Perhaps one of the spriest Lakers was Nunn, who missed all of last season with a troublesome bone bruise in his knee. “Throw the coaching out and the other stuff, a fantastic human being that deserves a chance and I’m glad he got a chance,” Brown said. Brown was the first to hire Ham to an NBA staff back in 2011, putting him on course for a career that led him through Atlanta and Milwaukee. Ham called it “the nature of the beast.” The Athletic was first to report that trade talks continued up to the start of training camp, with the Lakers balking at sending out both of their 2027 and 2029 first-round picks in a potential deal. So far in camp, Ham said he has seen both of those boxes checked. As long as Russell Westbrook is a Laker, he’ll be facing an onslaught of trade rumors until the deadline in February.

Los Angeles Lakers: The one Russell Westbrook trade that seems ... (Sir Charles In Charge)

With the 2022-23 NBA season just a couple of weeks away, there seems to be one Russell Westbrook trade that seems inevitable for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Hield and Turner are two very good NBA veterans but the Lakers need to ask themselves if paying such a steep price (that of two future first-round picks) is worth this deal. Because before you answer that question, you have to answer whether or not the Lakers will have good health. [separate story](https://www.latimes.com/sports/lakers/story/2022-10-03/los-angeles-lakers-guard-matt-ryan-path-to-nba-cemetery), Lakers camp invitee [Matt Ryan](https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/r/ryanma01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&utm_source=direct&utm_medium=linker-)talks to Woike about the unusual preparations he had to take to get ready for the NBA after COVID-19 interrupted his final season in college. “The Lakers gave him an opportunity and knowing him, he’s going to fight, claw, do whatever he needs to do to make this thing right for him, his family, the organization and the city.” “None of this works if he’s not available and he’s not hitting on all cylinders,” Ham said. The biggest piece of our success.” “Throw the coaching out and the other stuff, a fantastic human being that deserves a chance and I’m glad he got a chance,” Brown said. And everything else will take care of itself.” New head coach Darvin Ham said Westbrook has been doing everything he’s asked to in practice, including finding ways to contribute without the ball in his hands. “I mean, it comes with the business. “Any outside noise, that’s par for the course,” Ham said. Kings coach Mike Brown gave Ham his first coaching opportunity, hiring him as an assistant on his staff with the Lakers in 2011. Woike confirms that the team has been considering trades for the embattled guard all summer, but it’s not willing to part with unprotected first-round picks in both 2027 and 2029. Everything else will take care of itself.

Should Lakers Rethink Stance on Keeping Russell Westbrook amid ... (Bleacher Report)

The Los Angeles Lakers opened their 2022 NBA preseason slate with Russell Westbrook in the starting lineup. They nearly went into that contest without him ...

Sure, the prospect of Westbrook flying around off the ball as a slashing and screen-setting super-athlete is fun, but it's not a novel idea. The should-he-stay-or-should-he-go debates are an unnecessary distraction for a team that needs everything to go right to make any kind of noise this season. Cashing them in now could mean missing out on a better deal down the line. Flipping Westbrook (and the picks) for Turner and Hield would erase those questions of fit immediately. People have wondered aloud for years whether he should change his approach, and the light bulb hasn't clicked yet. Turner would electrify the frontcourt with his shot-blocking and floor-spacing. That plan included him when they gave me the job." Because the Lakers have already pumped so many resources into this roster, those two future first-round picks are easily their best trade assets. If they were going to take that plunge, they wanted everyone on the same page, and it seems as if there's at least some support for keeping Westbrook around. Westbrook is also dynamic in the open court, but these aren't exactly the run-and-gun Showtime Lakers. "I have a plan for him. His strengths didn't make a ton of sense for this roster.

Lakers News: Anthony Davis Discusses His Improved Shooting After ... (LakersNation.com)

Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthony Davis discussed his shooting and the team's spacing after the preseason loss to the Sacramento Kings.

So it was a big part of the summer workouts.” It’s the best way to watch player interviews, exclusive coverage from events, participate in live shows, and more! I’ve started a game where I’ve been like 0-for-9 before but I’ve played 35-40 minutes, I got an opportunity to get my rhythm — 15 minutes and it was over with [tonight]. Also, Davis added he put in a lot of effort over the summer to fix his aim. “We were just out there playing hard, flying around, making efforts with our energy and that was it just knowing our time was limited as a unit,” he said. The forward said he never lost confidence in his shot, reiterating that a wrist injury limited his ability to score from distance last season.
