After an unlikely path to the Philadelphia Eagles' 53-man roster, change may again be on the horizon for quarterback-turned-wide receiver Greg Ward.
Still, sometimes things just stop working, and even the most sentimental fan would have to admit it’d be better to see Ward thrive elsewhere than sit on the bench for the Eagles with no real chance to make an impact. At best, Ward sticks around on either the practice squad or IR, and at worst, he’s catching passes from Dak Prescott and making the Eagles look foolish for allowing him to leave. His abbreviated tenure in the now-defunct league, though far from prolific, earned him another run with the Eagles, and spending a few months playing wide receiver full-time against actual opponents was apparently all it took for Ward to put it all together. Fortunately, that opportunity came where it all began in Texas, where Ward was afforded a chance to play wide receiver for the San Antonio Commanders of the AAF. Unfortunately, Ward’s efforts didn’t immediately prove to be fruitful, as he spent the 2017 season on the practice squad, but he did take home a Super Bowl ring for his efforts, so that’s one heck of a consolation prize. Unfortunately for Ward, there’s a very real chance that his final game in Midnight Green could officially be here, when the Eagles close out the preseason in Miami.
He went from the steal of the post-draft process, a QB once considered a legit Day 2 prospect who explicitly chose to sign in Philly over other options due to ...
Still, he signed with the Eagles for a reason, and to completely rob him of a chance to show off his game in the preseason just feels wrong. His lack of mobility is antithetical to the modern-day game, and his medical issues put an artificial ceiling on his product that he may never ultimately be able to overcome. If Strong had cleaner medical, he likely would have been the first quarterback off the board after Sam Howell, but alas, his injury history dashed any hopes of that happening.
After looking like a legit candidate to make the 53-man roster, Reid Sinnett looks practice squad bound for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Ultimately, keeping Sinnett on the practice squad in 2022 is far from the worst possible scenario for the Eagles. Well, they’ve tried to spend the summer finding the next Minshew, aka a reliable backup quarterback that they can develop longer-term, with Reid Sinnett earning the lion’s share of the snaps in that pursuit. For Minshew, this will undoubtedly be a win; he’s been sort of handed a raw deal in Philadelphia after a solid run in Jacksonville and could probably start for more than a few teams around the league right now like the Seattle Seahawks or the Cleveland Browns.
With the Eagles' blowout loss to the Dolphins in the books, it's time for one last preseason edition of stock up, stock down. By Dave Zangaro.
He got caught on that early deep ball and missed a couple tackles in this one. CB Mac McCain III: Tough duty to start this game for McCain, who lined up against Tyreek Hill on the first play of the game and was torched deep. But he did break a 67-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. LB JaCoby Stevens: The Eagles took Nakobe Dean out after a couple series and inserted Stevens. Sinnett threw an atrocious pick-6 in the first half. In a first half where the Eagles struggled to tackle, Blankenship’s big hit really stood out. And they had to deal with many of the Dolphins’ starters, who did play in this game. He was getting down the field quick. S Reed Blankenship: The UDFA from Middle Tennessee State had an impressive tackle in the first half on RB Salvon Ahmed. He’s had an impressive summer to put his name in the mix for a roster spot. He beat right tackle Austin Jackson and fought through some illegal contact to get the sack. on Tuesday to get down to their 53-man roster limit and the first regular season game of 2022 is looming.
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Eagles wrapped up the 2022 preseason with a 48-10 loss to Miami on Saturday night at Hard Rock Stadium and attention turned ...
This is the second time around for Hurts, who last season became the youngest quarterback in the history of the franchise to start a playoff game. They won big games at the end of the 2021 regular season to reach the playoffs and that helps pave the road for this season. Haason Reddick is a relentless, physical presence on the edge who is one of the most productive pass rushers in the league. The running game led the NFL a season ago and is primed for more in 2022. The team returned home to Philadelphia as healthy as a team can be at this point in the late summer. It's a nervous time for some of the players who returned to Philadelphia, and that's understandable.
The Eagles will have to make some tough decisions at linebacker and safety as they trim their roster down to 53 players.

After Saturday's 48-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins, Eagles quarterback Carson Strong talked about his performance in the game and in training camp.
Strong will probably be added to the practice squad, allowing him to fine-tune parts of his game, such as his throwing mechanics and footwork, while still getting him to learn the system and get caught up on the speed of the NFL. If that is the case, Strong said he could continue to learn from his three teammates. Strong even said that he still has a lot to work to do regarding his ability to play the position. [Reid Sinnett](https://www.nj.com/eagles/2022/08/how-have-the-eagles-qbs-behind-jalen-hurts-looked-in-training-camp-time-to-worry-about-one-backup.html) continued to lead the offense and play through the third quarter, mirroring how things have been during training camp practices, with Sinnett getting a lot more playing time than Strong. Strong will likely be one of the players cut as the Eagles trim their roster down to 53 players before Tuesday’s 4 p.m. Whatever they coach me up to do, I will keep doing it, and whenever they feel confident enough for me to play me, I will make sure that I’m ready.” We wanted to make sure that those two guys got the work and the reps that they needed.” I got one scoring drive which was fun to be a part of on that long run by Jason, and the offensive line did a good job there.” With the extended time on the field, Strong had a chance to showcase his arm and prove that he had made progress during training camp. Strong had nearly been invisible in terms of playing time, watching on the sideline and waiting for the call to run onto the field. Those struggles were just a microcosm of his training camp this year, which shows he has a long way to go before pushing for the backup spot behind starter “I went one for three out there and never really got into a rhythm.
