'Chicago Fire' Bosses Tease Who's Doing What to Who on the ... (Parade Magazine)

'Chicago Fire' showrunners Derek Haas and Andrea Newman give Parade readers the scoop on what's happening with Stella Kidd, Kelly Severide, Sylvie Brett, ...

For Violet, it’s really just been Hawkins for a stretch and now she’s struggling with the cost to both of their personal and professional lives that they had to pay, and how to navigate that. Andrea: She’s definitely going to keep it going but she’s going to have to delegate a bit, too. I think the bottom line is Violet doesn’t know that yet and she was feeling a little left out in the cold by him because she doesn’t know anything about the efforts that he made. They didn’t have a good refrigeration unit on the boat and so that’s just a delivery. She’s got her life, and she wants to make sure that she’s the one driving it. The final scene in last season’s finale, we see that Severide and Stella are in danger because Severide always insists on always doing the right thing. She’s a stronger character and now her feeling is she’s not going to move. One of the reasons that Brett has said she can’t move to be with Casey is because of her paramedicine program. When people drop in out of the blue, it tends to sometimes rile things up, as when Dawson (Monica Raymund) came back for her charity event with Casey. She moved initially at the beginning for an ex and when she was with the chaplain, she moved to Indiana. Andrea Newman: We always like to reflect what’s going on out there in the world. The story picks back up there in the first episode in season 11, while Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) ponders the status of her long-term relationship with Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) following Severide and Kidd’s wedding.

'Chicago Fire': Kidd and Severide Are 'Hotter' Than Ever in Season ... (Entertainment Tonight)

'This season, the stakes really have never been higher... for all of our guys,' co-showrunner Andrea Newman tells ET.

"It really had everything that we do when we do it right, which is real emotion and real stakes forged onto these characters that you've come to know and love over all this time. "I'm so excited about the first half of this season because as scripts come in and then as episodes come in, you just get super, super excited," Haas says, pointing to episode 4 -- written by Newman -- as a highlight of the first half of the season, calling it "the best script I've seen in 11 years on the show." "The only way to pull through when that kind of tragedy strikes is to lean on each other. "We have the stakes of [Chief] Boden wanting to pull off the best haunted house ever at 51," she says. Newman, in turn, called out the fifth episode, which is Chicago Fire's Halloween hour, as an equally entertaining one. "Those are the things in season 11 you're going to get to see," he continued. They're creating a totally different kind of relationship model and marriage than anything we've seen before. And that's how they make it through, being supported by each other." That's not to say that Severide and Kidd are going to be any less hot than they were." Meanwhile, Kidd’s former academy classmate, Sam Carver (Jake Lockett), joins the team at 51, setting up a tense reunion for the duo. But when you get to go this long you get to see, 'Oh no, no, wait.' All of those things that happened before have made her into the character that she is. "He's a playboy, she's tight.

And the truth is, we do these ride-alongs with them, and the stories are never-ending in Chicago, so that helps us a lot. We have had a great time charting their growth as characters and who they've become, contrasting with who they started as, which makes it fun and keeps the momentum. There's a spoiler-- needing a head, and he said, this is true, "I have one in my car." Severide and Kidd get to play a lot of exciting action in the premier, with the fallout of the truck arriving. With the COVID restrictions and everything, we weren't in a place where we could get those many cast members occupying the same stages yet from the three different shows. It will be a struggle, and we will slowly peel back layers on this Carver guy. He's got, he's got some complicated backstory, and we'll just keep finding out more about him, but he'll also be stirring the pot a bit at 51 at the same time. It seems like the distance is driving a wedge between Casey and Brett. Right when you have forgotten about her, she and Gorsh are going to ride in on a white horse. And then the other is a surge rollercoaster; it comes out with a huge bang. But I think on a personal level, it will only be good for him and Violet going forward. One is the kind that starts slow and builds and builds.

City Council backs Chicago Fire soccer training facility on CHA land ... (Chicago Tribune)

Less than 24 hours after a panel rejected the plan on public housing land, the decision was reversed and then endorsed by the full council.

The city would not have to pay anything to the Fire should its deal with the CHA come to fruition, but the soccer team would pay out a 40-year lease with two potential 10-year renewals. Karen Vaughan, a CHA spokeswoman, said in a Wednesday statement that the agency is submitting an application to HUD for review of the Chicago Fire plan. “I support it because the CHA residents support this.” Should the Near West Side facility come to fruition, Chicago Fire games would not change location from Soldier Field. “Please do not hold that against the residents of Brooks Homes and Loomis Courts apartments.” “We actually welcome this as an opportunity to build community and have worked incredibly hard with the Fire to make this something that would push housing. “I have a lot of residents in my 75%-renter ward here in the 49th who are on (the) CHA waitlist. Moore stated, of course there are some challenges we all have faced with the CHA,” Ervin said. Plans call for two hybrid grass pitches and a goalkeeper pitch; an underground heating system; a sand pit; three synthetic turf pitches, one with an inflatable dome for use six months of the year; a two- to three-story office building, an auxiliary structure for maintenance and storage and a parking structure for 147 vehicles. Maria Hadden, 49th, said the CHA was not fulfilling its promise to add more affordable housing. The Zoning committee voted 7-5 Tuesday to turn down a revised proposal for the pending development on the Near West Side.

City Council approves Chicago Fire's training center on Near West ... (Chicago Sun-Times)

The 36-11 vote came after a debate over the project's merits in an area beset by poverty and whether the land could be better used for public housing.

Tunney said the development would provide income for the CHA to build and improve its housing. “We are in the system where the alderman is the one who represents and knows what’s best, that he or she is the person that comes to this body, advocates for their communities and is expected to answer back to them,” said Ald. With better attendance Wednesday morning, the Committee on Zoning, Landmarks and Building Standards reconvened to pass the matter 9-5 and immediately reported it to the City Council, setting up final passage. We should be getting a lot more” in the deal, Ramirez-Rosa said. Critics said the nearly 26-acre site should be set aside for the Chicago Housing Authority to meet its commitment to build new units. For about 45 minutes, alderpersons debated the issue, touching on topics such as the CHA’s track record on delivering new housing, the wealth of Fire owner Joe Mansueto, and alderpersons’ control over zoning.

Chicago Fire Bosses Explain Premiere's 'Brettsey' Decision, Tease ... (TVLine)

'Chicago Fire' bosses explain Season 11 premiere's Brett and Casey decision and preview what's next for Violet and [spoiler]'s relationship.

He’s the best guy in the world because he genuinely loves Violet, and so he genuinely wants the best for her and had to do that. Even though Gallo did the right thing when he helped facilitate this reconciliation, he lost the girl in the process. They can be together and be together in public, and it’s a whole new chapter for them, being able to be out in the world as a couple and really explore that together. So I can tell you that we found that audiences, for some reason, love it when couples go out of town together. First of all, the stars aligning element, which he had in his life and is fortunate to have, and she’s painfully aware she doesn’t have, but also the fact that she had changed up her whole entire life to move to be with [Kyle] and just a reminder that that’s not who she is anymore. Having the chaplain be the one who triggered, so to speak, this decision by Brett was unexpected. So that’s gong to be something she’s struggling with as she tries to move forward. Do you feel like you have to keep her single for a long time, just to kind of give people time to mourn that relationship? She says, “Maybe some day.” Do you hope to revisit the relationship, if the stars align with Jesse Spencer? As you were playing out the storyline with her and Casey last season, did you find that carrying out an off-screen, long-distance relationship proved to be more difficult than you anticipated? So it’s a lot of fun to see. Below, showrunners Andrea Newman and Derek Haas explain why “Brettsey” had to break up and reveal whether the door is really closed on the couple.

'Chicago Fire' Bosses on Brettsey's Fate, 'Hotter' Stellaride & More (TV Insider)

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for the Chicago Fire Season 11 premiere “Hold on Tight.”] · Why break up Brett and Casey? · Andrea Newman: · What are ...

What do you do in that situation when you have to rely on the people on your right and your left? But they’re going to have a lot of fun still as the three amigos, stuff we always like to play with her, Ritter [Daniel Kyri], and Gallo together as friends. Gallo, definitely, his feelings are the same but he’s going to do his damnedest to bury them by having a lot of fun with other — As much as it’s great in a lot of ways, it also changes the dynamic of their relationship a little, too, but they’re going to have some fun adventures. We pull up to an accident and we pull someone out of harm’s way and they’re fine, going off to the hospital. And Gallo is very much part of it in that he’s obviously still in love with Violet, holding a candle for her, but at the same time, he’s the one that facilitated them getting back together, so he knows he’s gotta let that attachment to Violet go in the sense of the romantic part. We love the actor, and it’s going to be fun. And there’s the Gallo of it. But in terms of their bond, it’s like the chains are off and they’re unbound and it’s just gotten hotter between them. Andrea Newman: It was really a character decision in a lot of ways, even though Jesse had made his choice to move on, and it was becoming very difficult to do the long-distance thing. He’s been such a lone wolf for a lot of his life and now he’s married and he makes decisions not just for himself but for Kidd as well when he makes them. They were deeply in love, so it’s going to take her a while to be able to move on into relationships from that.

Chicago Fire Season 11 Already Set Up Casey's Return (Screen Rant)

Not long after Jesse Spencer's departure, the Chicago Fire season 11 premiere already subtly set-up Matthew Casey's return to the show.

[Chicago Fire season 10 finale](https://screenrant.com/chicago-fire-season-10-finale-emma-violet-firehouse-51-mystery/), it's also safe to assume that Casey is also still committed to her. Eventually, when the time is right, the One Chicago series can finally bring back Spencer's Casey to the East Coast in an attempt to revive their relationship that has been unexpectedly cut short. For now, Chicago Fire season 11 should use this time to develop her character as she focuses on her career and paramedicine program. Luckily, the Chicago Fire season 11 premiere has seemingly laid the groundwork for that. [Chicago Fire](https://screenrant.com/tag/chicago-fire/) season 11 has already set up Matthew Casey's (Jesse Spencer) return to the show. 'Chicago Fire' 11×01 Review: “Hold On Tight” (Fangirlish)

THE END OF BRETTSEY? CHICAGO FIRE — “Hold on Tight” Episode 1101 — Pictured: (l-r) Hanako Greensmith as Violet, Kara Killmer as Sylvie Brett — ( ...

Dealing with where the relationship is moving, what the next step is, and what they want to be together. We already knew Violet was suffering because she made a picture in her head about the worst-case scenario, and Evan was suffering because he went the extra mile for Violet and she didn’t seem to care. We – and Kelly – know Stella is a born leader, now it’s just up to her to prove it to others, and if needed, to herself. [Chicago Fire](https://fangirlish.com/tag/chicago-fire/) airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC. [Chicago Fire](https://fangirlish.com/tag/chicago-fire/) 11×01 “Hold on Tight”? One could argue they’ve been a unit for a while, but there’s something about making it official that clicks in your brain (and in the brain of bad guys, clearly). [Chicago Fire](https://fangirlish.com/tag/chicago-fire/) really does feel like watching a show where every character is part of the same thing, and the Firehouse is a sum of all its parts. But of course, whether [Chicago Fire](https://fangirlish.com/tag/chicago-fire/) can truly be a comfort show or not might just depend on the reason you’re watching the show in the first place – and those reasons are not just varied and contradictory, but all very much valid. And like …we already knew this was the case. He makes a commitment to be better in this episode, and the thing is …it’s hard to change things like this one in the blink of an eye, especially when – like Kelly Severide – you’re used to having to do things alone. And though it is true that long-distance relationships are hard, and that Sylvie’s storylines for the past year have mostly involved her being sad or looking at a phone, there were also options that just had them together off-screen and everyone mostly happy, or at least dealing. Brettsey was set up or seasons, and yet even as it was set up, the writers never truly closed the door on Dawsey definitively.
