Aaron Judge has chance to make MLB history (Chargerbulletin)

New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge has just hit his 55th home run of the season, inching closer to topping Roger Maris' record of 61.

This is the second time in his career where he has hit over 50 home runs in a season, joining his rookie season in 2017 when he set the then-rookie record of 52 home runs. In what has been a very inconsistent year for New York, Judge has been the one constant all season. As the final stretch of the regular season approaches, Judge would need to hit 11 more home runs in the team’s final 32 games to overtake Maris for the American League record. Judge has been on a historic pace all season in the final year of his rookie contract, which will allow him to become a free agent after this season.. As of now, Aaron Judge could become the third Yankee and American League player to ever reach 60 home runs in one season. Bonds, who allegedly did use PEDs, currently maintains the record with his 73 home runs in 2001, despite being seen as a tarnished record due to his use of PEDs.

Why would Yankees' Brian Cashman let Aaron Judge leave? first appeared on Elite Sports NY, the Voice, the Pulse of New York City sports.

The baseball season is still in full swing, but Judge and his impending free agency will sneak up on everyone before long. Perhaps his lifelong dream has been to play for the Giants and he kept that to himself all these years. Maybe he signs with the Giants and The Athletic uncovers he knowingly overachieved in 2022 so he could command a contract the Yankees wouldn’t give him. It’s not a matter of if he re-signs in New York, but when. In the public eye, Judge is the unquestioned star of the New York Yankees. The Yankees love their analytics to an absolute fault. What’s notable is that Soto still hasn’t signed an extension with his new team. 25t overall in June and seems he could quickly rise through the minor league ranks once he learns how to hit breaking pitches. He’s already batting .341 with four home runs and 11 RBI in 23 minor league games, and is already He’s still a couple of years away but if the talent is real, perhaps Cashman thinks losing Judge and waiting things out on Dominguez is worth it. Cut to the biggest “decision” New Yorkers have cared about since LeBron James’ free agency in 2010. It all started when Judge bet on himself, turned down an extension on Opening Day and launched an MVP season.

The blast came before the Twins walked Judge a total of five times between the two games. If I’m getting intentionally walked, it usually means there’s guys on-base in a big situation, so I gotta stay locked in and really try not to think about it and do my job. Judge has been intentionally walked 14 times this season; he’s tied for the major league lead with Mets first baseman Pete Alonso.

In reality, there is no wrong spot to have Judge hit as long as it is one of the first four, but having him hit first or second guarantees more at-bats for him. The Yankees get more than a few extra at-bats in the year from Judge by having him hit second rather than, say, cleanup. Judge may strike out a lot, but his excellent on-base skills and power fit in nicely in the second hole.
