Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love could certainly relate after Friday night's game against the San Francisco 49ers. The box score tells you that in the ...
Here, Love was trying to get the ball to Amari Rodgers over the middle, but Womack did a great job of getting inside position. Love’s third interception — and Womack’s second of the day — came with 5:31 left in the first half, and it was the third straight drive in which his pick ended a drive. He was throwing a backside dig to receiver Romeo Doubs, and if you look at the trajectory of the ball, Love actually threw this to a good place — over the head of cornerback Samuel Womack III, and in a place where Doubs has a better shot at the ball than his defender.
The Packers-49ers game Friday was a good example of why wide receivers usually don't have a big impact in their rookie seasons.
He could have used some help from safety Vernon Scott, who bit on a route he shouldn’t have, but Gafford’s technique was poor and he has to show he can play corner if he’s going to make the roster. He was completely spun around by receiver Ray-Ray McCloud and fell to the ground, allowing a 39-yard touchdown reception. Doubs is on track to play a lot this year and the kind of mistakes he made are typical of a rookie playing his first preseason game. Heflin was as active as any defender on the field and finished with four tackles, including one for loss. Davis has been running great routes and showing possibly the best hands in the entire receiving group, but his lack of size limits how much he can play because he’s not a good run blocker. Overall, Love had time and room around his feet to deliver the ball on most passing opportunities.
Despite that, Packers coach Matt LaFleur defended Love, saying that two of his three interceptions were not his fault. “I think two of those you ...
We say it all the time about quarterbacks, they’re going to get too much credit when we do well and they’re going to get a lot of the blame when we don’t, and that’s just the reality of playing that position in this league. Love completed 13 of 24 passes for 176 yards, with two touchdowns and three interceptions, plus four carries for 24 yards. He had some bright moments, but also too many inaccurate throws, and didn’t look the way most coaches would want a first-round quarterback to look at the start of Year 3.

I thought he got us in and out of the huddle extremely crisp and with urgency. Overall, though, LaFleur said he was “pleased” with Love’s performance and felt the blame for the interceptions fell more so on the receivers than the quarterback.
Jordan Love is looking more and more like a bust with every passing snap, as this man is not the Green Bay Packers' heir apparent to Aaron Rodgers.
If the Packers believe Rodgers is a year-to-year proposition at this point, then they need to find and develop a quarterback who mirrors his skill set. Rodgers is many things, but one thing he is not is inherently reckless with the football. It may have only been a preseason game against a team Rodgers has no clue how to beat anyway when it matters, but Love threw three picks!

The intensity is a little bit higher, and I think the game action is a lot better than practice." "I think the game action means a lot," Love told reporters.
While his passes weren't always perfect, all three of Love's interceptions went off the hands of his receivers, so his final numbers could have been better.
