The Vikings lined up in a punt formation, but caught the Saints off guard with their fake-punt-turned-pass. Punter Ryan Wright, a former high school quarterback, completed a 13-yard pass to Adam Thielen for the first down, keeping the Vikings drive alive. The Saints have the most three-and-outs of any team in the league and with their starting quarterback out and Alvin Kamara as a late scratch, they had more obstacles to overcome. Minnesota then forced another turnover on the Saints return, but once again could only get a field goal on the fumble. The Vikings regained the lead after a 28-yard field goal by Joseph with just over a minute left in the half. The Vikings made a statement early, coming out and scoring a touchdown on their first drive.

10:41 a.m.: And now Cousins finds Jefferson — who cooked Lattimore — for a gain of 13 yards to the 30-yard line. New Orleans answers the Vikings with a 5-yard touchdown to the rookie Olave. Vikings punt goes for 33 yards to the Saints' 12-yard line. Nice patience by the receiver and Dalton to let the defenders clear out to give the receiver space for the catch. 10:35 a.m.: Dalton looks to call a screen at the line but it's sniffed out as Jarvis Landry is hit for only a yard gain on third-and-3. He plays it safe on the ensuing play for a 7-yard dump-off to Ingram to bring up fourth-and-7. Minnesota has it at the New Orleans 20 with less than a minute in the half. That brings the score to 16-14 Minnesota with 3:49 left in the third quarter. 11:56 a.m.: Dalton finds tight end Adam Trautman in the flat for an 11-yard gain down to the 2-yard line. 12:01 p.m.: Vikings face third-and-3 from their own 32, and Cousins finds Jefferson for a 3-yard gain to the 35. New Orleans makes it a three-point game as Dalton finds Landry late — but all alone — in the flats for a successful conversion.

7 takeaways from Week 4 Saints loss vs. Vikings (Saints Wire)

NFL fans across the pond in London, England were treated to a great game on Sunday between the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings.

That’s a treacherous stretch to walk into a 1-4 with a loss to one of the league’s most questionable rosters. It wouldn’t be the first time the Saints have gotten a look at an alternative option when they feel they need more from a position. By the time the Saints offense was clicking a bit more in the fourth quarter, the defense looked tired. So keeping focus is the right thing for the team, but things will have to shape up quickly to avoid further complications with a challenging stretch on the horizon. Whether its a stammering offense, inefficient play on special teams or key explosive plays given up on defense, the Saints are struggling to piece it all together. But New Orleans still has a lot to prove after a disappointing start of the season so far. We saw the New Orleans defense respond well when their offense stayed on the field and led longer drives, if the team wants to win more games this season, this will be a necessity. That’s a 12-point swing forced by Demario Davis and the Saints defensive unit. In a game in which the Saints finally got some rushing attempts going in the fourth quarter, Murray was their best option. Murray was stood up at the goal line, but fought through the defenders and stretched out to break the plane. He doesn’t seem to be slowing down, but a late ankle injury may be something to watch throughout the practice week. However, Saints fans were displeased after the team dropped its third-straight game and fell to 1-3 on the season.
