Argentina will put their 34-match unbeaten run on the line when the Albiceleste meet Jamaica on Tuesday in the final tuneup match ahead of the 2022 World ...

— It's a near full-strength team for Jamaica with the forward pair of Michail Antonio and Shamar Nicholson who will be a handful for Argentina's defenders. 60 mins from kickoff: The big news is that Lionel Messi will not be in the starting lineup tonight due to illness. It's been a choppy end to the first half with long stoppages in play with Jamaican players staying on the ground. They take on a Jamaica side that won't be going to the World Cup, but will be eager to match up against the No. Argentina is just waiting for the mistake. He was rewarded with the goal and he got to do his Spider-man celebration (below). Julian Alvarez involved in the buildup once again with a sharp pass into Lautaro Martinez and the Inter Milan forward blasts it high. His run in the middle of the box was timely as the Lautaro Martinez cross came in. Alexis Mac Allister is likely to operate in the deep central position. The likes of Rodrigo De Paul and Leandro Paredes will also sit out, but Angel Di Maria and Julian Alvarez are in. Extending that undefeated mark to 35 straight games, and doing it to the tune of a few goals would be music to manager Lionel Scaloni's ears.

Julian Alvarez opened the scoring in Argentina's 3-0 victory over Jamaica, in his nation's penultimate game before the World Cup.

Following 10 goalless minutes after the interval, Scaloni turned to the talismanic Lionel Messi to secure his side the victory – to which he duly obliged. Former City defender Nicolas Otamendi was in the thick of the action within the first five minutes, when his teasing header from a cross found Giovanni Lo Celso, who failed to control the looping ball when inside the box. And it took him only 13 minutes to score his second goal for La Albiceleste when he expertly tapped home Lisandro Martinez’s cut back from six yards out, after the Inter Milan man weaved his way to the touchline.

Blaming The Rich In Argentina, A Peronist Tactic (Forbes)

The political support groups of the government in Argentina have been walking the tight rope as the "workers movement" mobilizes massively against inflation ...

As Massa tends to the Economy Ministry in order to try to pull the rabbit out of the hat and become a palatable presidential candidate, Cristina focused on "lawfare" and Alberto in zombie mode, the opposition seems to be mimicking Count Ugolino in Dante’s ninth circle of hell. Fragmentation is a very real possibility, and that could even pave the way to an unlikely Peronist victory, or the emergence of an outsider like liberal economist Javier Miliei. What was even more pathetic than this attempt to distract the public was the fact that it was the Kirchnerites who defended a system of public subsidies that was regressive in nature. The Cassation Court ruling wouldn’t be ready before 2024, which would give CFK time to execute her strategy of retreating to Buenos Aires Province ahead of next year’s election, gaining a seat in the Senate and most crucially, immunity, until at least 2029, by which time she’ll be 76 years old and, even if finally convicted by the Supreme Court, would only face home detention. Alberto appears to have finally lost all semblance of power while Cristina had once again receded into the background until the attempted assasination attempt and is now focusing on beefing up her own image, apparently giving Massa the rope to either hang himself with or pull the economy out of its vortex of doom. The ruling Frente de Todos coalition, led by Alberto Fernández and Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, ultimately runs a Peronist administration, so they can’t really be accused by the country’s largest and most powerful unions of being responsible for the galloping inflation that is eating away at workers’ wages.
