Breaking down the steady play of Andrew Thomas vs. Packers (FOXSports.com)

By Geoff Schwartz FOX Sports NFL Analyst. The New York Giants selected Georgia left tackle Andrew Thomas with the fourth overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft.

He started at right tackle for the University of Oregon for three seasons and was a second-team All-Pac-12 selection his senior year. Geoff Schwartz played eight seasons in the NFL for five different teams. On Sunday, the Giants’ rush scheme did not have Thomas on many individual run blocks. He noticed pressure from the Packers coming from outside his alignment. He’s rarely leaning, so when the defender makes a secondary move he can easily mirror that movement. [Daniel Jones](https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/daniel-jones-player), the lack of offensive weapons outside of running back [Saquon Barkley](https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/saquon-barkley-player) and a shaky interior offensive line. He overwhelms defenders with excellent initial quickness that allows him to make contact ASAP and control the rep. Again, this is not because he can’t do it, it’s just the design of the offense. He used his long arms and strength to make blocks rather than timing up quality punches with a good base. The Giants passing attack is designed for Jones to get the ball out quickly and avoid having to stand in the pocket for too long. This is not intended to take away any success from Thomas, but when evaluating the play of an offensive lineman, it’s a must to figure out what they are being asked to do. He’s a prime example of allowing a player to develop with time and coaching.

Larry Jones has been getting deals done at Fox Sports for 34 years (Chicago Business Journal)

Every bigwig that has run a sports league or college conference over the past three decades is intimately familiar with Larry Jones.

“At the beginning, Fox was a startup,” Shanks said. “Larry was one of the people that really helped me grow into the position.” “The Big Ten wasn’t free to negotiate its media rights at that time because they were tied up with ESPN,” Jones said. “We had the cable distribution and the marketing, and Jim had the rights,” Jones said. While sitting on the beach one afternoon, Delany opened up to Jones about his desire to launch a Big Ten-branded network. “I can’t tell you how many times I was in a room — with the NHL, baseball, USGA — and the question always was, ‘Well, wait a minute. It didn’t take long for Jones to realize that he had a steep learning curve in the sports business. “I interviewed, got the job and then the contract was sent to me. At the end of the day, that is a testament to him.” Jones: “I went up there and they threw me out of the office. The catch was that Malone then would have to launch a new Fox-branded channel for 25 cents per subscriber per month.
