7:20 p.m. As he did in London, Hawkins’ teen son Shane has joined Foo Fighters to perform “My Hero” as well as “I’ll Stick Around.” Technically, the kid is a beast — he deserves the huge applause he’s getting on musical grounds alone. Grohl’s voice sounds close to breaking in a furious “Walk” with Travis Barker on drums. First up is Josh Freese, who’s powering the band through a ferocious “All My Life.” concert-going, I have never seen this place this crowded before 8 p.m. Pink is back onstage with Queen to sing “Somebody to Love,” which Taylor Hawkins famously used to sing as part of Foo Fighters’ live show. Elliot Easton of the Cars is now jamming with the Foo Fighters and Josh Homme on the new wave classic “Shake It Up.” The Gen X-ers in the house are pumped. And as if to prove it, Ronson — the producer and “Uptown Funk” hitmaker — does a very smooth rendition of Gerry Rafferty’s ”Right Down the Line” with a band featuring Grohl, Roger Manning of Jellyfish and Andrew Wyatt of Miike Snow. “Not to make light of this situation,” she says, “but Taylor would have loved that my t—s just fell out.” “I’m really nervous,” Shane says, calling the group “one of the best f– cover bands I’ve ever heard in my life.” They’re shredding through Led Zeppelin’s “Rock and Roll.” “This is the hometown s—, so you gotta make it loud.” Grohl says the idea of tonight’s show is to “spend some time in [Hawkins’] musical mind, which could be a pretty terrifying place,” and to “celebrate this person that has touched our lives.” The lights have gone down, and Grohl’s 16-year-old daughter, Violet, has taken the stage for a rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” (by way of Jeff Buckley), accompanied only by an electric guitarist.
The musicians join Foo Fighters on stage, in the second of two tribute concerts for the drummer.
"This one's for Taylor," Grohl told the audience at LA's Kia Forum. If you have a story suggestion email [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]). He was playing drums for Alanis Morissette," recalled singer Joe Elliot. As at that concert, Hawkins' children played a key role, with his teenage son Shane stepping behind the drum kit for a blistering rendition of the Foo Fighters' hits My Hero and I'll Stick Around. Pink made several appearances during the concert, joining Heart's Nancy Wilson to duet on Barracuda, before tackling Queen's Somebody To Love - a song that Hawkins often covered in concert himself - and teaming up with Foo Fighters to sing The Pretender at the show's finale. Drummer Shane, 16, joined the Foo Fighters onstage to perform "My Hero" and "I’ll Stick Around." Pink joined Queen's Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor to front "Somebody to Love," the anthem that Hawkins used to perform in Foo Fighters’ concerts. The singer did not reflect on Hawkins, but shared a long hug with Grohl before exiting. Grohl’s 16-year-old daughter, Violet, kicked the concert off with a stirring rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah," accompanied by Alain Johannes on electric guitar. A toxicology report indicated the presence of 10 substances in his body, including benzodiazepines and opioids. Miley Cyrus joined Def Leppard; Pink performed with Queen and Heart's Nancy Wilson; Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx sang as a shirtless Tommy Lee ferociously beat the drums.

The most memorable moments from Taylor Hawkins' L.A. tribute concert, from Dave Chappelle to Pink.
She said, ‘Get everybody to sing it as my gift to the love of my life.'” May sang the tune in a choked-up voice as phone flashlights lit up the arena, and Alison and her children came on stage and embraced. He wasn’t the only drummer to show emotion during the last few songs — Rufus Taylor broke down while drumming “Best of You,” and Smith had to take a moment before launching into the show’s last song, “Everlong.” But there was plenty of support to go around, as everyone exchanged tight hugs and long embraces as the night came to a close. In one of the most tender moments of the show, Brian May took the stage solo to perform the ballad “Love of My Life.” He explained that he wasn’t planning on performing the song, but Hawkins’ widow, Alison, asked him to. As the song ended, Chappelle dropped the mic and walked off stage as Grohl laughed, “Didn’t see that one coming, did ya?” If there was a MVP award of the night, it would have undoubtedly gone to Pink, who appeared on stage for three different songs with three iconic bands and crushed all of them. And the other time I saw him in this room, he was not blowing minds, he was in the audience just like you, and he was watching one of the best fucking shows of all time. Following a rousing set by Wolfgang Van Halen that included “Panama” and “Hot for Teacher,” the glam-metal trend continued with an appearance by Def Leppard. He really meant it and it was important to him. And it was a beautiful thing to see because he was serious, no fucking around. Photos of the late drummer — who died suddenly in March at the age of 50 while Foo Fighters were on tour — adorned the walls of the arena, and his signature hawk logo was omnipresent as thousands of admirers came to pay their respects, many of them already sporting the limited edition merch made for the event. “So I just want to say thank you for having me, thanks Taylor for being there with me. The impressive lineup was practically a lesson in rock ‘n’ roll history, including the likes of Joan Jett, Travis Barker, Josh Homme, Wolfgang Van Halen, Alanis Morrissette,
