Bengals win 30-26 thriller over Saints in New Orleans: Final score ... (Cincy Jungle)

Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase carry Cincinnati to victory.

A costly punt from the Saints gave the Bengals possession at their own 40-yard line, and one play is all Burrow and Chase needed to give Cincinnati their first lead of the day. Hill broke through the line for the Bengals’ first and only sack of the day. The Harvey, LA native also got the call to finish the drive and hauled in a 15-yard pass from Burrow in the same end zone the duo connected in during the 2020 National Championship game. A roughing the passer call on Trey Hendrickson helped the Saints get into field goal range and increase their lead to 23-14. 9 twice later in the drive, forcing the Bengals to settle for three. The pressure would eventually reach Burrow in the pocket as the Saints sacked No. The Saints, playing without three of their top receivers, would find a way to answer on offense. Dalton, Hill, and Kamara continued to move the chains, but Cincinnati’s defense bent as much as possible without breaking. It culminated with Burrow finding Joe Mixon out of empty to tie it up 7-7 just before the end of the first period. Cincinnati succeeded on their third drive of the first quarter with a healthy dose of RPOs and various quick concepts. 132 of those yards, and two of those touchdowns ended up in the arms of Chase. Analysis: How Bengals' Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase found their ... (Cincinnati.com)

The Cincinnati Bengals move to 3-3 on the year after gutting out one of the most impressive road wins under head coach Zac Taylor's tenure as head coach.

But despite playing their worst game of the season, the Bengals’ defense, Trey Hendrickson in particular, made the stop to force a Saints’ punt when they needed it most at the end of the game. Tupou didn’t return to the game and neither did Wilson. Taysom Hill also is a weapon in the run game and those two players in particular exposed the Bengals on defense. “It was third down and the game was on the line, basically,” Burrow said of the play. They had yet to execute the explosive plays they were known for, and Chase has been ready for a big game since his Week 1 performance against the Steelers. It was clear when the Bengals lost defensive tackle DJ Reader against the Dolphins, the run defense was going to take a hit. “That was an unbelievable play by him,” Burrow said following the game. The Louisiana native had over 50 family members and friends in the stands at the Superdome. The game was brought within two points and eventually Cincinnati took the lead. Look no further than the third-and-4 play in the fourth quarter when he escapes a sack and scrambles until he can find Tyler Boyd over the middle for the first down. Burrow, following the game as he typically does, downplayed how difficult that play is to make. The Bengals got their mojo back and there weren’t two players happier about it than quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.

After Further Review: Five takes on Saints loss to Bengals (FOX 8 Live WVUE)

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (9) runs for a touchdown against the New Orleans Saints during the first half of ...

In the NFL, it’s rare to have that kind of success running the football. It only took one play because Chase took a ten-yard route from Burrow and turned it into a sixty-yard touchdown to give the Bengals their first, and only, lead of the game. It looked like Burrow had no chance, yet somehow as the pocket collapsed around him and in front of him, he was able to slip through and run for a 19-yard score. Those were the Saints final rushing numbers. The Saints out-schemed the Bengals, but in the end their star players stepped up when they had to. Those were just the touchdowns, there were others. Meanwhile, the Bengals didn’t let a trip inside the 20 slip through their grasp. Their first two drives in the second half went a combined 28 plays and ate up over 15 minutes of clock. They truly had the Bengals on their heels most of the game. But there are cases where a team outplays their opponent and still ends up on the losing end of the scoreboard. Now they’re 2-4 and looking to regroup despite having one of their best efforts of the season. By the time the last one ended in a field goal there was a nervousness in the air that scoring threes instead of sevens would eventually catch up to them.

Burrow, Chase lead Bengals past Saints, 30-26 (FOX 8 Live WVUE)

Joe Burrow passed for 300 yards and three touchdowns in his 'homecoming' game at Caesars Superdome.

The Saints jumped to an early 7-0 lead, after recovering a fumble by Cincinnati punt returner Trent Taylor, the former Louisiana Tech receiver. But Cincinnati responded with a 52-yard field goal by McPherson to bring the Bengals back within two points at 26-24 with 3:41 to play. Blake Gillikin’s punt went out of bounds just 29 yards downfield, giving the Bengals excellent field position from which to mount their game-winning drive. NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase made their return to the Caesars Superdome memorable, connecting on a 60-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter Sunday (Oct. Burrow completed 28 of 37 passes for 300 yards and three touchdowns. Burrow sought to channel those vibes Sunday by wearing Chase’s jersey from that game when he arrived at the Dome, and eventually conjured the same magic.
