start on a Tuesday would stop Phillies fans from going bonkers for a home game against the Braves, or Mets, or even the Nationals? For a home playoff game against a hated division rival? start time on a Tuesday:
We break down the odds to win the series between the Phillies and Braves this postseason.
The Phils might have a real chance in this series if they can steal Game 1 with Suarez, but since the Braves recorded the third-best home record this year and the third-best OPS against southpaws, you should expect them to take an easy lead in this series today and leave Philadelphia with an extremely thin margin for error. Philadelphia is going to need more of that in this series to have a chance because neither their lineup nor bullpen is as deep or talented as Atlanta’s. But if the Braves can score a win off of one of those starters, this series is all but over. [Philadelphia Phillies](https://www.thegoodphight.com/) and [Atlanta Braves](https://www.talkingchop.com/) have already faced off 19 times this season; now they will battle in a best-of-five series to advance one step closer to the [World Series](https://www.sbnation.com/world-series). The Phillies didn’t do much hitting during their Wild Card Series victory over the Cardinals (.158 batting average, .549 OPS), but they didn’t need to do much with Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola on the mound. The Braves won 11 of 19 games against the Phillies this season, including a three-game sweep at home in September.
Inning by inning updates from Game 1 of the NLDS between the Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Phillies turned to Zach Eflin to close it out in the ninth. Dominguez then struck out Swanson and Riley to end the inning. Jose Alvarado replaced Dominguez and after a delay while the grounds crew rebuilt the mound, retired the Braves in order to send the game to the ninth. Dylan Lee came back out to start the sixth and began the inning with strikeouts of Hoskins and Realmuto. He struck out Schwarber for the first out, but Hoskins followed with a double to left to put runners at second and third with one out. Chavez was then replaced by Dylan Lee who got Schwarber to ground out to end the inning. Brogdon then walked Arcia and was replaced by Brad Hand who got Harris to line out sharply to Vierling in the right center gap. Suarez came back and struck out Swanson and Riley before Olson lined a single to left to put runners at the corners. Suarez walked Contreras, but then came back and struck out d’Arnaud to leave the bases loaded. Max Fried struck out Matt Vierling to start the second, but then gave up a double down the left field line to Sosa. Dansby Swanson struck out for the first out, but Austin Riley and Matt Olson worked back-to-back walks to load the bases. A single by Bryce Harper put runners at the corners and Nick Castellanos brought home the first run with a single to right that dropped just in front of Ronald Acuna.
