JASPER, Ind. — Grant Young had been hearing the same question all summer: How good was this Jasper football team? There wasn't any ill intent in the topic.
The Tigers also couldn’t stop the Wildcats in the second half. We were cramping and down to the second and third string. “We put a lot of hard work in the summer,” said Bair. Bair was dynamic in the opening half with both Jasper touchdowns: a four-yard pitch and a 19-yard reception with 10 seconds left in the second quarter. The offensive line bullied the Tigers in the second half. We were the aggressors. It was also telling how Jasper (1-0) responded in the second half. “The seniors realized that we have to play together if we want to do something good this year. This was certainly an "A" on the grading scale with no curve. but we’ll play a good team the next week, the next week and the next. The Wildcats didn’t bite when the same conversations happened in the offseason. The Wildcats went undefeated in the regular season last year but graduated a deep and talented senior class.

"I told (Gordon) to enjoy the win tonight," Hurt said. "I just wanted to remind him about the next play," Guerzini said. But Gordon showed flashes of his potential on Friday and it could be an indication of future success as he continues to find comfort leading the offense. Gordon added: "Specifically for me, I need to make the correct reads and take easy stuff. So I definitely need to work on that." "Just the hype and the whole team feels great. And I guarantee that Mater Dei will be working." It's all about the next play." The senior trio of Guerzini, Bishop and Weston Aigner had 245 of the 296 total yards offensively. He stuck within the offense, and when you do that, good things happen. It's time to introduce Caden Gordon, a junior who made a statement in his first varsity start as a quarterback Friday night with a 266-yard, three-touchdown performance during a 28-21 road win against North. He fueled the Class 5A No.
