Vikings vs. Raiders DFS picks: Showdown lineup advice, captain ... (DraftKings Nation)

We discuss the best DFS options for the Minnesota Vikings and Las Vegas Raiders Week 1 preseason game.

In a game where the depth should see their most action of the preseason, Chandler is a solid value play here. Chandler was drafted in the fifth round of this year’s draft as the latest staple running back out of North Carolina. He is listed as fourth on the depth chart behind Dalvin Cook, Alexander Mattison and Kene Nwangwu, which means he should see a good amount of playing time in this game. He played in the Hall of Fame game and brought in his lone targets for a nice seven-yard gain. The Raiders played in the Hall of Fame game, so this will be their second preseason game. Mond was drafted in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He only played in one game his rookie year and finished 2-3 for five yards. The Minnesota Vikings will hit the road to take on the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 1 of the preseason on Sunday, August 14.

And with Trayvon Mullen still on PUP and Rock Ya-Sin, Anthony Averett not expected to play, Robertson should get his first shot to show what he brings to the tabkle. That could just be McDaniels hiding his intentions for Hollins, but be on the look out to see if Hollins will peel back the curtain a little bit and show up today against the Vikings. He ran for a short touchdown for the second straight game. The Las Vegas run defense struggled at times as well. Defensively, the Raiders had both good and bad moments. After looking great against Jacksonville, the Raiders’ run game wasn’t overly impressive Sunday in the first half but Austin Walter and Brittain Brown ran well in the second half. That is worrisome since the preseason competition is not great and Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack of the Los Angeles Chargers looming for Derek Carr in exactly four weeks. The only clear starter not to play Sunday (again) was left tackle Kolton Miller. What stood out most of the offensive line rotation was seventh-round pick Thayer Munford starting at right tackle ahead of 2021 first-round pick Alex Leatherwood. Brandon Parker, who started at left tackle last week, has been out with an injury.

QB Chase Garbers Impressive in Limited Playing Time for Raiders (CalBearsMaven)

Every pass by the former Cal standout was on target Sunday. Ex-Golden Bears star Camryn Bynum was in starting lineup for Vikings.

These exhibition games are important for Garbers, even if his chances of making the Raiders’ regular-season roster are slim. Stidham has the advantage of having played in head coach Josh McDaniels’ system while both were with the Patriots. And Mullens has the advantage of having made 17 regular-season NFL starts. So he is 6-for-9 for 54 yards for the preseason. But will he still be on the Raiders’ roster a week from now? Garbers was sacked on the next pass play called, although he nearly got away. Derek Carr, the Raiders’ starter, did not play Sunday. Jarrett Stidham, who looks like he will be Carr’s backup, played the entire first half, finishing 10-for-15 for 68 yards and a 76.5 passer rating.

Raiders winners and losers in 26-20 preseason victory vs Vikings (Raiders Wire)

The Raiders started hot and held on to beat the Vikings at Allegiant Stadium. Which players impacted the game the most for Las Vegas?

He allowed WR Ihmir Smith-Marsette to cross his face inside for a 22-yard gain in the second quarter, and he followed that up with a holding penalty. In the second quarter, the Raiders started playing some of their reserves at defensive tackle, and the Vikings began to pick up yardage in chunks. But the Raiders are scrambling for answers at right tackle. Raiders WR D.J. Turner added some juice to this preseason affair with a lightning-fast 35-yard catch and run for a touchdown in the third quarter. Mainly, this game was a reminder that the Raiders’ situation at defensive tackle is somewhat unknown behind projected starters, Johnathan Hankins and Bilal Nichols, who are both still on the PUP list. He’s reportedly done so in practice, but he had a subpar day on Sunday at Allegiant. It was an uneven day for the Raiders special teams. His solid performance keeps him in the No. 2 spot, despite Mullens having a great day himself, completing 7-of-9 passes for 94 yards and a touchdown through the air. Also for the second-straight week, he had a rushing touchdown. What’s more, expected special teams standout Mack Hollins hustled all the way downfield and made the tackle. Turner had three total catches for 58 yards, and he added a 26-yard punt return. But McDaniels clearly has a lot of work to do.

We felt like practice this week pushed that competition even further and wanted to go ahead and give a few other opportunities today and I thought we did that by moving some guys in and out inside and starting there at the right side. “The competition is real. Then again, Carr has always had a quick release so he may be able to overcome a lot of the potential issues in pass protection. Sunday’s players included those ranked 51 to 100. For a young guy, (Thayer Munford has) done a nice job for himself and earned the opportunity that he had today. Carr wasn’t the only Raiders to be named to the Top 100. In 2017, Carr was No. 11 after leading the Raiders to a 12-4 record. McDaniels said there is time for the Raiders to find the right starting combo and is looking forward to seeing how the competition plays out. With just three passing attempts in the game, he would have two completions, including a nice catch by Turner over the middle of the field. As mentioned, Stidham played the entire first half and was able to keep the ball moving for the most part. He looks the part of a backup quarterback. On a fifteen-play first drive, he did a good job of delivering the ball on time despite being under some considerable pressure. On his first drive, he made several easy throws as the Raiders looked to make things easy on their back-ups. As such, this became a showcase for the reserves who are still looking to earn a shot.

Raiders overcome high snap that resulted in a loss of 19 yards. Raiders with another long drive while getting their lead back up to 10 points. Vikings fall to 0-1 but did some good things on both sides of the ball. Brown punched it in from a yard out several plays later as the Raiders went back up by two possessions. After a stellar preseason debut against the Jaguars in the Hall of Fame Game (Vegas rushed for 159 yards and three scores on 33 carries in that contest), the Raiders weren't quite as effective on Sunday, gaining 140 yards and two scores while averaging 3.6 yards an attempt. McDaniels and the Vikings' Kevin O'Connell -- the new head coaches this season for each team -- decided to roll the dice on fourth downs. Despite Cole's booming punt, the Vikings overcome the poor field position with a 79-yard scoring drive. Minnesota rumbled for 115 yards on 22 carries for an average of 5.2 yards per attempt. Mond's case would be even stronger had he not missed an open Trishton Jackson in the end zone on the Vikings' final drive of the first half. Las Vegas received solid play from Stidham and fellow backup quarterback Nick Mullens, who were a combined 17 of 24 for 162 yards and two touchdowns. After a shaky start, Mond engineered three scoring drives that included two touchdown passes to Albert Wilson. The Vikings' defense was led by defensive tackle T.Y. Raiders preseason: Winners and losers against Minnesota Vikings (Silver and Black Pride)

A few standouts from the Silver and Black in both directions from their second preseason game.

Robertson didn’t play in the Hall of Fame game so this weekend was his 2022 preseason debut, and he allowed two catches on three targets for 32 yards in addition to getting flagged for defensive holding. As mentioned above, Walter had a strong performance and Brittain Brown stood out as well with 14 carries for 54 yards and scored one of the team’s two rushing touchdowns. Struggling to make plays in the open field was a big reason why he got benched last season, and seeing him whiff in his first game back isn’t exactly a comforting sight. Of his 30 total yards, 24 came after contact and he forced two missed tackles, bringing his preseason totals up to 54 and four which is impressive considering the Raiders have a crowded backfield and he’s only had 15 carries. The Ohio State product made the most of the opportunity as well. Butler was a big reason why Minnesota averaged 5.2 yards per carry as he struggled to hold his ground against the run, creating wide rushing lanes for the backs to exploit. After logging just one tackle and one pressure on 16 snaps against the Jaguars, he managed to come up with nothing — no tackles or pressures — in 19 reps against the Vikings. Beat writers, the coaching staff and other players have all been singing his praises, so it seemed like he had turned the corner. Those are the types of plays that will stand out in McDaniels’ system that likes to use a lot of short to intermediate passes. But it’s not just that the seven-year veteran isn’t showing up on the stat sheet, he’s also not pulling his weight on the underappreciated parts of the game too. To me, Turner was the Raiders' biggest winner from the afternoon. The Las Vegas Raiders are two games into the Josh McDaniels’ era and so far, there has been very little to complain about.
