But on the second serve of the first deuce point, Kontaveit hits her return out to give Williams the advantage. 8:17 p.m.: Williams wins the third point on a hard forehand to Kontaveit's right that she can't reach. 9:08 p.m.: Williams takes the first point of deuce, but Kontaveit evens it up on a shot that just clips the line to stay in. Kontaveit then hits a volley past the back line as Williams takes the break and moves to 2-0 in the final set. On the second point, Kontaveit can barely return it, but it is out to the left. 9:24 p.m.: On her second serve of 15 all, Kontaveit can't return a powerful forehand from Williams, as Williams takes the 15-30 lead. Williams then wins the next point to move to 40 love. But Williams brings it to deuce with a strong forehand shot to the corner. While Williams later added a win on one of her service games, Kontaveit easily finished the set to even the match.
