Finding out the FBI colluded with social media giants to bury an explosive story that may have changed the outcome of an election sounds bad, but context is everything! "This is big, but to be clear, he says the FBI made a general request, it wasn’t specifically about the Hunter Biden story. Byron York, Fox News contributor and chief political correspondent for the Washington Examiner, explained, "In the final weeks of the 2020 contest, the FBI was on the lookout for anything that might damage the Biden campaign. Zuck probably recognizes that this is a good political moment to throw the FBI under the bus. Facebook acted on warning and suppressed an accurate story about Hunter Biden." We thought that there was a lot of Russian propaganda in the 2016 election.

When pressed by Rogan about what it means for the distribution to be decreased, Zuckerberg added, "Basically, the ranking and Newsfeed was a little bit less, so fewer people saw it than would have otherwise." The reduction in the article's distribution was addressed publicly at the time of its publication. Zuckerberg said the article's distribution was reduced for several days while it was reviewed by the company's fact-checking partners. In addition to discussing VR, Zuckerberg was also pressed on some of the company's content moderation decisions. In the three-hour chat with "The Joe Rogan Experience" podcast, Zuckerberg detailed his company's plans to release a new virtual-reality headset in October. The release of the interview with Rogan comes a week after Zuckerberg was widely criticized online for the simplicity of his avatar in Horizon Worlds, which is Meta's flagship social VR app.

Mark Zuckerberg: normal people won't want Neuralink soon (Business Insider)

Mark Zuckerberg talked about Meta's research into neural interface technology on Joe Rogan's podcast, and compared it to Elon Musk's Neuralink.

"The path that we have, it's based on the fact that we have all these extra motor neurones in our body," Zuckerberg said. I mean maybe it'll be ready in a couple decades," Zuckerberg said. "You'll be able to have this experience in future where you're sitting in a meeting and your wife texts you and it pops up in the corner of your glasses and you want to respond but you don't want to like pull out your phone because that's kinda rude," he said. "It turns out you can have a device on your wrist that basically your brain can communicate with your hand, tell your hand to move in a pattern it isn't used to, and then the wristband can sort of pick up those signals and translate them into completely different things like having a virtual hand move in front of you while your physical hand is sitting there at your side," Zuckerberg said. "You want the mature version of that [technology], not the one where it's gonna get a lot better next year and you need to get your brain implant upgraded every year," he said. "The super-hard part here is going to be having a computer give you information straight into your brain, and that's not a thing that we're working on," Zuckerberg said.

Some Trump allies have called for defunding the FBI as a result. Former President Trump and some of his allies seized on the report at the time as showing evidence that Hunter was involved in questionable business dealings while his father served as vice president. Zuckerberg said he took the warning seriously. This warning came after Russia used social media platforms, including Facebook, to post content intended to be polarizing ahead of the 2016 election. Both social media companies found themselves blasted by US Republicans and Donald Trump supporters, and had to explain their actions before a US Senate hearing in the following days. Asking Zuckerberg if he regretted suppressing the factual story, the Facebook founder replied: "It sucks... The article remains controversial. Facebook founder and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg spoke about the Hunter Biden laptop story on Joe Rogan's podcast.

Instead, the evidence indicates that the alerts sent by the FBI were of a general nature. It seems unlikely that the FBI would have alerted tech companies about one New York Post story. Joe Rogan had Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on his podcast. They talked about Facebook censorship policies and how his career has effected him.

“Mark Zuckerberg is a smart guy and is really ambitious. Or you could be a little more lenient and say, ‘OK, the cost of taking out any number of good guys is too high so we’re gonna tolerate having a little bit more bad guys on the system.’ These are values questions,” he said. Rogan claimed in the podcast that Facebook profits off of “encouraging dissent” and quizzed Zuckerberg about how the company handles controversial topics. “It’s almost like every day you wake up and you’re punched in the stomach,” Zuckerberg told Rogan. Ultimately, Zuckerberg said there are some trade-offs that his company has to make depending on whether it is strict or lenient on censorship. Zuckerberg assured him that the company doesn’t take censorship mistakes lightly.

After an hour or two of working out or rolling or wrestling with friends or training with different folks, it’s like, you’re ready to solve all the problems for the day, I’ve fully processed all the different news for the day that’s come in and we’re just ready to go.” And it’s like, ‘OK, well fuck, now I need to go reset myself and be productive, and not be stressed about it.’ So basically, I go, I read, I take in the information, and then I go do something physical for an hour or two and reset myself. Right, people like, reserve the good stuff to tell me in person, so it’s like, what’s going on in the world I need to pay attention to that day. So I’ve just found that is just really important for me, in terms of what I do and being able to just kind of maintain my energy level, maintain my focus. So, at the beginning of COVID, I mentioned I spend a lot of time in Kauai, our family has a ranch down there, and like, I spent a lot of time foiling and surfing. It requires full engagement the whole time, and then, this is sort of how I got into MMA too, now I don’t spend as much time in Kauai because things are ramping back up and I’m in the office a lot more, so, it’s like, alright, there’s not as much foiling in Palo Alto? If you’re foiling or surfing and you’re on a wave, you have to pay attention the whole time or else you’re going to fall and maybe get held under, and that’s not a great experience. “My parents pushed me really hard, they said, you’re going to do really well in school, and you’re going to be on three varsity sports teams.
