Skaar's She-Hulk and MCU connections, explained (Polygon)

Hulk's son Skaar (played by actor Wil Deusner) raises questions about his time in space, his mom, Caeira Oldstrong, and if there will be a Hulk movie ...

And not long after that, Skaar was depowered by the Hulk himself under the sway of a shifty alter-ego calling himself Doc Green. His defeat at the combined hands of Hulk and Skaar finally provided a meaningful bond between that father and son pair, and ended their long love-hate dynamic. Both of those lessons are ones that cousin Bruce urged Jen to take to heart back in the show’s pilot episode, and seeing him take on another familial protégé makes a certain amount of sense, even as it adds another wrinkle to the increasingly knotty and chaotic Banner family tree. Of course, family relationships in Marvel Comics are rarely simple, and Hulk and Skaar’s father-son bonding trip was no exception. The first of these boys, Skaar, has had the more Hulk-relevant history. She used her powers to ensure her unborn children survived Sakaar’s destruction and then became one with the planet. But in any case, their initial brawl was a sideshow: It was papa Bruce that Skaar was after. Written by Greg Pak and drawn by Carlo Pagulayan and Aaron Lopresti, that story found Earth’s heroes collectively sighing impatiently at Bruce Banner’s periodic fits of Hulked-out rage, and tricking him into an intergalactic flight that exiled him to a distant galaxy. The season finale of “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” was baller. Skaar and Banner later fought Tyrannus when he and his Moloids invaded Manhattan. Skaar entered into battle with his cousin, She-Hulk, and the Fantastic Four. Mister Fantastic saw his arrival through a wormhole, as well as Hulk's cousin She-Hulk, who could sense his location and gender. Skaar also would tie into a Young Avengers film. A year later, he appeared to have grown into a young adult.

She-Hulk's Skaar Explained: The Tragic Story Behind Hulk's Son - IGN (IGN)

She-Hulk's first season ends with a major bombshell for the Hulk family, and it's one that draws on a very tragic Marvel storyline.

That said, don’t expect a direct adaptation of Planet Hulk or World War Hulk in the MCU. Previous episodes showed a Sakaarian messenger arriving on Earth and Hulk returning to the planet to deal with some unfinished business. The MCU’s Hulk is in a much better place. Hulk is a constantly evolving character, however, and once Skaar finally arrives he realizes the “Green Scar” who ruled Sakaar is no more. It was one of his own warriors who sabotaged the ship, and his son Skaar has survived. In both the comics and the MCU, Hulk spends a good deal of time away from Earth and smashing his way to victory in Sakaar’s gladiator arena. He eventually defeats his nemesis, the warlord Axeman Bone, and vows to travel to Earth and kill his absentee father. He also doesn’t usurp the throne of Sakaar, though he and Thor wind up helping speed along the Grandmaster’s downfall by the time they escape the planet. As the son of two of the greatest warriors in the universe, Skaar is no slouch himself. Planet Hulk deals with Hulk’s arrival on Sakaar, after the Illuminati banish him from Earth in order to protect humanity from his wrath. Hulk is back from the planet Sakaar, and he’s brought his son with him. World War Hulk itself is one piece of Pak’s much larger Hulk saga, which began in 2005’s Planet Hulk.

The She-Hulk Finale Introduces Skaar—The Hulk's Otherworldly ... (menshealth.com)

Hulk's son Skaar makes a cameo in the 'She-Hulk: Attorney at Law' Season 1 finale. Learn more about Skaar's Marvel Comics history and his role in the MCU.

But once Skaar is born (in a cocoon following his mother's death), he ages rapidly, and once he's fully-grown eventually has one main goal: to go to earth and kill his father, The Incredible Hulk. In the famous "Planet Hulk" and "World War Hulk" comic arcs, Hulk has a back and forth relationship with Caiera, who is a Shadow Person on Sakaar with "The Old Power," which essentially gives her superpowers. He may not look familiar for multiple reasons: first, well, he's under the same motion capture/CGI technology that Tatiana Maslany (as She-Hulk), Mark Ruffalo (as The Hulk) and Tim Roth (as The Abomination) are all under. Evan is the culture editor for Men’s Health, with bylines in The New York Times, MTV News, Brooklyn Magazine, and VICE. comics, much like the MCU series of the same name, exist outside of the main continuity—was in World War Hulk #5. He's also had spin-off arcs and series in his own name, including "Son of Hulk" and Planet Skaar. [She-Hulk:Attorney at Law](https://www.menshealth.com/entertainment/a40921142/she-hulk-how-many-episodes-release-schedule/) brought every thread needled throughout its first season together in a finale that included some predictable—Todd was [Hulk King](https://www.menshealth.com/entertainment/a41443206/she-hulk-who-is-hulk-king/) after all—and some utterly-unpredictable—including that Disney+ fourth wall break for the ages. As we lean at the Walters/Banner family BBQ at the end of the episode, Skaar is Bruce Banner's son. Well, by the end of the season, Bruce is back. It remains to be seen if we will meet the second one any time soon in the MCU. But for now, let's hone in on one thing: The Hulk has a son? The Hulk has a son.

Who is Skaar in She-Hulk? Is he Hulk's son in Marvel series, who is ... (NationalWorld)

The finale of Disney Plus Marvel series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law saw the introduction of Hulk's son Skaar, played by Wil Deusner - and teased World War ...

Who is Skaar in She-Hulk? In the last episode of the season, Jen speaks to her AI robot KEVIN in a fourth wall breaking moment where she criticises the show’s writing. Skaar is played by 19 year old American actor Wil Deusner - he has previously appeared in several other shows. Hulk had been called back to Sakaar in an earlier episode in the series and presumably met his son during this return. As is seen in Thor: Ragnarok, time works differently on Sakaar, which explains how Hulk’s son is clearly in his late teens at the very least (She-Hulk is set eight years after the events of Ragnarok). Skaar was introduced in the Marvel comics during the Planet Hulk storyline, making his first appearance in 2007.

Who Plays Hulk's Son Skaar in the She-Hulk Finale (CBR)

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has finally introduced the son of Hulk, and he's played by an actor who recently starred in another superhero show.

Nevertheless, Wil Deusner's MCU character will be able to explore the legacy of the Hulk in ways that She-Hulk: Attorney at Law can't. He may even be brought into [the very likely "Young Avengers" lineup](https://www.cbr.com/three-thousand-years-longing-george-miller-young-avengers-mcu/), replacing Hulkling as the Hulk stand-in of the group. It would seem that some of that potential is being rearranged, however, given how much calmer this incarnation of Skaar is compared to the comics. By bringing the son of the Hulk to the small screen, Deusner is sure to have an even bigger role up ahead. In the past two years, he played Joey Zarick, a character on the She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has not been shy about bringing in various heroes and villains from throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with many of these plot elements having some basis in the original comic books.
