliff now? He missed most of the regular season rehabbing injury, but still averaged 20.4 points and shot nearly 40% from three. In 56 games James averaged the second-highest scoring average of his career, clocking in at 30.3 PPG. While he played the second-fewest games of his career, last year’s stats tell the story of someone who continues to fend off Father Time. This year LA seems to have their key pieces intact and they have a prime opportunity to make a statement on opening night against the defending champs. Although the Lakers went just 1-3 against the Warriors last year, LeBron dropped 56 points in LA’s lone win. The NBA season kicks off tonight with the Los Angeles Lakers taking on the defending champion Golden State Warriors. In the games he was available, LeBron averaged 37.2 minutes per game to go along with 8.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists.

Lakers vs. Warriors Odds, Preview, Prediction: Trust LeBron, AD and ... (The Action Network)

With LeBron James and Anthony Davis healthy and rested, the Lakers should be primed to go toe-to-toe with the Warriors on opening night.

I’ll grab the points and trust LeBron and Anthony Davis in a primetime spot to keep it within two possessions. The Warriors fit into this criteria as of this writing. This is a spot where the public is backing the reigning champs, but the respected money is keeping the line static by refusing to give LeBron and Co. [Lakers](https://www.actionnetwork.com/nba/odds/los-angeles-lakers) head to the Bay as they try their best to spoil the [Warriors](https://www.actionnetwork.com/nba/odds/golden-state-warriors)‘ Ring Ceremony on Opening Night. One notable thing about the Lakers is they obviously are rested, and when both Davis and James have played, this team has excelled. This means more minutes for the Golden State bench players, who have not had the same time to play together in meaningful minutes. The line had held at the same 6.5 line since the open during the offseason, with some books even having reverse movement to Warriors -6. And by Monday evening, that was the consensus line. One of the biggest questions surrounding the Lakers was whether or not they would trade Russell Westbrook, or if he would come off the bench if not. With Russell Westbrook listed as probable with a hamstring injury, we may not get an update on whether he is starting or leading the bench unit. They were finally able to trade Talen Horton-Tucker’s overvalued stock in the offseason and brought back Patrick Beverley from the Utah Jazz.
