Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker will miss the game and guard Trey Smith is questionable. Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs host Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chiefs also utilized Edwards-Helaire’s versatility as a receiver in short-yardage plays, which he turned into two touchdowns from superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes. We have the 1-0 teams with stars on their bellies and the 0-1 teams with stars on their helmets, then next week things really get into a horrible mess. Then along came the Colts and Texans to create a new, unexpected kind of symmetry. Week 1 is a beautiful time. They are preparing for the division-rival Chiefs on a short week for the second straight season. Tonight's game between the Chargers and Chiefs kicks off at 8:15 p.m. The Chargers lost to Kansas City on Thursday night in Week 15 last season. GO FURTHER Allen injured his hamstring in the second quarter of Los Angeles’ 24-19 win against the Raiders on Sunday. on Amazon Prime Video and NFL+.

Everett is a big target who is always a threat in the redzone. Ekeler is one of the best receiving backs around and is a PPR machine. Ekeler had a quiet Week 1, but is still one of the most talented running backs in the league and gets plenty of volume. The Chargers have been looking for another receiver to step up behind Allen and Williams. He scored a touchdown in each of his games against the Chiefs last season and racked up a total of 189 yards. Despite Keenan Allen missing this game, Herbert still has plenty of weapons to work with and is facing a Chiefs defense that is still gelling. While the Chiefs’ defense sacked quarterback Kyler Murray three times and forced two turnovers, it was able to play with a lead the entire game and was facing a decimated Cardinals offense. Sunday was a tough day for the “Kelce is going to regress in 2022” crowd. The Chiefs ability to rotate running backs and keep them fresh throughout the game is a big benefit for them, but not for fantasy players. He averaged a team-high six yards per carry and both of his scores came as a receiver, showing that he should play a big part in the passing game this season. McKinnon had four carries and three receptions for a total of 49 yards and no touchdowns. There were plenty of touches to go around, which can be a good and a bad thing.
The Chargers will play their second straight AFC West game in Week 2. The Bolts and Chiefs will meet in Kansas City on Thursday night, with kickoff at 5:15 ...
The AFC is as competitive as ever, and while it's a long season, every one of these games – especially divisional matchups – counts. In fact, Karlaftis was one of three Chiefs to tally at least six pressures against the Cardinals, joining Chris Jones and Mike Danna. MM: I don't want to put too much stock into a Week 2 game, but this will certainly set the tone for the early portion of the season. He and Mahomes have had some great battles over the last few years, and there's no reason to suspect Thursday will be any different. He recorded six pressures in the game and seemed to be around Kyler Murray all day long. The Chiefs haven't had depth like this at pass-catcher in a long time, and with so many weapons now available at Mahomes' disposal, it's much more difficult to identify where the ball is headed.
Our betting experts answer some of the most pressing questions surrounding Thursday night's AFC West matchup between the Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas ...
I'd take Smith-Schuster over 56.5 receiving yards (-131) against a Chargers defense that [Davante Adams](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/16800/davante-adams) torched in Week 1. [JuJu Smith-Schuster](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/3120348/juju-smith-schuster) had the second-most targets in his Chiefs debut against the Cardinals last week, and his 79 receiving yards were his fifth-highest total over the last 28 games. [Joshua Palmer](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/4242433/joshua-palmer) over 46.5 receiving yards (-131). Brown](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/4047646/aj-brown). Palmer now becomes the second option behind [Mike Williams](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/3045138/mike-williams) without Allen on the field. [Austin Ekeler](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/3068267/austin-ekeler) over 37.5 receiving yards (-125). [Josh Allen](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/3918298/josh-allen) as the NFL MVP favorite at +500. [Zion Johnson](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/4247347/zion-johnson), and they added [Khalil Mack](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/16710/khalil-mack) and [J.C. [Travis Kelce](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/15847/travis-kelce) in the Chiefs' opening week win over Arizona ... [Keenan Allen](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/15818/keenan-allen) on Thursday night, but they still have [Justin Herbert](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/4038941/justin-herbert) and a plethora of playmakers to work with. [Jalen Hurts](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/4040715/jalen-hurts) at +1400. Then, of the teams behind the Chargers in the standings, I have at least the Ravens (+900) and the Bengals (+1400) at a similar or higher level than the Chargers, and I'd be more likely to bet either of them than the Chargers at this time.

Local Chiefs telecasts will always be carried on free local TV, but streaming them online is a different matter. Here's a guide to where — and why — you can ...
So even if Prime Video has the "exclusive" rights to "Thursday Night Football," the game is still carried on local TV stations in the markets where the teams are based. With it, you can listen to the live audio feeds of any NFL game, from either the home broadcast team or the away. If you use other sports streaming apps, you may have noticed the NFL is doing the exact opposite of the NBA or MLB. But if the NFL tried that, it would undermine its lucrative regional deals with CBS ($2.1 billion per year) and Fox ($2.2 billion). Under the new deal, regional broadcast rights will remain in place through 2033: NFC games on Fox, AFC games on CBS. This strategy proved so effective — it was one of the most popular shows on TV and gave the NFL a huge regular-season stage it never had before — that ESPN paid billions to the NFL to carve out another prime-time game, "Sunday Night Football." Was that a dude watching NFL+ on his big screen TV in an official NFL+ TV commercial? As of this season, Amazon Prime Video is the exclusive home for "Thursday Night Football." When the Chiefs are playing on Sunday afternoon, the game is usually on CBS unless they are hosting an NFC team, in which case it's carried by Fox. And it's getting more complicated by the year, thanks to streaming rights and the NFL's desire to get into the mobile app space. Hunt's insight was so visionary that after the AFL-NFL merger in 1970 (which Hunt negotiated), the NFL signed onto revenue sharing too. But what if you're part of the growing Chiefs Kingdom living outside the range of Kansas City TV signals?
Tico Sports continues to grow it Spanish-speaking audience for not only its Chiefs games, but for other NFL and college sports teams too.
And even the voice of the Chiefs himself, Mitch Holthus, has proudly welcomed Tico sports to the booth at Arrowhead Stadium on game day. But their fanhood is a unifying element, and he feels that as he works the game. They like the energy that we provide," Monterroso said. So much so that this season, Tico Sports teams will do Spanish broadcasts for multiple NFL teams in other cities, with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Philadelphia Eagles being some of the teams the company broadcast games in Spanish on the radio. And soon it will begin to do Kansas State Football games in the future. That bad and ugly describes some of the Chiefs games in the early days of Tico Sports.

Jeff Miller’s prediction: The Chargers have won the last two games in Kansas City and three of four against the Chiefs on the road. The game will be shown on Amazon Prime and Fox locally. Kansas City will be without Harrison Butker, who suffered an ankle injury on his first kickoff of the season.
The Chiefs Wire staff shares their predictions for the upcoming Kansas City Chiefs game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
I expect the Chargers to emphasize covering tight end Travis Kelce and WR JuJu Smith-Schuster, which means this could be a big game for Chiefs running backs or possibly WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling. This should be a close game that comes down to the wire. If the game comes down to special teams and the kicking game, this won’t be the week for the Chiefs with Harrison Butker out. On the offensive side of the ball, the Chiefs’ offensive line is going to have to keep Patrick Mahomes clean. On offense, I think the Chiefs are going to have to get creative in the passing game to limit Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa. They’re also celebrating the 50th anniversary of Arrowhead Stadium, so I expect the crowd to be extra energetic and noisy.
In their four meetings against Herbert, Chiefs have only won when Kelce scores.
Either way, the Chiefs will likely look to avoid running all that often against a stout Chargers defensive line, so Mack’s value will have to come as a pass rusher, and that could be a problem depending on who he’s lined up against most of the night. This game should be a shootout, and while there is a blueprint for how the Chargers could hold the Chiefs’ offense to a very low score, there is too much for L.A. The game is in Kansas City, and the absence of Keenan Allen could hurt the Chargers drastically considering how poorly the Cardinals’ offense performed against what is considered a weak Chiefs’ secondary without DeAndre Hopkins. Assuming that last week was a fluke and that we won’t see another three-sack performance from Mack all season, the former Defensive Player of the Year will likely be limited in his effect in this game against KC. Despite all the improvements the Chargers made this offseason, the Chiefs still hold the advantage in my opinion. Andy Reid is obviously a phenomenal coach and shouldn’t have a problem drawing up protection plans to mitigate any effort the Chargers might make to force Wylie into a one-on-one situation with either of their All-Pro edge rushers. He plays bigger than his size (he’s already a big guy) and would probably be the best chance for the Chargers to limit Kelce’s impact. While the Chargers upgraded at edge rusher with the addition of Khalil Mack as well as at cornerback with the addition of J.C. Jackson will likely shut down JuJu Smith-Schuster most of the night, Patrick Mahomes did say prior to the season that the This game will obviously be a measuring stick for both franchises, one that improved drastically over the offseason and one that many believed had regressed in that same span. [Keenan Allen was ruled out](https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/34592435/kansas-city-chiefs-kicker-harrison-butker-los-angeles-chargers-wr-keenan-allen-ruled-out), and this will be the first time in the Justin Herbert era that the Chiefs will be without Tyreek Hill. The optimistic part of me hoping for a high-scoring affair wants to say yes.

The Chiefs also chose to bring up CB Dicaprio Bootle from the practice squad.

See how the guys feel about week two's most-exciting matchup as the Chargers visit Kansas City.
I initially didn’t want to predict a Chargers win, but I’ve let hope (and hype) creep in and I think I see the Chargers winning this game. I don’t see the Chargers getting as many turnovers as they did last week which means I think it comes down to the final possession again. I say Chiefs win on the final possession. The Chargers defense looked fantastic in week 1. The Chiefs also have their own injury concerns. Michael Peterson: I was this close to picking the Chiefs in this one. C) The Chargers are without their WR1 Keenan Allen and possibly still CB1 J.C. B) The Chiefs showed in week 1 that they are still a very efficient and highly powerful offense. [Chargers](https://www.boltsfromtheblue.com/) will surprise the masses by allowing one touchdown in the first half before weathering the storm in the second half as Mahomes attempts to pass his team to victory. In their own stadium and in primetime just screams like a perfect storm for Patrick Mahomes to have the game of his life, but forget that noise. Orlando Brown is a good left tackle, but Mack is out for blood this week after feeling no satisfaction from his three-sack performance against the Raiders. The over/under is currently set at 54 points.

It was the longest punt by any player this season and the third-longest punt since the beginning of 2021. The Chiefs are fortunate to have a strong one in Tommy Townsend, who was at his best on Thursday. In fact, since 2018, the Chiefs are now 28-15 in games in which they trailed at some point. It was the longest rush of his career. One of those punts traveled a ridiculous 74 yards, marking a career-best for the Chiefs' young punter. That total was the fourth-highest of Edwards-Helaire's career and represented his best tally since 2020. Prior to the grab, the Chiefs were trailing by 10 points and facing a long third down at midfield. The Chiefs' pass-rush, in general, was relentless on Thursday, as Chargers' quarterback Justin Hebert was pressured on 18 of his dropbacks. Kelce is just 26 catches shy of passing Greg Olsen and moving into the top-five. Mahomes completed 24-of-35 passes for 235 yards and two scores in the game, moving past former quarterback Alex Smith for the third-most passing completions (1,604) in franchise history. The Chargers took the judicious route in defending Mahomes (unlike the Cardinals in Week 1), rushing four most often, playing coverage and making the Chiefs beat them with a thousand paper cuts. The Chargers had managed their OL situation enough at one point in the fourth quarter and were in a position to go up a touchdown with about 10 minutes to go. Watson worked well with [Patrick Mahomes](https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/3139477/patrick-mahomes) during training camp, so his play isn't a surprise. Horvath becomes the first seventh-round pick to catch a touchdown pass in each of his first two career games since Chansi Stuckey for the Jets in 2008. Out of halftime, Williams made a circus-like play for a touchdown, as he dove and reeled in a one-handed grab for a 15-yard score to put the Chargers up 17-7. The Chiefs went on to beat their AFC West rivals [27-24](/nfl/boxscore/_/gameId/401434030). In the first half, Williams caught a 39-yard pass to set up a touchdown that gave the Chargers a 10-0 lead. The Chiefs eliminated a 10-point deficit to come from behind and defeat the Chargers 27-24 on Thursday night. These struggles led coach Andy Reid to call for a field goal on fourth-and-goal from the 1 in the fourth quarter with the Chiefs trailing 17-14. Already Watson has become a crucial player for the Chiefs.

"I woke up knowing I was going to get a pick, honestly," he said. "I was surprised. Still, it was a moment Watson said he predicted. "The ball just ended up in my chest and I took it home," Watson said after the game, in which he also had four tackles and a pass breakup. It is currently etched in the record books as the longest go-ahead fourth-quarter TD by a rookie in history, per NFL Research. "It was an important, big play," Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said.
The Kansas City Chiefs completed a thrilling comeback on Thursday night to defeat the Los Angeles Chargers, 27-24, behind a relentless defensive effort that ...
The Chiefs will now have an opportunity to enjoy a bit of an extended break before traveling to Indianapolis to take on the Colts on Sept. [You] never want to see one of our receivers go down, but I just want to give them the confidence that if they do have to take a play off the field, I'm going to come in and do my job," Watson said. In terms of injuries, defensive end Mike Danna exited the game late in the fourth quarter due to a calf injury. It was one of two sacks for Jones in the game. Los Angeles then seemed primed to answer on its next drive, but Watson picked off Herbert at the goal line and the rest was history. "The defense kept us in the game," Mahomes said. The play – which involved Mahomes scrambling to his right and evading multiple defenders before zipping a sidearm throw across his body – was exceptional, but it accounted for the Chiefs' only points of the first half. The play was especially significant considering that Watson had only recently rotated in for wide receiver Mecole Hardman, who was injured a few snaps prior. Kansas City added a field goal two possessions later, and despite a Chargers' touchdown in the final minutes, the Chiefs' late advantage was too much for Los Angeles to overcome. For the defense to keep us around, it's a big, big step I think in the right direction." Fortunately, the Chiefs' defense held Los Angeles to only 10 first-half points and prevented the Chargers from pulling away on the scoreboard. The score was tied at 17 points apiece early in the fourth quarter, but the Chargers were poised to re-claim the lead with a first down at Kansas City's 3-yard line.
“I think it was something where we've had guys that have been in big games, so we know how to not let it overwhelm you,” Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes said ...
These are going to be some heavyweight fights every time the two get on the field together in the future. He only graded the defensive effort on Thursday as a B- and that’s probably a fair assessment, but he certainly deserves some credit in this victory. The back-and-forth between Herbert and Mahomes in this game was really quite entertaining. He was commanding a lot of attention from the offensive line, which helped free up others to make some plays on Herbert. This step in the right direction came against a Chargers team that was tailor-made to defeat the Chiefs. Skyy Moore wasn’t even targeted during the course of the game. He had three tackles, two sacks and a pass batted at the line of scrimmage. Not a lot was going right for this team early on and by the middle of the third quarter, they found themselves in a 10-point hole. He had four receptions on four targets for 44 yards in Week 2, including a long reception of 21 yards. He almost singlehandedly wrapped this game up in a box for Kansas City with one play. “I think it was something where we’ve had guys that have been in big games, so we know how to not let it overwhelm you,” Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes said following the game. This is the type of performance that the Chiefs can build on and ride throughout the course of the 2022 NFL season.
Fitness seems to have played a part in the Kansas City Chiefs' win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 2.
We work hard each, and every day and we push ourselves hard every day and I don’t think anybody can really outplay us whenever we get to the fourth quarter. It ended up being a massive mistake for Los Angeles as Watson capitalized on the interception. He was clearly gassed after the play and even motioned to the sideline to take him out.
Patrick Mahomes threw two touchdown passes and rookie Jaylen Watson returned an interception 99 yards for the go-ahead fourth-quarter score.
The game appeared to be getting away from the Chiefs when Mahomes was intercepted by Asante Samuel Jr on their next possession. And one play after Austin Ekeler picked it up, Williams made a one-handed grab around Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed to give the Chargers a 17-7 lead. Herbert, who finished with 334 yards and three touchdown passes, gamely tried to keep the Chargers alive. He left the field clutching his side, returned one play later, then threw an incompletion that forced the Chargers to punt. Justin Herbert was eyeing tight end Gerald Everett when Watson, a seventh-round pick making his first start, stepped in front of the pass with 10:29 to go and ran nearly untouched the other way to the end zone. Things became worse for the Chargers two series after the pick-six when Herbert was drilled by Mike Danna delivering a throw.
Kansas City Chiefs WR Justin Watson used his experience playing the #Chargers two years ago with the #Bucs to set up his 41-yard touchdown.
“I just knew how to run it to win and Pat (Mahomes) threw a great ball obviously a great result.” “Two years ago, I played the Chargers, and they were sitting on my out routes – sitting on my out routes,” Watson said. “I’m just glad to see the work show.” “We talked about that route in the receiver room – I wanted that route,” Watson said. Even with a different coaching staff in Los Angeles, he saw the same look and knew that the corners would be biting on those out routes. [He was listed on the injury report](https://chiefswire.usatoday.com/lists/kansas-city-chiefs-los-angeles-chargers-week-2-wednesday-injury-report-2022/) this week with a chest injury and praised Chiefs athletic trainer Tiffany Morton for getting him right to play.

Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire helped salt the game away with a 52-yard run — the longest of his career by far — in the fourth quarter. The Chargers, who went into the halftime break with a three-point lead, were up by 10 at two different points in the game (10-0 and 17-7). Usual suspects and unexpected saviors alike led to the Chiefs' comeback. From the very onset of the game, it was a struggle for the Chiefs. The ability to recover and respond in-game wasn't, either. In losses to the Los Angeles Chargers (Week 3), Buffalo Bills (Week 5) and Tennessee Titans (Week 7), the Chiefs were unable to respond in time to complete comebacks.
