'Ahsoka': Eman Esfandi To Play Live-Action Ezra Bridger In Disney+ ... (Deadline)

Disney+ has found its Ezra Bridger. Eman Esfandi has been tapped to play the live-action role in Ahsoka, sources have confirmed to Deadline.

The character of Ahsoka was co-created by George Lucas and Filoni. Written by Star Wars Rebels co-creator Dave Filoni and executive produced by Filoni and Jon Favreau, the series will continue Ahsoka’s story. The character returned in Lucasfilm’s 2018 Star Wars: Forces of Destiny animated series with Gray reprising his role.

'Ahsoka': Eman Esfandi Cast as Ezra Bridger (Collider.com)

The cast of Ahsoka continues to grow as actor Eman Esfandi has been cast as the long-missing Ezra Bridger.

He joins series star Rosario Dawson in continuing the adventures of Ahsoka Tano, the onetime apprentice to Anakin Skywalker, who was last seen in an episode of The Book of Boba Fett. They previously appeared together (played by Ashley Eckstein and Matt Lanter respectively) in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. When audiences first saw live-action Ahsoka Tano, it was in an episode of The Mandalorian Season 2 where she aided Din Djarin (Pedro Pacal/Brendan Wayne) in his efforts to find a Jedi to train Grogu.

Eman Esfandi has joined 'Ahsoka' as fan favorite Ezra Bridger, marking the 'Star Wars: Rebels' character's first appearance in a live-action project.

[Hayden Christensen](https://ew.com/person/hayden-christensen) is also rumored to [reprise his role as Ahsoka's Jedi master, Anakin Skywalker](https://ew.com/tv/hayden-christensen-to-return-to-star-wars-as-anakin-skywalker-in-ahsoka-tano-series/), but since the Skywalker paterfamilias is dead at this point in the story, it isn't clear whether he will appear in a flashback or Force ghost capacity. Star Wars: Rebels was produced by Ahsoka executive producer Dave Filoni, so Bridger's addition to the show seems like a natural fit. Along with Wren's character and the rumored addition of Twi-lek pilot Hera Syndulla, this will mark the first time the Star Wars: Rebel fan favorites will be seen in a live-action project, per [ The Hollywood Reporter](https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/star-wars-ahsoka-casts-ezra-bridger-eman-esfandi-1235129369/). Since The Mandalorian season 2 revealed Ahsoka had been on the hunt for Thrawn, many fans assumed Bridger would eventually pop up in her search as well. Voiced by Taylor Gray, Ezra Bridger was a central character in Star Wars: Rebels when it debuted in 2014 on Disney XD. He has previously had roles in King Richard with Will Smith and Hostage 911.

Essentially, Ezra sat out the events of the original [Star Wars](https://superherohype.com/tag/star-wars) trilogy because he was stuck in parts unknown. In the early days of the Rebellion, Ezra and his friends played a key role in the struggle against the Empire. [Star Wars Rebels](https://superherohype.com/tag/star-wars-rebels) was the fate of fan-favorite Jedi-in-training, Ezra Bridger, who disappeared in the series finale. However, Ezra’s whereabouts will finally be revealed in the upcoming [Star Wars: Ahsoka](https://superherohype.com/tag/star-wars-ahsoka) series. Esfandi doesn’t have an extensive list of credits to his name. He and Grand Admiral Thrawn were trapped on an Imperial ship that was whisked away into hyperspace. Regardless, Ezra never officially received the title of Jedi.

We don’t know when Ahsoka will come out, but clearly the show is coming together. And indeed, Star Wars: Ahsoka is coming down the pike. In The Mandalorian season 2, Ahsoka was looking for Grand Admiral Thrawn, a popular villain who played a big role in the animated Star Wars Rebels series. We can assume that’s where the new live-action Ahsoka show will pick up. At the end of that show, orphan-turned-Jedi Ezra Bridger sacrificed himself and ended up blasting off to parts unknown alongside Thrawn. The second season of The Mandalorian gave us a live-action version of Ahsoka Tano, the Jedi master who became a fan favorite throughout her run on the animated show Star Wars: Rebels.
