The Wildcats are off next week before traveling to TCU, another team without a Big 12 loss. "We've got tough kids," Klieman said. "And that's what it's all about. "I have faith in all my teammates. "We had a couple of explosive plays on them. I have faith in myself, too," said Martinez, the fifth-year Nebraska graduate transfer. "That was my thought, I hope he crossed, but he didn't. On Iowa State's final series, free safety Josh Hayes raced across to bring down Jaylin Noel for just a 3-yard gain, setting up fourth down and 7 at the K-State 49-yard line. Purnell stepped in and finished with three tackles while breaking up two passes. "I was confident we were going to pull it out the whole time, but I don't know if I'll be able to sleep tonight," said junior linebacker Austin Moore, who finished with six tackles, including one for loss, and broke up two passes. "A really good (Iowa State) football team. "Any Big 12 game, 10-9, it's kind of ugly, but we found a way.

The Wildcats had to try and make up for the mistake the rest of the game. That led to a fumble in the end zone and then a scramble for the loose ball. Brooks also broke a tackle and then jogged into the end zone. But the Nebraska transfer shed a tackle and then found Brooks open downfield. Give credit to Knowles for keeping his head up and making big plays in the second half. That led to more passes than we have seen in recent weeks with Martinez throwing for 246 yards and a touchdown. And they were ready for most of the designed QB runs and scrambles that Martinez tried. The Wildcats had to find other ways to move the ball against a strong defense on the road. Martinez and Vaughn lit up Oklahoma for a combined 264 yards and four touchdowns. The squads that find ways to win on their off-nights are the ones that usually contend for trophies. They join Oklahoma State and TCU as they only three teams in the league with an undefeated conference record. The Wildcats remain very much in the mix for a trip to the Big 12 title game.

Kansas State Football edges thes Iowa State Cyclones, 10-9, to win Farmageddon 2022.

Linebacker Colby Reeder recovered the ball in the middle of the end zone. Martinez threw a pass to Knowles, who caught the ball in stride along the numbers and began his charge up field, outracing defenders as he neared the end zone. He completed 5 of 9 passes for 187 yards and one touchdown in the first half. K-State outgained Iowa State 388 to 276 and held the Cyclones to just 5 of 15 on third downs. That gave Brooks two catches for 102 yards and one touchdown — the first 100-yard receiving game of his career. K-State struck first and fast, as Martinez found Brooks streaking down the field for an 81-yard catch-and-run touchdown and a 7-0 lead less than 3 minutes into the game. It marked the first time K-State had two 100-yard receivers since Byron Pringle (121) and Isiah Harris (118) on September 2, 2017. It marked the first time since 2016 that K-State held a Big 12 opponent to single digits on the road. Iowa State entered the game outscoring its opponents 37-7 in the fourth quarter. We understood we could move the ball on these guys, and we were going to find a way to win. "We were just focused on getting off the field on third down," said safety Josh Hayes, who had a team-high 11 tackles, including eight solo stops, and one pass breakup. "We knew coming into it that they were physical and big and we knew it was going to be a fist fight," Martinez said.

AMES, Ia. — Kansas State is riding high after storming into Jack Trice Stadium Saturday night, and leaving with a thrilling 10-9 victory over Iowa State.

Although the Wildcats had a turnover, converted less third downs, and was held scoreless in the second and third quarter, they still won. “Whether it’s offense one week, defense the next week or making a big special teams play.” It was also Anudike-Uzomah’s fourth sack in the last two games. “We had really good field position the entire fourth quarter, and we kept blitzing them, putting pressure on their offense,” he said. It was a defensive slugfest, and didn’t have much fireworks, but the Wildcats showed grit and persevered with a fourth quarter rally. “Our guys did that, and I am so pleased with the defense.”
