Will it be repeat or revenge when Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua face off once again for heavyweight gold? The Sporting News will be providing live ...

- Main event: 5:15 p.m. - Main card: 12 p.m. The 25-year-old's huge reach has immediately caused problems for Jozef Jurko, his opponent known as 'The Slovakian Bulldog' who has shown ample aggression and appears to be shouting at Lapin in an attempt to incite a more toe-to-toe scrap. Lapin just landed a body shot that sounded like an axe hitting a tree. Jurko, to his credit again, responds with flashes of success on his own. The towering Kiev fighter beckons Jurko on, and his adversary raggedly goes for broke, showing impressive reserves of energy while coming no nearer to a meaningful blow. He takes a few clips to his whiskers for his trouble. Whittaker chuckles at something the exalted trainer says as he stands in wait for the fifth. "I just tried to box to my gameplan," Whittaker tells DAZN. Tabiti has a noticeable speed superiority to the heavier fighter and is finding success with his jab. When he takes him to the ropes again, an uppercut proves too much and sends Wilson down. A smooth one-two saw Alatorre decked within the final minute of the round and right hooks to body and head saw it waved off with five seconds of the round remaining.

Oleksandr Usyk retained his three heavyweight titles with a split decision victory over Anthony Joshua in their rematch on Saturday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

in June 2019 -- ESPN's Upset of the Year -- Joshua reclaimed the unified championship with a decision victory in the rematch six months later. Joshua, a 32-year-old from England, was attempting to become a three-time heavyweight champion. But before he could truly capitalize, Usyk turned the tables and responded with his best round of the fight. "This is already history," said Usyk, who like Joshua captured gold at the 2012 Olympics. Joshua threw 67 punches in the ninth and connected on 28, double his fight high. And that was the difference tonight. The 10th round was one of the best I've seen to turn a fight around. to all military members defending the country." "I want to thank everyone who prayed for me," said Usyk, the former undisputed cruiserweight champion. Fury claimed he was retired following an April victory over Dillian Whyte, only to announce a comeback earlier this month. After talks with Derek Chisora stalled, Fury reversed course and insisted again that he was retired. And if I'm not fighting Tyson Fury, I'm not fighting at all."

There’s no shame in losing to Usyk, who has a legitimate case to be called the No. He allowed the fight to take place largely in the middle of the ring (like the first fight), allowed Usyk to largely dictate the pace (ditto) and wound up on the wrong end of a decision. Fury-Usyk isn’t as big as Fury-Joshua, but an undisputed heavyweight championship fight is a big deal anywhere, in the UK or abroad. After the fight, Usyk said he would fight Fury or he wouldn’t fight again. Usyk has three pieces of the heavyweight title. Joshua was more committed to the body—AJ and his team believed Usyk was vulnerable there—but beyond the ninth round he didn’t deliver a sustained attack.

Oleksandr Usyk has urged Tyson Fury to come out of retirement and fight him for the undisputed world heavyweight title.

He had the chance to fight him and chose not to. “I wanted to win for Great Britain because I know they want me to fight Tyson Fury,” Joshua said. You wanted to fight the elite. You never had the easy fights because you wanted to complete a résumé. “I saw in the eighth round, I saw in AJ’s eyes that he was feeling victorious already. “He’s too good and there’s no shame in it,” he said. Turning to Joshua, he said: “You’ve had to step up to carry the sport in our country. “It was one of the worst heavyweight title fights I have ever seen,” he said. In the later press conference, Usyk dedicated his victory to the people of Ukraine. “I am convinced he wants to fight me. His promoter, Frank Warren, said this month that Fury was showing signs of “itchy feet” and was keen to get back into the ring. I want to fight him.

Oleksandr Usyk's victory builds a clear path to the undisputed ... (ESPN)

Where do we go from here in the heavyweight division? All eyes shift once again to Tyson Fury.

The 34-year-old Englishman is able to switch stances seamlessly and his jab is one of the best in boxing. Fury bullied Wilder in his last two fights, leaning on him in the clinch and pushing him to the ropes, forcing his opponent to contend with all 270 pounds of him. Sure, Joshua is a big man at 6-feet-6, 245 pounds, but Fury is 6-foot-9, 270-plus pounds and possesses the sort of jab and footwork that separates him from his countryman, Joshua and most other fighters in the sport. Fury's promoter, Bob Arum, told ESPN's Mark Kriegel on Saturday that Usyk-Fury "won't be a hard fight to make," and that the purse split should be 50-50. But this fight makes far too much sense -- and dollars -- to fall by the wayside. Inside the ring, Usyk has proven to be just as courageous. He rallied with an even more dominant Round 10, and also displayed the punch resistance necessary to withstand the most dangerous shots. Usyk's use of angles, movement and an educated jab have made him a puzzle no opponent has been able to solve. "I will annihilate both of them on the same night," he said, referring to Usyk and Joshua. And if I'm not fighting Tyson Fury, I'm not fighting at all." While Joshua prepared for the rematch against Usyk, Fury defeated Dillian Whyte in April and immediately announced his retirement. That final strap, of course, is held by Tyson Fury, whose on-again, off-again retirement claims appear to be a rite of passage for top fighters.
