1 hour 10 minutes to kickoff: Liverpool have won their last five meetings with Crystal Palace at Anfield in the Premier League but it is worth remembering that today's visitors were once something of a bogey team for their hosts. 1 hour 45 minutes to kickoff: Merseyside has been blessed with some fine weather today but the players will be glad to see temperatures dropping to more reasonable levels as we approach the start of the match. So silly from the Uruguayan, who may have cost his team a chance of getting back into this. He is, though, denied by a fine block and Palace hold on. 22mins: Salah runs onto a low Alexander-Arnold cross and opens up his body... Sadio Mane's six-month stint at centre-forward prior to his departure from Liverpool has resulted in Nunez being widely billed as his direct replacement. No matter what this season holds for Klopp's side, Diaz is certain to play a key role. 61mins: GOAL! Liverpool 1-1 Crystal Palace (Diaz) - Game on? Any regret he felt when the red card was initially brandished will only have grown as his teammates pushed for a winner late on despite their numerical disadvantage. The ten men of Liverpool are level! Making his full Premier League debut for his new club at Anfield, Nunez lost his senses in inexplicable fashion as he went for his opponent twice in quick succession with referee Paul Tierney close by. Liverpool vs Crystal Palace, live! Score, updates, video, stream link (NBC Sports)

Liverpool and Crystal Palace both seek their first wins of the young Premier League season when they meet Monday at Anfield.

It should be said that for as much as Liverpool were in control of the ball, Crystal Palace were quite comfortable in control of where the Reds were allowed to possess it. Liverpool will be leaning on Virgil van Dijk at the back as the Reds deal with some early injuries to defense and midfield. Not that it’s really that simple or straightforward, of course, unless Patrick Vieira is your manager, at which point it is now expected of Crystal Palace. The Eagles hardly had a sniff of the ball, let alone the opposition penalty area, in the opening half hour, and yet they were as sharp and quick as could be when Eberechi Eze had his one opportunity to send Zaha in on goal. At the time of Zaha’s opener, Liverpool had attempted 133 passes inside the opposition half; Crystal Palace had tried just 17. Man City led Liverpool by double-digit points almost midway through last season before taking the title race down to the final minute of the season, but it would be unwise to count on the two-time defending champions to slip up in such fashion again. They fell behind the newly promoted Cottagers twice last week, and again on Monday they found themselves behind after conceding the game’s first goal for a sixth straight Premier League fixture (dating back to last season). Injuries are mounting up now as well, with Nuñez likely to be suspended for three games, at the same time Diogo Jota, Ibrahima Konate, Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara, Roberto Firmino and Curtis Jones, among other fringe players, currently unavailable.

Five things spotted in Liverpool vs Crystal Palace as Luis Díaz ... (Liverpool.com)

Liverpool came from a goal down against Crystal Palace to earn a draw courtesy of Luis Díaz, but Darwin Núñez will get the headlines.

It earned him the roaring approval of Anfield. It could not quite yield a winner, but it was an admirable display. However, the fact is that there was a spotlight on the right-back. But as Liverpool fought for a way back into the game, he was a handful for defenders in all the wrong ways. By the end of the half, he could have had a hattrick — and almost certainly should have had at least one. Liverpool have occasionally struggled to carve out clear-cut opportunities against mid-table sides, and that was certainly not the problem here, with Núñez undoubtedly a handful. Straight from the off, it was clear what a difference Núñez can make to this Liverpool attack. Cutting in from the left, he jinked past his man, unleashing a curling effort towards the right corner. Crystal Palace were not given a moment to settle into the contest, and spent the vast majority of the opening exchanges on the back foot. It was far more reminiscent of the old fast starts under Klopp. More often than not, that will be rewarded. There were a few personnel changes, but the biggest difference was in attitude. Klopp was clearly dissatisfied with the lacklustre showing against Fulham, and was never going to accept a repeat performance. It could easily have been more, with Liverpool dominating even after being reduced to 10, but the winner proved elusive.
