When it was over, head coach Frank Reich said “isn't it awesome that you can have a game like that and still win” in the NFL and quarterback Matt Ryan shared ...

You gotta find ways to win games and I’m proud of the guys.” The final two offensive drives of the game ended in field goals and Ryan said they “showed a lot of guts” that will lead to increased confidence in the locker room despite how poorly the rest of the game went for the unit. “We found a way,” Ryan said, via the team’s website.

Matt Ryan after Colts Win: 'We've Got to Play Better' (Sports Illustrated)

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Ryan was happy to get the win, but not satisfied.

"We've just got to make a play here or there. "And we did it. The Colts are 2-2-1 with a long week of recovery before taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars on October 16th. Even as you're trying to find out what we can be." "Wins are what we need," Ryan said with a wry smile. "I think our best football is in front of us.

Matt Ryan, Colts beat Broncos in 'slob of a game' (UPI.com)

Quarterback Matt Ryan confirmed what many fans saw with their eyes, as his Indianapolis Colts beat the Denver Broncos in what he called a "slob of a game" ...

"At the end of the day, I have to be better. I believe in what I can do. The Colts won the coin toss in overtime and got the ball first. I believe in what we can do. McManus made a 45-yard try 3:23 before the fourth quarter to make the score 9-6. They used seven plays to get to the Denver 31-yard line. McManus made another 44-yard attempt about four minutes into the second quarter to double the Broncos lead. I have to play better. The Broncos then used five plays to get to the Indianapolis 5-yard line but elected to go for a touchdown instead of a game-tying field goal on that drive's final play. As we prepared for them during the week, we knew it was going to be a challenge. The Broncos defense sacked Ryan six times. The Colts sacked

Matt Ryan Criticized by NFL Twitter as Colts Offense Struggles in OT ... (Bleacher Report)

The Indianapolis Colts failed to score more than 20 points in any of their first four games and were shut out by the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2.

Ryan threw another interception to Sterns in the third quarter, but Wilson managed to top him with two picks of his own in the fourth quarter. Still, the game remained winnable for the Colts because the Russell Wilson-led Broncos offense was equally as bad in regulation. It improved to 2-2-1 as a result even though Matt Ryan and the offense struggled.

He’s put the ball on the ground nine times, which is already a higher number than 10 of his 15 seasons, and the Colts have lost three of those. Let’s talk about how we can tighten it up a little bit.’ Which I know he’s evaluating and always doing.

Colts' Matt Ryan: Logs 251 passing yards in Week 5 (CBSSports.com)

However, the veteran quarterback started to find his rhythm late in regulation in the form of a 10-play 67-yard drive that culminated in a game-tying field goal ...

Ryan then stayed hot in the extra period by leading an eight-play, 45-yard drive that led to what would prove to be a game-winning field goal to send Indianapolis home as the improbable victor. For most of the night Thursday, Ryan and Russell Wilson engaged in a battle of disappointing-to-date offseason additions, with Colts' signal-caller even pushing his season-long fumble tally to a whopping 11 and producing his second multi-interception effort in five games. Ryan will hope to have Jonathan Taylor (ankle) back in action and finally get a grasp on his ball security issues during a Week 6 home divisional rematch with the Jaguars a week from Sunday.

Why did Matt Ryan go to the Colts? (Deseret News)

Veteran quarterback Matt Ryan will play his first prime time game of the season on Thursday when his Indianapolis Colts take on the Denver Broncos.

Ryan was ultimately traded in March, about a month before the 2022 NFL draft. After his own exhaustive research — including culling intel from former Colts quarterback Peyton Manning — there was just a singular answer in Ryan’s estimation: the Colts,” ESPN reported. “I love my Falcons, but the way that whole deal went down was a slap in the face.” He was traded by the Atlanta Falcons to the Colts after 14 seasons and a Super Bowl appearance. But Ryan’s friends and supporters have done so on his behalf, noting that he didn’t deserve to be tossed aside. He had deep roots in the Atlanta community, and had hoped to play for the team for his full career.

Matt Ryan Trade Details: Why Did the Falcons Trade Him to the Colts? (Pro Football Network)

The Atlanta Falcons traded QB Matt Ryan to the Indianapolis Colts this offseason. How and why did this trade happen?

So why did the Falcons and Ryan part ways after a 14-year career? Many had assumed that due to Ryan’s deep ties to the community in Atlanta, he would be apt to finish his career with the franchise that drafted him. While Taylor earned a First-Team All-Pro nod for his performance, the Colts were forced to ask QB Carson Wentz to put the team on his shoulders, but he could not deliver. After losing the Super Bowl in 2016 and a Divisional Round exit in 2017, the Ryan-led Falcons never found their way back to the postseason. But why would Indianapolis be interested in an aging Ryan — a quarterback who has regressed over the past few seasons? At first glance, this trade seems light, especially with a franchise quarterback as the centerpiece of the agreement.

Plot twist! Colts QB Matt Ryan wishing to be back with Atlanta Falcons (Blogging Dirty)

The Atlanta Falcons thought they did a good deed by trading longtime QB Matt Ryan to the Indianapolis Colts, but that has not been the case thus far.

Denver’s defense has been really good, so if the trend continues for the Colts, then it will be a huge feat for them to pick up their second win of the season. Meanwhile, the Atlanta Falcons are having a ton of success on the ground, the best pass protection they have had in quite a while, and a defense that has made critical stops in the last two weeks. Although unlikely with the magnitude of their issues, for all we know he will turn the ship around and guide them to the playoffs. Hopefully, Arthur Smith can get over .500 for the first time as a head coach in the NFL. Things are obviously far from over for Matty Ice and his team but early on it is looking like he would have been better off staying in Atlanta. Think about the biggest issue the Atlanta Falcons had for much of Matt Ryan’s tenure in Atlanta, and what the Colts’ biggest strength was last year. In his 14 full seasons in the NFL, he has only had three seasons where he has fumbled more than nine times. When was the last time we could say that was the case for Matt Ryan? We all figured that going from that receiving corps to one that featured Michael Pittman, Alec Pierce, and Parris Campbell wouldn’t be too big of an issue, but that has been anything but the case. Their offense has had some success late in games but for the most part, it has been a total disaster. You also have to credit Matt Ryan for carrying his team in week one, setting them up to kick a game-winning field goal to beat the Houston Texans, Matt Ryan is four weeks into his career as the Indianapolis Colts and things have not been good.

Malone grew up in Ellenwood, Ga., so the Falcons are his hometown team. The Colts were able to get Ryan for just the cost of a third-round pick. Malone has a 6-3, 243-pound frame, so most believed he would be a good fit as a 3-4 rush linebacker at the NFL level. Malone was a strong pass rusher during his time with the Hilltoppers, as he racked up 32.5 sacks in 61 career games. Ryan had been the Falcons' starter since the team made him the No. After some deliberation, coach Arthur Smith and general manager Terry Fontenot concluded that yes, it was time for the Falcons to retool.
