Saturday in Boone began with the ESPN College Gameday crew in town prior to Appalachian State hosting Troy University.

But on this day, with College Gameday in town, it seemed like magic was in the air for the Mountaineers. Appalachian State drove nearly the length of the field on their ensuing possession, but faced a 4th and goal at the Troy 2-yard line. That led ESPN to send their pregame show to Boone, North Carolina, home of the Mountaineers.

Appalachian State Mountaineers beat Troy with 53-yard Hail Mary ... (ESPN)

Chase Brice fired a 53-yard touchdown pass to Christan Horn on the final play of the game as Appalachian State pulled out a 32-28 victory over Troy.

Troy rushed for only 57 yards on 28 carries. [Dashaun Davis](http://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/4427037/dashaun-davis) staked the Mountaineers to a 7-0 lead with a 17-yard scoring strike to [Christian Wells](http://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/4428815/christian-wells). Brice's game-winning throw came on fourth-and-10.

Quarterback Chase Brice fired a 53-yard pass that was tipped into wideout Christan Horn's hands.

The flagship college football show came to Boone in the wake of the Mountaineers' shocking road upset over then No. 6 Texas A&M last weekend.

With the win, App State improves to 2-1 on the season and inches closer to achieving a top 25 ranking in the AP Poll as they currently sit in the other receiving votes category on unranked teams. 5 Michigan on the road. Down 28-26 with 2 seconds remaining on the clock on 4th&10, Brice uncorked a Hail Mary pass that was deflected by a Troy defender into the hands of Harris who took it in for the score with no time remaining on the clock.

A few Appalachian State Mountaineers football fans were handsomely rewarded on Saturday.
