Did Clemson win? DJ Uiagalelei and Tigers faced North Carolina State in AP Top 25 showdown with a 30-20 score ahead of Boston College.
On the season, he’s up to 242 rushing yards (48.4 yards per game) and three scores. Clemson’s 37th straight home win tied 1992-2001 Florida State for the longest streak in ACC history. State 30-20 on Saturday night,](https://www.thestate.com/sports/college/acc/clemson-university/article266679816.html) Clemson’s certainly trending in that direction. His nine-yard jump ball catch via Uiagalelei put Clemson up two scores in the third quarter (a final margin that held). A week after catching six passes for 72 yards and a touchdown against Wake Forest, Briningstool had four for 54 and a touchdown against N.C. Among Wake Forest injury holdovers, safety Andrew Mukuba (elbow) played, though his impact was diminished after a first-half targeting call. The second, a nine-yard naked bootleg, bouncing back after getting “baptized” against Wake Forest, or defensive end KJ Henry scrapping to secure a game-icing fumble, the little tweaks in big moments led the way. State for an ACC record-tying 37th straight home win and remain squarely in the College Football Playoff conversation. That’s peaked over the last two weeks with consecutive wins over ranked divisional opponents. Clemson’s defense led the way in a season-opening win against Georgia Tech. An evolving offense flashed against Furman and Louisiana Tech before flat-out carrying Clemson in last weekend’s 51-45 double overtime win against then-No.

Want to join in on the discussion? But it was the Tigers who controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, and they proved they can handle this kind of game. This was a game of trenches, which is exactly what NC State wanted and the way it wanted to win. 22 to have a shot at winning the division. The O-line has improved each and every week, and the five starters have finally built chemistry and cohesion. The defensive line turned it loose and greatly impacted the game, something they did not do a week ago for much of the game. It played like it had something to prove to itself, not to the rival. The "next man up" mentality gets overused, but Clemson proved it had enough guys to do so. The Tigers also overcame losses in the secondary and won without key defensive tackle Bryan Bresee. But this season has shown a renewed appreciation and sense of what it takes to win football games. You've got to be able to hit the fastball, curveball, change-up, you got to have them all. Somewhere along the line, the offense like last week, it's gonna have to go win it.
The victory against N.C. State gives Clemson football a leg up in ACC Atlantic Division race and puts a bull's-eye squarely on Tigers' back again.
The Tigers are 5-0, including a 3-0 mark in the ACC, and face back-to-back road trips to Boston College and Florida State before returning home for four of their final five games. The Tigers get Syracuse at home on Oct. The importance of Clemson’s six-point win at Wake Forest last week can’t be overstated after the Demon Deacons strolled into Tallahassee, Florida, and knocked out the previously undefeated Seminoles 31-21 Saturday. “It was their first-ever Top 10 matchup,” Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said of the Wolfpack. Clemson’s latest triumph not only extended the nation’s longest active home winning streak to 37 games but also put a bull’s-eye squarely on the Tigers’ back yet again. It’s a familiar perch, and one to which Clemson and its high-demand fan base have grown accustomed.

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) – Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei passed for 209 yards and a score and ran for a career-high 73 yards and two touchdowns to lead No.
In the fourth quarter, Uiagalelei gave Clemson some more breathing room, leading the Tigers 58 yards in 4:35, and on the ninth play of the drive, he spun to his left and ran the ball nine yards into the end zone. NC State added a final touchdown with 53 seconds to play. Uiagalelei then completed a seven-yard touchdown pass to Jake Briningstool, increasing Clemson’s lead to 20-10 with 12 minutes left in the third quarter. The Tigers would go into halftime with momentum as they scored their first touchdown of the night to take a 13-10 lead. The Tigers had the ball first and went on a 13-play, 72-yard drive that ate up 6:38 of clock, ending in a 20-yard B.T. Clemson’s defense recorded three sacks and two turnovers and held NC State to only 34 rushing yards on 21 carries.
CLEMSON — As Clemson drove the field for a game-sealing drive, coach Dabo Swinney just needed a little courage from quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei.
“Just seeing young guys grow and just mature and just rising to the occasion,” Goodwin said. “We’re just a little more experienced, a little more mature, healthier, and we’re just better. For the second week in a row, Uiagalelei and the offense had the savvy to lead the Tigers to a win over a ranked ACC opponent. We gotta treat this game like it’s the biggest game of the year.” “That catch down the sideline, just incredible,” Streeter said. and it shows in the game.” But a win over the Wolfpack also strengthens the Tigers’ playoff case, if they can stay in the hunt. State, Clemson has a strong upper hand in the race for the ACC Atlantic Division. “They got a bunch of guys on both sides of the ball that are captains and all-conference players and very experienced.” Just like in the Peyton Manning and Tom Brady highlights Uiagalelei has seen, he was able to hide the ball from N.C. Uiagalelei was half-expecting a safety to sniff it out and deck him as he rolled to his left with the ball. Swinney just had a feeling it would work on a third-and-goal from the N.C.
Note: The following appears in the NC State football gameday program. Too many young people endure their college experience instead of enjoying it.
This is the vision of P.A.W. This “stopping and smelling the roses” mindset is the embodiment of P.A.W. College is not meant to be a burden, it is meant to lead to personal and professional elevation. “‘College’ reminds me to have fun with my brothers and enjoy these moments,” added Jake Briningstool. Journey’s purpose is to prevent them from falling victim to this challenge by equipping them to make the most of their college experience. Journey encourages those it serves to internalize this understanding as they embark on their journeys. Journey ambassador who has interned with Adobe, Pepsi and Synnex, defined it this way. To find enjoyment in where you are and where you are headed, and to seamlessly transition into the world ready to continue seeking that fulfillment…that is “College.” It is important to not become so consumed with the physical health needed for achievement in football that they neglect the mental and emotional health needed for excellence in their daily lives. Too many young people endure their college experience instead of enjoying it. Thus, for Clemson’s football scholar-athletes, P.A.W. With the demands on a student-athlete’s time and the pressures to be great at every turn, it is easy to fall victim to the college experience becoming a check-the-box obligation for a well-paying job.
Clemson football took home a big College GameDay win over NC State Saturday night. Here's a look at how social media reacted.
Swinney and his team showed up in the spotlight and took home a massive win for their season. In a top-10 battle between the two top teams in the ACC, Clemson proved to be the better team on both sides of the ball Saturday night. Dabo Swinney and the Tigers showed up in a big way Saturday night as No.5 Clemson took down No.10 NC State 30-20 at Death Valley as they hosted ESPN’s College GameDay.
Head coach Dabo Swinney met with the media on Sunday to discuss Clemson's win over NC State, as well as provide the latest update on Bryan Bresee.
We've been able to come up with the crucial stop when we've had to have it and the crucial score when we've had to have it. "Refocus, and get ready to grow with another great week of preparation," Swinney said. "That's when we're at our best around here when we can involve a lot of different players and we can win different ways and that's who we've been for a long time," Swinney said. So excited about turning the page and getting focused on BC." "That makes you dangerous when you got a lot of guys that can do something with it. We felt like we had a great play call the one play where we snapped the ball early. "Great players have consistency in their performance, regardless of who they play against and it's good to see. "Everything was good again (Sunday)," Swinney said regarding the status of Bresee. Purchase collectibles from Dear Old Clemson and the proceeds with go to support Clemson student-athletes. The good news is the injuries that popped up for Clemson on Saturday don’t appear to be serious. State’s top-10 defense had something to do with it, the running game as a whole was average, a step back from the production the Tigers had on the ground the previous two games. Clemson’s quarterback was 21 of 30 passing for 209 yards and a touchdown, but he was the most effective he’s been in the rushing department. Potter showed he’s human, pulling a 46-yard field-goal attempt to the left midway through the third quarter for his first miss of the season. Uiagalelei accounted for right at half of Clemson’s output on the ground as the Tigers averaged just 3.8 yards per carry. The Wolfpack hit on a 32-yard completion, their longest play of the night, on their opening possession, but Clemson allowed just one more play in excess of 20 yards the rest of the night. That came on the heels of their 120 yards worth of penalties against Wake Forest the week prior. The Tigers have strung together consecutive turnover-free games for the first time this season and sit at 21st nationally with a plus-5 turnover margin on the year. Thayer Thomas came in averaging 18.5 yards per punt return for NC State, but Clemson limited him to just one return for 3 yards. Clemson forced two turnovers, both coming in the second half. And Clemson shut down NC State’s run game (34 net rushing yards), making the Wolfpack one-dimensional.

It’s built around ball control and taking what’s given to you, and it’s pretty boring and uncreative a lot of the time. That’s the reality of the game. It’s unfortunate that State has gotten pretty much the worst case scenario trying to replace Emezie, because the rest of the team is ready and there are at least six guys that could seize that opportunity. There is not much there at receiver and in this particular game, those problems were exacerbated by State’s inability to match up at the line of scrimmage. Leary took all the underneath stuff in the first half sans the one shot to Carter on the first drive and left with a great completion percentage. None of that is surprising, and all of it should factor into any evaluation of the game. This is really the root of State’s offensive issues. There are not a lot of places down the field for Leary to go with the football because his targets don’t separate from coverage well. State made its share of mistakes, but the Pack was outgunned because its biggest issues right now are personnel-based. Clemson dominated the line of scrimmage, and the Tigers won the game’s biggest moments because of it. You’re going to hear this take a lot, no doubt, but Clemson is good, and it played well under the lights at home. State would punt two plays later, Clemson would extend its lead, and it would only look back a couple of times.
