Harrison Ford is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in what might be one of the biggest casting coups for the franchise so far.
It will be seen as a major success for Marvel and Feige to recruit Ford to the franchise, which has lacked some A-list starpower since the departures of Robert Downey Jr. The role of Ross is not expected to be an overly physical one for Ford, who is now 80 years old. He made his return after 32 years to a galaxy far, far away in Star Wars: The Force Awakens having softened in his stance against the films that he had taken in the years immediately following his appearances in the original trilogy.
Harrison Ford may be hanging up the whip and fedora as Indiana Jones, but the actor is not saying goodbye to the world of Disney by any means.

It would just be icing on the cake to see the 80-year-old Ford gear up in the motion capture suit to get bright red and grapple with the Hulk. All that was missing was the man himself—the General so blind with rage for the Hulk that he ends up transforming himself into a Red Hulk just to fight him one on one. According to /Film, Ford will make his first appearance as the character in Captain America: New World Order, set to debut in May 2024. In the MCU's past, General Ross appeared in The Incredible Hulk, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers; Endgame, and Black Widow. It is still unclear how Kevin Feige managed to convince Harrison Ford to sign up for such a massive project in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But he did it, ...
As far as the details go, Ford will likely appears in multiple films with relatively small roles and have a more leading role to play in the Thunderbolts films slated for 2024. So far, we have several confirmed characters as part of the Thunderbolts. Meaning that Ford would mostly do voice over work, that's likely how Kevin Feige managed to convince him to play the charcter. But he did it, the legendary movie star is slated to play Thunderbols Ross as a replacement for the late great William Hurt. In the MCU, this would be an exclusively CGI charcter like Mark Ruffalo does with The Hulk. Unfortunately, William Hurt recently passed away as he was signed to become the leader of the MCU's anti-hero team: The Thunderbolts.
The character was previously portrayed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by William Hurt, who passed away earlier this year.
Now, SlashFilm has reported that Marvel will be replacing Hurt with Harrison Ford, who will be making his debut as General Ross in the MCU with Captain America: New World Order, which will lead into the events of Thunderbolts. Could Harrison Ford portray Red Hulk in a potential World War Hulk movie? However, as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) is currently rounding up the Thunderbolts, many believed that she would ultimately lead up the team when they would eventually come together.
