The Walking Dead Midseason-Premiere Recap: Beginning of the End (Vulture)

Intriguing opening tease aside, so far part three is idling when it should be revving up. A recap of “Lockdown,” the premiere episode of part three of the ...

Like the Negan sleeper-cell scheme, this goes a little too perfectly — on cue, the troops follow the sound of gunfire; in seconds, they’re surrounded and Daryl has Hornsby with a knife to the throat. The protests are a problem for Yumiko, too, in her role as Pam Milton’s chief counsel, but Magna makes it clear that whenever the gang makes their move to ditch this joint, Miko and her bro will not be left behind. All they need is (a) for Daryl to single-handedly go Rambo on Hornsby’s detail, (b) a perfectly timed car chase-slash-demolition derby, and (c) Negan talking his way past Mercer and the excruciatingly lengthy Commonwealth intake process. Deliver Sebastian now!” doesn’t really roll off the tongue.) But it helps that Jerry apparently knows all the other large men in town, who form a human wall and buy the kids some time to hide. “I’ve heard a lot of stories about when the world fell,” says a youthful narrator as we flashback through the series: Rick and the heroes, Shane and the villains, friends and the fallen. Lance Hornsby is on the warpath, Pam Milton has locked down the Commonwealth, plots are hatched, and counter-plots are hatched in response.

The Walking Dead Begins the End With More of the Middle (Gizmodo)

Does the show have a plan for the rest of its final season? Because the characters certainly don't.

Wouldn’t at least one of the soldiers get suspicious that he was being told to leave his post when zombies are on the way? To be fair, I don’t think the bad guys have a plan either. Furthermore, the zombies get through several lines of defense before Mercer, Rosita, and a very small team of Commontroopers head out to stop them. I feel like everyone would have benefitted from having a team meeting and figuring out what their goals were and how best to achieve them, partially because they’re all working at cross-purposes, but mostly it would be a lot more exciting to watch these people work together. But Carol and Negan hunt down Kingsley hiding in a secret room, passed-out drunk and urinating into mason jars, so they can safely escort him back to Pamela in exchange for the governor bringing Hornsby to heel. I’m equally fine with Negan being sent to the Commonwealth to warn Carol and the others that Hornsby will almost certainly be radioing home and sending his secret goons to kidnap the kids. Yumiko feels like she needs to stay in the Commonwealth even though as Pam’s lawyer the revolution will in all likelihood go poorly for her, and then Magna says she’ll stay if Yumiko stays. Carol even says they should blame Hornsby for the deaths, which would take the heat off the Milton family entirely and squash the revolution in its tracks. Although it’s repeatedly said that the article offers no proof that Sebastian caused the deaths of so many missing people, “Lockdown” reveals everyone in the Commonwealth believes it and has begun protesting outside Milton’s office, demanding that “Give Sebastian to us!” so… It is very important to me to note yet again that the newspaper shown in the previous episode looks like a terrorist manifesto, and an especially poorly designed one at that. Buffingsworth of the Cape Cod Buffingsworths](https://gizmodo.com/the-walking-dead-discovers-the-most-obnoxious-man-in-th-1847783810)—is the most awful person in the zombie apocalypse, so I can see why they’d love to skip a trial and get directly to the execution. [The Walking Dead](https://gizmodo.com/walking-dead-final-trailer-season-11-comic-con-zombies-1849196001)’s 11th and final season has begun, but it doesn’t seem like anyone notified the show.

The Walking Dead Season 11C Premiere Recap: The Series ... (TVLine)

Our recap of The Walking Dead Season 11, Episode 17 — Lockdown — reveals who's about to be sold out to save someone else's hide.

“If the time comes to go,” Magna said, “then we’re all going.” And when Negan revealed to Carol that he and Annie had married and were expecting — and he was worried about his wife out there — Carol sweetly assured him, “It’s gonna be OK.” So, what did you think of the Season 11C premiere? Was she about to throw Lance under the bus to get him to stop terrorizing her pals? And Daryl did manage to put a knife to his nemesis’ throat. At the same time, Negan persuaded Mercer to bend the rules and grant him a fast pass through processing by dropping Daryl’s name. [refresh your memory with our recap](https://tvline.com/2022/04/10/the-walking-dead-recap-season-11-episode-16-daryl-kills-leah-dies/) — the hour began with Negan being volunteered by Daryl to infiltrate the Commonwealth in order to protect our heroes’ loved ones there from Lance and his minions. So rather than get ahead of ourselves, let’s press “pause” for a moment and review the key developments in “Lockdown.”

'The Walking Dead' Season 11, Episode 17 Review: The ... (Forbes)

Our group of heroes encounters another group, conflict ensues, our heroes overcome the other group and move on. By this point in the story they should have killed off way, way more survivors so we could focus on the core cast for the final stretch. Need to find the brat Sebastian who’s hiding out? - I really like Rosita and I wish we got more of her. The best part of the episode was the action. all the same story. Daryl and Maggie and some of the other survivors take out pretty much all of Hornsby’s troops by the end of the episode and have him at knifepoint, grinning like a lunatic, when the credits roll. I’m not saying that nobody would protest, but the likelihood of this article sending the entire community out to the streets is very low—especially if we, once again, look at our own world and how few people actually go out and protest government transgressions and the various atrocities we encounter. Without a clear understanding of the politics and governmental structure of the Commonwealth itself, I find myself confused about Hornsby’s motives and actions. When a mysterious expose with no byline appears, the Commonwealth’s citizens take to the streets in protest. You don’t put gasoline and matches this close to the kindling and act surprised when a fire starts. Would a citizenry in a locked down, authoritarian survival colony rush to the streets to protest?

Does Daryl die in The Walking Dead? (Bam! Smack! Pow!)

Daryl Dixon is a fan favorite character in The Walking Dead but does he make it out of the long-running zombie drama alive?

[With the show concluding next month](https://bamsmackpow.com/2022/10/02/walking-dead-series-finale-date-final-episode-twd/), there is always a concern that he may not make it out alive before the series finale ends, but it looks like Daryl will indeed survive the final battle. Daryl is portrayed by Norman Reedus and he was first introduced in the show’s third ever episode “Tell It To The Frogs”. If you had to rank the most popular characters though, there is a strong chance that Daryl Dixon would find himself at the top spot.

Who is Medina Senghore that plays Annie on The Walking Dead? (Undead Walking)

The Walking Dead premiered season 11, part 3, on October 2. This is the eleventh and final season of the series. One stand out in the episode was Annie.

Annie proved a worthy ally when she suggested they head to the sewer tunnels to plan a sneak attack on Hornsby and his men. Introduced in season 11, episode 13, “Warlords,” Annie was a part of Negan’s new group Riverside. Other roles she is known for include Keeping Company, Dr. [Annie Smith](https://undeadwalking.com/2022/09/30/walking-dead-final-episodes-annie-fate/), Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) wife. One character who really stood out in episode 17, [“Lockdown,”](https://undeadwalking.com/2022/10/02/walking-dead-season-11-episode-17-lockdown-recap/) was Annie. The Walking Dead review: Episode 1117, “Lockdown” (Winter Is Coming)

Lockdown” begins right where the last episode left off: Lance turned up outside Oceanside and flipped a coin to decide the fate of the community.

The zombie herd is something of the background plot for the episode. This scene was the best emotional beat of the episode. Their first move is to get Jerry to take the kids to safety. I really loved the car chase scene as Negan and Daryl work together to escape the Commonwealth army. Eventually, he relays the plan to Carol, and now they start working together. There’s no empathy towards the people they are meant to protect. Carol and Negan ultimately locate Sebastian and offer to take him away to safety. Negan is the only character who is totally unknown to the Commonwealth, so he can go pretty much unnoticed. I mean, “Acts of God” left us on a pretty huge cliffhanger: Lance Hornsby turned up outside Oceanside and flipped a coin to decide the fate of the community. It’s not long before the rioters push harder and Pamela is escorted away. At this point in the season, the classic Walking Dead formula is in full effect. This definitely pulls on the heartstrings.

The Walking Dead Fans Spot Freddy Krueger Zombie in Newest ... (MovieWeb)

Fans have spotted what seems to be an Easter egg for A Nightmare on Elm Street in the final episodes of The Walking Dead.

Even stepping outside of horror, Nicotero even paid tribute to RoboCop in a season 8 episode with a walker designed to look like a character from the action sci-fi film. Romero flicks like Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead can be found in previous seasons, and a familiar crate from Creepshow can be spotted at one point as well. Now, [A Nightmare on Elm Street](https://movieweb.com/nightmare-on-elm-street/) can be added to the list as fans watching The Walking Dead on Sunday night observed a reference to Robert Englund's Freddy Krueger.

The Walking Dead season 11 episode 17 Lockdown recap (Undead Walking)

The Walking Dead premiered season 11, part 3, on October 2. This episode picked up soon after events from the midseason finale "Acts of God.

The Commonwealth is a powerful community full of powerful people who are used to getting what they want and haven’t had a group push back at them. She sends Jerry (Cooper Andrews) off with the children to take them to a secret safe space they have created. Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura) and Max (Margot Bingham) try to calm the Governor. They both stick to their principles and have strong opinions they keep to themselves. While Daryl and Aaron are gone, Carol (Melissa McBride) is taking care of the kids. She is doing sleuthing of her own as she knows that Hornsby has spies in the form of Calhoun (Michael Tourek) and Shira (Chelle Ramos). Yumiko meets with Magna (Nadia Hilker) to discuss what has transpired and the possibility that our survivors may need to leave the CW. When the episode begins, we hear Judith (Cailey Fleming) talk about how things used to be and how they are now. They are both outstanding at their jobs, and it is an impressive sight when they are teamed up. Now our survivors must regroup and decide how to proceed as the evil underbelly of the Commonwealth (CW) is being exposed. They are being pursued by Hornsby, who Daryl shot in episode 1116 and Maggie has been opposed to since being introduced to him. The opening credits have been expanded to include more cast members and beautifully animated versions of many iconic TWD locations.

Who is April on The Walking Dead? (Undead Walking)

April was a member of another group that Sebastian sent on the same mission, but she was the lone survivor. Connie created a rogue publication distributed to the Commonwealth’s residents with this information. He knew of a location with cash in a safe, but it was overrun by walkers. This was the beginning of the final installment of the series last season. They claimed that Governor Milton’s (Laila Robins) son Sebastian (Teo Rapp-Olsson), was responsible for her death. In part 2, episode 14, “The Rotten Core,” Sebastian threatened Rosita (Christian Serratos) and Daryl (Norman Reedus) with harm to their children if they didn’t do a job for him.
