He went on to sign with the Eagles, however, and played seven games en route to receiving the Ed Block Courage Award. He suffered a broken orbital bone and received 35 stitches in the back of his head. The former Texas Christian standout was tabbed by Philadelphia just one spot before the Vikings drafted Justin Jefferson 22nd overall. TCU had three players drafted in the top 40 selections in 2020, and all have been on the Vikings roster: Blacklock, Reagor and cornerback Jeff Gladney, who tragically Minnesota kept six receivers on its roster in 2021; in 2020, the Vikings kept seven, and the season prior they kept four. The Vikings have added a wide receiver and return specialist to their roster in Jalen Reagor.
Nobody is slicker and more creative in engineering trades than Roseman, who has made 106 trades since he became Eagles GM in 2010. He would have loved No.

He had a great attitude, great energy. Brown, Quez Watkins and Zach Pascal ahead of him, it’s hard to imagine Reagor getting on the field very much. But after playing 511 offensive snaps as a rookie and 750 last year, Reagor doesn’t seem to have a clear role on offense these days. He did have a 73-yard TD against the Packers as a rookie. He would have loved No.
Reagor gets a fresh start in Minnesota and could end up as the Vikings' new punt returner.
The Vikings aren't expecting Reagor to live up to his draft pedigree. Make sure to bookmark this site and check back daily for the latest Vikings news and analysis all offseason long. The Vikings have traded a 2023 seventh-round pick and a conditional 2024 fourth-round pick to the Eagles for wide receiver Jalen Reagor, according to multiple reports. Reagor was a first-round pick because of his production — he had over 1,200 yards from scrimmage and 11 touchdowns as a junior — and his athleticism. Famously, the Vikings' old regime of Rick Spielman and Mike Zimmer laughed at the Eagles after they selected Reagor, allowing Jefferson to fall to them. Reagor was selected 21st overall in the 2020 NFL Draft, one spot before the Vikings landed superstar receiver Justin Jefferson.
Andrew Berry has been a great general manager for the Cleveland Browns and that became more apparent when we saw what Minnesota gave up for Jalen Reagor.
He does have the ability to return kicks — which they need — and has done more as a wideout than anyone on their roster outside of [Cooper and Donovan Peoples-Jones](https://dawgpounddaily.com/2022/07/29/browns-donovan-people-jones-amari-cooper/). Last season alone, Cooper topped all of Reagor’s career stats with 865 yards and eight touchdowns on 68 receptions, and it was his worst statistical season as a Cowboy. Compare that to Cooper, who has 517 receptions for 7,076 yards, and 46 touchdowns.
On Wednesday the Minnesota Vikings traded a 2023 seventh-round selection and 2024 conditional fourth-round draft pick for Philadelphia Eagles receiver Jalen ...
Of course, that’s slicing the data up pretty good to find a ray of sunshine in an otherwise underwhelming stat sheet. If there is a flicker in Reagor’s stat sheet, it’s in the intermediate passing game. He can definitely contribute as a punt returner and the rest will work itself out. They tried him on quick passes, which was only mildly effective (6.4 yards per catch on throws behind the line of scrimmage) and gave him 14 carries that resulted in only 58 yards. During training camp and the preseason the Vikings struggled to find a punt returner. Should there be a similar injury this year, Reagor has played both inside and outside, with 20% of his snaps coming from the slot, so he could ideally fill in wherever the team needed in an unfortunate scenario. The recent history of first-round receivers who did not take off in their first two years is not promising to the Vikings’ chances of discovering a gem. The Eagles tried using him as a deep threat and that didn’t stick as the former TCU standout caught only four of 25 passes beyond 20 yards in two years. Harry suffered a serious ankle injury in Bears camp. So expectations for Reagor in Minnesota should be tempered. Last year the Vikings’ passing game sputtered when Thielen was lost to an ankle injury, in part because they didn’t have anyone with experience coming off the bench and the Vikings were forced to move Osborn to outside receiver more often. Clearly they did not believe in second-year receiver Ihmir Smith-Marsette because he was released to make room for Reagor.
When the Eagles traded away Jalen Reagor, they moved on from their top returner from 2021. Who are their options now? By Dave Zangaro.
He did mix in as a kick returner this summer at times. In the preseason, he returned four punts (6.2) and four kickoffs (23.0). He ranked 17th in the NFL in punt return average (7.3) among qualified players and ranked 27th in the NFL in kick return average (21.3) among players with at least 10 attempts. Kenny Gainwell: I didn’t see the Eagles’ running back work with the kick returners in camp, but he did return punts. Devon Allen: You’d think that the Olympian would be a threat in the return game, but he made his mark on special teams as a gunner in the preseason. Quez Watkins: The Eagles’ slot receiver got reps as a punt and a kick returner during training camp and with 4.35 speed, it’s easy to understand why. He’s also returned 43 kickoffs for 928 yards (21.6). Watkins was tied for second on the team with eight kick returns last season but averaged just 17.3 yards per return, which was even worse than Reagor. But even after the addition of A.J. But Covey did both in training camp and was clearly the smoothest punt returner they had in camp. Sure, his experience is at the college level but Covey was an electric return man at Utah. Britain Covey: While Covey is on the practice squad, it would be pretty easy to bring him up to the active roster and he’s the most experienced return man of the bunch.

Reagor has a cap number of $3,619,276 for this season, and the Eagles would have had to pay $4,222,489 if they released him, as he carried $7,841,765 in dead cap money. Reagor is still with the Eagles, albeit in a much different role than in his previous two years. The Eagles tried their darndest to trade Reagor in the days leading up to the 53-man roster cutdown, but not even trade master Howie Roseman could find a partner for the 2020 first-round pick.
