The iPhone 14 doesn't seem like a meaningful upgrade at all, and even Steve Jobs' daughter seems to agree with this.

[iPhone 13](https://www.androidauthority.com/apple-iphone-13-1226617/) now that it starts at $699, as opposed to the iPhone 14 line’s $799 starting price. “Me upgrading from iPhone 13 to iPhone 14 after Apple’s announcement today,” read the caption of an image. The phones are still stuck with last year’s processor, that wide notch, and a 12MP main camera.

If you held a gun to my head, I couldn't tell you the difference between any of the iPhones that have been released these past few years.

So new iPhones that are basically the same as the old iPhone but pitched as something completely new and exciting are a symbol of planned obsolescence and consumerism. This is a big deal, because, despite some recent changes to its policies by Apple, the company has largely tried to make sure that people use their iPhones for as short a time as possible. Every year, Apple cultists scream at me for saying this, and every year Apple says—correctly but annoyingly—that this is the "most powerful / best/ fastest iPhone ever."

I’ll be interested to see what else emerges at the Steve Jobs Archives. Because here’s to the crazy ones, the ones who move things forward. In 1994, Steve Jobs explained this point of view when speaking to the Santa Clara Valley Historical Association. I think their understanding is shallow, one-dimensional, and nothing more than an excuse to justify their own desire for tyranny. The Archive certainly seems to have bigger plans. It remains one of my favorite clips featuring the man. In many cases, the inspiration they seek is only to be dominant or indeed to bully staff, arguing that this is what Steve did. You’ll find rare images of Jobs along with selected quotes, videos and audio snippets capturing some of the memorable things he said. It also aims to further what he did. I imagine this collection is intended to expand over time.
