It comes in and Mee's header crashes against the corner of post and bar! Instead, they hook the ball away and breathe a huge sigh of relief. Brentford will of course be pleased with the result, but Palace will be gutted not to have won this. The draw means both teams rise in the Premier League table for now, Brentford to ninth and Palace to 13th. After a slow start, it looked like the match would be decided by Zaha's moment of brilliance around the hour mark. Brentford nearly steal the win at the death! The Bees could even have grabbed all three points had Mee's injury-time header not hit the woodwork. Crystal Palace vs Brentford: Bees buzz back for point (NBC Sports)

Wilfried Zaha's sensational goal wasn't enough as "Yoane Wissa: Super Sub" returned for a London derby performance in Palace vs Brentford draw.

From Joachim Andersen at the back to Cheick Doucoure holding down the midfield to a variety of attacking options — Zaha might’ve been the least-effective attacker apart from his moment of wonder — Palace looked capable of flying quite high… Changes kept coming but never unsettled the Eagles’ DCM, whose presence allowed Palace’s five attack-minded players to surge toward a Kristoffer Ajer-missing Brentford back line. Bees boss (Beekeeper?) Thomas Frank tried to help Toney by removing Lewis-Potter and a lively Bryan Mbeumo, but Frank Onywka and Joshua Dasilva didn’t add much to the striker’s day. Quiet Toney is tough for Brentford: It was not a good day for the big star forward wearing the captain’s armband for Brentford. Crystal Palace has come together, but single moment has big cost: Rumors of Wilfried Zaha’s departure have been rampant as the Ivorian only has one year left on his deal, but what a shame it would be for him to leave for European football when Patrick Vieira’s men very much look capable of contending for a top-seven place. Ivan Toney is a complete center forward but he was poor in almost every facet of the game and wasn’t aided by new signing Keane Lewis-Potter on his right.

Summary and highlights of Crystal Palace 1-1 Brentford in the ... (VAVEL.com)

A share of the points where Brentford managed to equalize the match after Zaha's great goal.

The only two times they have met in the Premier League, which was last season, the match ended in a goalless draw. His mission now is to add his skills and help Crystal Palace to be among the great English powers and to take the team to the finals of the biggest tournaments possible. So far they have only one win at home against Aston Villa in the Premier League and right now with four points in their locker they are 12th. The Eagles have kicked off the 2022-2023 Premier League season with the best intentions of fighting for international tournament berths. It is worth mentioning the 4-0 defeat of Manchester United. Zaha is going through a great moment with his national team as he is one of the most promising players in the Ivorian national team and his team.

Crystal Palace Player Ratings vs Brentford: 8/10 for imperious... (The Hard Tackle)

Crystal Palace dropped more points in a game where they could have won, with Wilfried Zaha starring on his return.

The left-back was not fit enough to start but got the last ten minutes. However, his introduction did allow Zaha to move more centrally, as he took up a position on the left-hand side. As transfer speculation remains rife about Zaha, the Ivory Coast international made everyone forget about it as he produced a superb goal to put Crystal Palace ahead. Olise looked lively in his role on the right wing, as Vieira decided to include him in place of the otherwise effective Jordan Ayew. Schlupp was not at his influential best, as he was caught out a few times with the ball. He was also targeted repeatedly with long balls, but he dealt with the danger quite well. Otherwise, he lacked his usual aura at the back and was equally culpable for the lapse in concentration in letting in the equaliser. The Crystal Palace skipper had a composed game for most parts, thwarting the threat posed by Bryan Mbeumo and Ivan Toney up front. Clyne struggled to deal with Henry’s pace on the flanks but managed to keep the threat posed by Keane Lewis-Potter under control. Guaita did not have much to do in the first period despite Brentford enjoying possession. Vieira’s men were reduced to taking their chance through counter-attacking opportunities but did not make the best due to some sloppy play in the build-up. After taking a second-half lead against the Bees through a Wilfried Zaha strike, Patrick Vieira’s side could not hold on to secure three points against Thomas Frank’s men.

Crystal Palace 1-1 Brentford: Yoane Wissa's late header cancels out ... (Sky Sports)

Free highlights and match report as Brentford nick a point at Crystal Palace thanks to Yoane Wissas late header; Wilfried Zahas stunnner broke the deadlock ...

"But it is very difficult in the Premier League. They were unfortunate not to leave with three points, even if they were second best for most of the game. It's no wonder Chelsea and Arsenal have been linked with a late move for him, especially as his Palace contract expires at the end of the season. As soon as we went in the lead we just failed to defend. Aaron Hickey had been excellent in the first half, restricting Palace's fit-again talisman and twice blocking his shots at goal. I don't think we played well enough to create chances but we managed to score that goal and we needed to defend after that and we didn't do it well enough. Palace sat back to defend the three points, inviting pressure from the visitors - a tactical tweak which almost saw them lose the game in stoppage-time as Vicente Guaita denied Rico Henry and Ben Mee hit the bar. We're not City or Liverpool or Chelsea, we are Brentford and that mentality deep, deep within the players is really good. "But after that, we proper went for it. Today is not - by far - our best performance but a game where I feel like we should leave with all three points." It just throws away the whole performance. Palace, meanwhile, are up to 13th but will feel like this was an opportunity missed after looking more dangerous throughout the game.
