"Never, never and I continue to do this. "So...good," he added in response. I'm happy to let the game go, but let it go in every direction please and not like this. This is, yeah, it's what it is today and it will not go away. If he does not see something, that's why we have people to check if there is a decisive error going on. Since when is that [not a foul]? If he does not see it, I do not blame him.

Chelsea to continue spending spree by targeting £50m-rated ... (Eurosport.com)

Chelsea have engaged in negotiations with Everton over the signing of Anthony Gordon - who the Toffees value at £50 million.

The Manchester United squad were forced to come in for extra training after the club’s new manager Erik ten Hag cancelled the players’ day off. Manchester City will loan Liam Delap out this season and the young striker has attracted attention from a handful of English clubs. Paper Round’s view: The Barcelona situation just seems a bit silly at the moment. Gordon has just burst onto the scene and has quickly become a fans’ favourite at his boyhood club, Everton. It seems odd that Chelsea are willing to part with such a huge transfer fee for a player who has only really had one consistent season of Premier League football. The Catalan club are also hoping to sign Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso and Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva before the transfer window closes next month. The London side believe that it will be straightforward to agree personal terms with Gordon and negotiations between the clubs will continue this week.

Chelsea, Tottenham managers get red cards after dramatic ... (The Washington Post)

The tense confrontation between Premier League foes Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte drew comparisons to 2016's "Battle of the Bridge."

Recent history has seen Chelsea get the upper hand over Tottenham, with nine victories to just three losses and two draws in head-to-head matchups since Chelsea fired Conte as its manager in 2018. The tension between the two managers had been bubbling even before Kane’s goal, though, as Conte met Tuchel chest-to-chest in the 68th minute while celebrating Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s initial equalizer. When asked if Tuchel was the aggressor, Conte said.

Chelsea were more passive defensively than in the first half and just before Hojbjerg scored, Jorginho lost possession inside his own box. Meanwhile, Chelsea remain in contact with Barcelona for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and are set to ramp up their interest in the former Arsenal captain this week football.london understands. He's the sort of player we want to build to go forward with. I've said to him I don't want him to try and think he's doing pirouettes on the halfway line now. Gordon enjoyed his breakthrough season for Everton last term, where he featured 35 times in the Premier League, scoring four goals and assisting two. I didn't go searching for it, but I understand how it can feel important to you. Gordon still has three years remaining on his contract at Goodison Park, and earlier this summer, Frank Lampard insisted the Liverpool-born forward is not for sale.

Chelsea have been actively searching for a new name to take the title of Sporting Director following Marina Granovskaia's departure from the club in July.

With Chelsea currently in a stable position with regards to transfers - talks are ongoing with Leicester for Wesley Fofana and with Barcelona for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - it is unlikely that Chelsea will be in a rush to find another name following Edwards' unfortunate response. “Maybe it would be better but we also have VAR to help make the right decisions.” Tuchel was later spoken to by the fourth official after charging down the touchline to celebrate James putting Chelsea 2-1 up. Taylor had not seen the incident in real time and Dean’s view was that Romero had not committed a red-card offence. He went on to question whether the 43-year-old should be barred from taking charge of the club’s games. The managers had to be pulled apart and then received bookings. The German was furious after both Spurs goals were allowed to stand in controversial circumstances and he did not hold back with his criticism of the refereeing.

Chelsea and Tottenham is why we watch (Deadspin)

After yesterday's fracas (it was certainly more than a game,) the temptation is to call Chelsea-Spurs the best rivalry going in the Premier League.

Conte just had to throw everything on with Ivan Perisic and Lucas Moura brought onto the field, and they were able to scramble an equalizer. Let’s be honest, this is a matchup problem for Tuchel. Conte is unhinged, you know he’s not above using weapons or kicking anyone in the pills and certainly will keep fighting no matter how much he’s taken. All of that said, the game will be remembered for the two managers having to be separated twice on the touchline. To boot, this game had everything that makes for a great match: great goals, controversy, a hilarious miss that could have swung the ultimate result, fights, late drama. Yesterday’s 2-2 draw wasn’t just the perfect example of why Chelsea-Tottenham is the best combat theater, but why the Premier League is the most watched league in the world. Throw that in the stew with these being London’s two best clubs (pipe down, Gooners, you know I’m right), and the fact that past games have become memorable bar brawls, and there is a menace or bile to these games that you can’t take your eyes off of.

Chelsea close to next transfer which may be completed this week (The Pride of London)

Chelsea are closing in on transfer target Cesare Casadei of Inter Milan, with a deal possibly to be completed during the current week.

Conor Gallagher and Mateo Kovacic are on hand to deputise for the Frenchman, with Gallagher really favoured to be involved. Naturally the bosses clashing – and seemingly almost coming to blows at one or two stages – took most of the headlines away from a great game for neutrals. The midfield was solid throughout, apart from one awfully glaring and costly Jorginho error in his own penalty box. Kai Havertz continues to thrill and disappointed in equal measures. Not to mention covering much of the analysis and interview time. Though the entertainment aspect will do nothing to ease the pain of Chelsea supporters, as Tottenham Hotspur escape Stamford Bridge with an undeserved point.

Should Everton sell Anthony Gordon to Chelsea? (Royal Blue Mersey)

There has been interest in the forward earlier this summer from both Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United as well, but Everton have stuck to their valuation ...

At the end of the day, no one player is bigger than the club, and if we could all say with ultimate certainty that we trust Everton to use the funds in a manner that would get us to become top six challengers again, then by all means go ahead and sell him. The counter argument there is that it’s time to change the psyche of this team from the lovable and hard-done losers they were last season to a more hardened fighting unit. But with only two weeks to go until the window shuts it is a high-risk strategy, especially with the club already short of creativity and goals. But if we do sell for £50m or so we have to have a plan. I’d ordinarily say take a £40m bid but the obvious thing is that we can get £50m or near it from Chelsea or Newcastle so I’d definitely sell but hold out for nearer 50. Gordon is a great kid and very popular with the fans.
