The Winning Mix: 3 keys to a victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers (clevelandbrowns.com)

Browns look to get to back on track against the Steelers on Thursday Night Football.

Wouldn't ya know that since entering the NFL in 2018, Nick Chubb leads the NFL in rushing yards (3,791), yards per carry (5.8) and rushing touchdowns (28) on runs outside of the tackles. Another wrinkle for DC Joe Woods is the idea of blitzing Trubisky, who is completing just 33 percent of his passes for 3.9 yards per attempt and a 68 rating against the blitz. So play tight and expect the ball out quickly and the Browns should be able to contain this anemic passing attack and potentially get their hands on the ball for game changing interceptions. Last week, the Patriots gashed the Steelers on the ground, with their running backs alone rushing 24 times for 118 yards (4.9 yards per carry) and a touchdown. The Browns have been generating 5.1 yards per carry and they already have four rushing scores. So, if they can clean up those mistakes and not beat themselves, the Browns will beat the Steelers and get to 2-1.

Pittsburgh has lost the last six games in which it failed to sack the opposing QB. One can certainly justify trading Cooper on the basis of the aforementioned disconnect concerns, but with the way the Browns offense is playing it had better be for top value. The Browns offense was supposed to take a huge backwards step with Jacoby Brissett under center, but that hasn’t happened as Cleveland ranks sixth in offensive points per drive this year (2.67). The Browns have been able to do this despite facing loaded boxes quite frequently, as opposing defenses have put eight defenders in the tackle box on 44.7 percent of Cleveland’s rushing plays. Cleveland ranks first in the league expected points added (EPA) on rush attempts with a 12.49 mark in this category. Watt, who is on injured reserve. Pittsburgh also has allowed the second highest target volume to wide receivers, while Cleveland ranks tied for fourth in wide receiver touchdowns allowed. [objectively good numbers for opening week](https://theathletic.com/3612087/2022/09/22/amazon-thursday-night-football-viewership/) — Amazon promised advertisers an average of 12.5 million viewers for the season — and we’ll get into that below. The company said its audience was seven years younger than the linear NFL audience through Week 2 of the 2022 season (46 years vs. That would put Amazon at 11.8 million viewers on its own for the main broadcast. Steelers QB Mitch Trubisky warming up in familiar surroundings. If the Browns don't score early or give up a big play early, maybe some doubt will set in after last week’s defensive breakdowns.

If Amazon Prime can make Steelers-Browns watchable, world ... (Deadspin)

Tonight Mitch Trubisky tries to fend off Kenny Pickett while Browns fans try to stave off human decency.

There’s a solid chance that the inability to move the ball has more to do with just the guy under center. Roger Goodell looked like he was already sick of Bezos’ jokes during the cut-in we got last Thursday, and even the founder of Amazon has a clique he wants to infiltrate. The pictures Sunday were impossible to ignore on Twitter, and it’s kind of a big story. Tonight’s game between Pittsburgh and Cleveland features one AFC North team trying to find the heir to Ben Roethlisberger on the field, another trying to get its Roethlisberger back on the field, and it’s all neatly packaged on a streaming service with occasional lag. The streaming service got dragged on social media for lagging, and it probably had more to do with people’s home internet than anything else. Mitch Trubisky facing off with Jacoby Brissett is more along the lines of whatever DC’s next attempt at a franchise is, and thus why fan interest wanes over the course of forgettable matchups like Bears-Commanders, Falcons-Panthers, or any contest involving the Texans.

Browns-Steelers takeaways: Bounce-back provides relief after ... (Akron Beacon Journal)

The Browns found relief in the wake of Sunday's heartbreak as they were able to come back in a short week to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Browns now have a mini-bye now before they have to get ready for an Oct. Considering the amount of work he's gotten as a tackle eligible in multiple-tight-end sets, it may not be far down the road. York's missed point-after kick after Chubb's touchdown opened the door for the Jets to win in regulation. Sure enough, the Steelers came down and took a 14-13 lead on Mitch Trubisky's touchdown run. The win over the Steelers, though, allowed some of those players to shed any of that baggage. That allowed the Browns to essentially leave Pittsburgh with virtually no time left to mount a final stunning comeback drive. That debate was worn into the ground between late Sunday afternoon and late Thursday afternoon. Anthony Schwartz batted the ball out of bounds to do so, although a Steelers offside penalty on the play would've accomplished the same goal. That's because they didn't quite follow the same script that they had just four days earlier when they [lost on the same field](https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/pro/browns/2022/09/18/score-cleveland-browns-new-york-jets-game/69496473007/) to the New York Jets. They once again saw it whittled down to a one-score lead. They once again built a two-score lead in the fourth-quarter. “It was really important to come out and bounce back," said receiver Amari Cooper, who had his second consecutive 100-yard receiving game, with 101 yards on seven catches and a touchdown.

Browns Troll Steelers After Loss With George Pickens Meme (Steelers Depot)

The Cleveland Browns could easily be 3-0 right now had they not had a most improbably collapse on Sunday in the final two minutes of the game. As it is,

Quarterback Mitch Trubisky did target him seven times last night, after acknowledging on Sunday, for the second week in a row, that they needed to get him involved more. For his part, Pickens did have the chance to make another spectacular catch, a 36-yard grab, on the night, but he still only has five catches on the season. After the game, they shared the meme as well, only this time modified to show Pickens staring at the final score, his Steelers in a losing effort.

Wild Final Play of Browns-Steelers Was Ultimate Bad Beat for Bettors (Sports Illustrated)

Cleveland's defense wound up scoring a very notable touchdown on a failed trick play by Pittsburgh.

However, a lower-scoring second half kept the score in check for the under to potentially hit. Pittsburgh had the ball deep in their own territory down six with nine seconds left in the game, so for their final play they called a lateral to try and pull off a miracle victory. Normally, that play will only matter to fantasy football players who have the Browns defense on their team. That was until the Steelers final play went so poorly as to push the score over the official line, breaking the hearts of under bettors everywhere and bailing out the over bettors. It did not go as planned, as the Steelers ultimately fumbled the ball at their own goal line, leading to the Browns recovering the ball in their own endzone for a defensive touchdown. [Steelers](https://www.si.com/nfl/team/pittsburgh-steelers)- [Browns](https://www.si.com/nfl/team/cleveland-browns) game on Thursday night wasn’t in much doubt late in the game as Cleveland came away victorious, but the result of the final play still mattered to many people.
