Cowboys Ex Dez Bryant on Rookie QB: 'I Believe the Hype' (Sports Illustrated)

And on Friday night, after seeing the Atlanta Falcons defeat the Detroit Lions 27-23 behind late-game preseason heroics from quarterback Desmond Ridder, he's ...

Even at 33, and his NFL career unofficially at its end, he remains a student of the game. For the Falcons, the quarterback battle headed into this season was always fixing to be a tightly contested one. "Another thing I like about Ridder … he does a great job not panicking whenever no one is open, which makes his running ability dangerous … I believe in his hype.” I believe Atlanta is looking for a franchise QB who fits their system." Of course, those circumstances were much different than those that unfolded Friday night. Despite a lack of postseason success, Romo was a franchise cornerstone in Dallas. Prescott, though a top quarterback in college at Mississippi State, was never expected to take over at QB1 and lead the Cowboys to a 13-3 record and the No. 1 seed as a rookie.

Denver Broncos vs. Dallas Cowboys: 5 Things to watch (Mile High Report)

We have football! I give you seven things to watch for during the Broncos preseason openers vs. the Dallas Cowboys.

Veteran Sam Martin is the favorite for the job but Corliss Waitman has been booming kicks in camp and could serve as a cheaper option for the Broncos this upcoming season. If he booms a few punts and downs some inside the 20-yard line, we could be having a larger conversation after tonight’s game. Probably the most competitive roster battle to watch during the preseason will be for the 4th, 5th, and potentially 6th cornerback spots. He had some hype during the spring and needs to carry that into the summer. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him play well and start making his push for a roster spot. I am really hoping to see a strong showing out of Michael Ojemudia during the preseason. His blend of elite athleticism, size/speed/strength, and natural bend have Browning looking like a potential starter for the Broncos' defense. These two will have their first big chance to prove they are worthy of potentially getting these reps and for Johnson’s sake at least, making the Broncos' 53-man roster. The Broncos only have three quarterbacks on the roster so we’ll see plenty of these two during the next three preseason games. Montrell Washington was the star of Broncos camp and was an unexpected one at that. So he will likely need to outperform his expectations to win the backup job. It is unlikely we see a lot or any of the Broncos' key starters during this game.

Cowboys T.J. Vasher talks being a tall receiver, playing at Rider (The Dallas Morning News)

Cowboys wide receiver T.J. Vasher joined an episode of The K&C Masterpiece on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM] last week to talk about being a tall receiver, North.

Do you hear the critiques of Dak? And what do you think when people are like “wow, he’s not that great?” We had CeeDee lamb on earlier and he’s still talking about showing he’s a true number one receiver, and that I heard there was kind of a motion of that there’s gotta be an alpha personality coming out of the wide receiver group. All that really matters is how us guys insider the locker room feel about each other and how we can go out and perform for each other. I think we kind of put that chip on our shoulder and try to carry that. Vasher: “At Tech I played kickoff some, especially with it being one of those things that start the game off as real high energy. Vasher: “I respect Luka’s game to the fullest. Vasher: “Yeah, I mean, we always like to believe that the offense kind of runs through us. I know all the benefits of being tall as a wide receiver, obviously going up and getting the ball. Vasher: “Usually with me being taller, most of the time going up against smaller DB, there’s just a lot more of my body to be grabbed on to. I feel like in the wide receiver group I know I’m the tallest, but on the team, I feel like there may be a couple.” But my deal was to let that be where it was on that day and hopefully try to make something new happen each day.” have you lived off that one or are you like, “alright, I gotta go get another one?”

3 Cowboys players to watch in first preseason game against Broncos (The Landry Hat)

The Dallas Cowboys travel to Denver to face the Broncos in Week 1 of the 2022 preseason. Here are three players to keep an eye on in that exhibition game.

But before we get ahead of ourselves, it would be best to see how Smith does against other teams. The coaching staff believes he can clean this up, and if so, Smith could end up being another future Pro Bowl lineman based on how he’s looked in camp. For fans, this can feel like a letdown and there wasn’t a lot of excitement when Tyler Smith was announced as their selection in Round 1 this year.

Dallas Cowboys 'Toxic Fans': No Randy Gregory Revenge at Broncos (Sports Illustrated)

The Cowboys have “a toxic fan base that believe I owe them something. LOL.” - Randy Gregory.

Should the Cowboys have deleted or softened the wording? Should Schaffer have either better-understood himself or better-explained to Gregory the wording? But the fact is, Gregory has missed more than 50 games due to suspension and has yet to play a full season. Schaffer has insisted he's never in "30 years in this business'' seen such a clause. He's battled back from his issues and in 2021 recorded six sacks while showing signs of dominance. The language concerns the possibility of forfeiture of guaranteed money in the event of fines or suspensions by the NFL related to the league's Policy and Program on Substances of Abuse, an area in which Gregory has a history of trouble.

Who knows if the Cowboys will keep that same plan for the next two preseason games, but against the Broncos, don't expect to see those guys on the field. And in the secondary, Jayron Kearse, Jourdan Lewis, Anthony Brown and Donovan Wilson will all sit out. But as expected, you can cross off at least 20 guys from the top, as the Cowboys will keep nearly two dozen players out of the game.

Dallas Cowboys-Denver Broncos, Randy Gregory on PUP, summary ... (AS English)

We won't see Wilson or Prescott, but will see what the rookies can do as the Dallas Cowboys take on the Denver Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High.

Hello and welcome to AS USA’s live coverage of the Dallas Cowboys at Denver Broncos week 2 preseason game! Tyler Smith was the Cowboys first pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, and has been criticized for the amount of penalties he got in college, so that will be something to watch for as well. Ex Cowboys DE Randy Gregory, who made headlines when he suddenly signed with the Broncos instead of re-signing with the Cowboys, did not practice on Thursday. He is still on the Physically Unable to Perform list, so the Cowboys won’t have to face him tonight either. The rookie out of UDFA, Brandon Johnson is looking for a chance to be one of Russell Wilson’s go-to guys. The preseason is his chance to show that he’s capable of being a reliable backup to RBs Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon. Hopefully we get to see some of that action tonight against the Cowboys. Cooper Rush pass incomplete, but a pass interference call on Denver gives the Cowboys the automatic first down. Rookie first round draft pick Tyler Smith is called for holding, puts them at 2nd and 16 and the Broncos stop them after 5 yards. When the Cowboys drafted Smith, the penalties he got in college were a big concern, and he's proving why that hasn't changed. They kick it away and Washington runs it down the field 27 yards for a huge gain for Denver. Johnson throws deep 24-yard pass to Hinton for his first catch of the night. Broncos defense is putting the pressure on Rush and they've got no chance at 4th and 21.

Why Cowboys won't face old friend Randy Gregory in Preseason ... (The Landry Hat)

Former Cowboys DE Randy Gregory will not be playing in tonight's preseason game against the Broncos. He is still recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.

Will the former Cowboy be rusty in Week 1 after not participating in any of offseason programming? He’s dealing with a rotator cuff injury, and the Broncos hope he’ll be ready for Week 1 of the regular season, which certainly puts him out of any preseason games. Because the Broncos are an AFC team, they are not an opponent the Cowboys regularly face.

Broncos 17, Cowboys 7; Top 10 Whitty Observations: Flag Football ... (Sports Illustrated)

Highlights were as sparse as raindrops in DFW this Summer, as the sloppy Cowboys committed 17 penalties in losing to the Broncos in their preseason opener.

It was the ugliest Cowboys' sight in Denver since Tony Dorsett finished his Hall-of-Fame career with a carry for the Broncos in 1988. 4. NO. 1 AT NO. 2 - Cooper Rush proved his worth last season by guiding the Cowboys to a key October victory in Minnesota in place of an injured Prescott. As the incumbent with at least one skin on the wall, the backup quarterback job is his to lose. 7. CASE FOR KELVIN - After a turbulent offseason in which he was questioned by Dallas police in conjunction with a drive-by murder outside a night club, cornerback Kelvin Joseph has waited all Summer to get back on the field. Last seen stripping on the field in New York. Remember, they went 0-4 last Summer and went on to a 12-5 record in the regular season. 2. ICING THE KICKER - The Cowboys' offense was so woeful that it created only two chances to sort out the team's kicking conundrum. In this game they were flagged a ridiculous 17 times for 129 yards. 6. FLAG FOOTBALL - The referee in this game was Alex Kemp. Ring a bell? He stonewalled defenders in pass protection, but was called for two holding penalties in the run game. Denver took advantage, making the second attempt for a 17-0 halftime lead. Because this one simply continued a trend of the Cowboys being dismal in the preseason. Or in 2016 when a fifth-round rookie named Dak Prescott showed eye-popping poise and accuracy in going 10 of 12 for 139 yards and two touchdowns in the L.A. Coliseum. None of this year's crop of Cowboys rookies - or any player, for that matter - had a game worth remembering, much less praising.

Game Recap: Cowboys Fall in Preseason Opener, 17-7 (DallasCowboys.com)

The Cowboys open the 2022 preseason with more penalties than points in a 17-7 loss to the Broncos.

Starting at their own 5-yard line, the offense went the distance in 16 plays with the rookie Davis rushing three times for 16 yards and hauling in a pass for nine more. On their first possession of the second half, the Cowboys decided to go for it on fourth-and-1 at the Denver 41-yard line. And this time the attempt was good, the Broncos going into the beak with a 17-0 advantage. The Broncos then capped the drive with a lofting pass to Seth Williams, who came down with the ball for the game's first score. The second frame got started with the Cowboys' again failing to convert a fourth-and-2, this time Tolbert unable to hold onto a pass over the middle. Penalties overall were a problem for the Cowboys in this one.

The eighth-year veteran would finish the game 16 of 23 passing for 172 yards and two touchdowns with a 69.7 completion percentage. Denver attempted to go for it on fourth down, but a Cowboys defender knocked the ball away forcing a turnover on downs. Williams would finish the game with four catches for 29 yards and one touchdown. The third-year safety would finish the game with one interception and one pass defensed. However, Johnson responded strongly on the next three drives that ended with two touchdowns and a field goal. The injury to Griffith is a cause for concern due to the depth of starter experience at the position. Midway through the first quarter, the Cowboys faced a 4th and 2 in Denver territory. Griffith immediately went down on the play and was visibly in a lot of pain. The injury came on the second play of the game. During Saturday’s win, P.J. Locke and Caden Sterns demonstrated their capability of operating the Denver defense on the backend of the secondary. Jonas Griffith, a starter on the Denver defense left the game with an elbow injury. The Broncos’ defense suffered a massive blow on Saturday in their win against the Cowboys.

And the time to do that is in practice. He's got the strength and the quick feet, he just needs to work on that technique. And that's what seemed to happen to Smith a couple of times Saturday night. NFL Preseason Week 1 Game Recap: Denver Broncos 17, Dallas ... (Pro Football Focus)

The Denver Broncos secured a 17-7 victory over the Dallas Cowboys Saturday night in both teams' first preseason game of 2022.

- Due to Dallas' struggles at quarterback, it was difficult to get a true gauge of the team's pass-catchers Saturday night. Edge defender Tarell Bashamposted one of Dallas' best run-defense grades, finishing with a 75.0-plus initial mark in that facet. Unfortunately, Rush struggled for the entire first half, finishing with a sub-60.0 initial passing grade. - While it took until late in the fourth quarter, wide receiverSimi Fehoko, who has reportedly impressed during training camp, hauled in Dallas' only touchdown of the game. Ultimately, Stevie Scott IIIwas the only Broncos back to rush for more than 15 yards Saturday evening. Finishing with an outstanding 90.0-plus initial passing grade, Johnson went 16-of-23 for 172 yards and two touchdowns. - WithoutMicah Parsonson the sideline, Malik Jeffersonappeared to have the best performance among Dallas' linebackers, as he finished with a 70.0-plus initial run defense in addition to securing a tackle for loss/no gain. - Russell Wilsondidn't suit up, so Josh Johnsonwas the Broncos' starting quarterback Saturday, and he did not disappoint. - Embroiled in competition with Smith for the starting left guard position,Connor McGovernhad a similarly impressive performance in pass protection, as he also finished with an 80.0-plus initial grade across 21 pass-blocking snaps. - SafetyCaden Sternsled the way for Denver's run defense, as he secured a team-high two run stops en route to a 70.0-plus initial run defense grade. - While he only ran 11 routes, wide receiverSeth Williamsmade the most of his opportunities, securing four of his five targets for 29 yards and a touchdown en route to a 70.0-plus initial grade. - Even though he allowed completions on all five of his targets,Justin Strnadfinished with two coverage stops and five tackles en route to a 75.0-plus initial coverage grade.

Dallas Cowboys at Denver Broncos: Stocks Up include Tyler Smith ... (Blogging The Boys)

Let's begin. Stock Down: Penalties and Team Discipline. There is just no excuse for committing 17 penalties. None. What is insane about that figure is that not ...

The literal-ness of stock being up and down merits that he regressed in this capacity. If you catch a touchdown your stock is obviously going to go up and Simi Fehoko hauled in Dallas’ only one of the night. The trouble with that is that Cooper Rush made his first NFL start in his fifth NFL season. Scratch that, he is the only swing tackle option on the team at the moment. Needless to say Saturday was not the most glowing entrance to the NFL for a rookie wide receiver. Ball is in fact the top swing tackle option on the team at the moment. The trouble is he is currently the sixth link in question. It is clear that he is on pace for an impressive season in his third year, although he obviously wasn’t up against some formidable competition. It’s the how of all this happened, including Thursday’s scrimmage against the Denver Broncos, that is more troubling. Consider that Kelvin Joseph (a second-year second-round pick) jumped offsides at the end of the first half as the Denver Broncos missed a field goal. The scoreboard notes that Dallas lost, but that isn’t where gripes have fallen among fans of the team. The Dallas Cowboys played a football game on Saturday night.

I don’t think this has anything to do with last year.” disciplined. In the end, the Cowboys defense allowed only 39 yards on 22 attempts (1.8 yards per carry) - a major nod at the likelihood of Dallas having potentially fixed what was once their biggest Achilles Heel on defense. Cowboys Coach McCarthy Dismisses Penalty Connection from ... (Sports Illustrated)

Follow along as we keep you up to date on Saturday night's preseason matchup versus Dallas and Denver.

Starting at their own 17-yard-line with 1:02 left in the first half, Johnson went 5-6 for Denver and slowly marched the Broncos offense down to the Dallas 39-yard-line. Rypien looked for an out route short to the right, but Cowboys cornerback Kyron Brown jumped the pass for a near interception. It took Dallas 16 plays, but Ben DiNucci finds Simi Fehoko in the end zone for Dallas' first score of the night. Brandon McManus then lined up for the 56 yard field goal ... but then it was wide left ... but then it wasn't. Denver got another try due to a Dallas penalty, which has been an issue all day for the Cowboys, and drilled it from 51 yards. Broncos quarterback Josh Johnson rolled out to the right on a rollout pass before Fowler hit him as releasing. The Cowboys start off the game with two short runs by Rico Dowdle to result in a 3rd and 6, their first third down situation of the night. Fehoko has impressed all training camp, and now gets his first touchdown of 2022. On third down, quarterback Cooper Rush sails it just over the receiver's head on a deep-out route. Dallas Cowboys' combo of Cooper Rush, Ben DiNucci a good ... (Fort Worth Star-Telegram)

Watching quarterback Cooper Rush start on Saturday night in the Dallas Cowboys' first fake game of the 2022 season was more than enough reason to go to ...

In the NFL, all of this has value for a team that doesn’t want to worry about that position. Cooper Rush is the Keith Richards of NFL quarterbacks. In the first half he completed 12 of 20 passes for 84 yards and an interception in the Cowboys’ 17-7 loss to Denver. Garrett was partial to undrafted guys, because he wasn’t out of Princeton. They prefer Cooper Rush not do much else other than pick up Dak’s dry cleaning. When Prescott suffered a season-ending injury in ‘20, the Cowboys brought Rush back late in the season and he just keeps sticking. Rush then joined the New York Giants practice squad in ‘20; not a coincidence since Garrett was then a member of the Giants’ staff. Maybe do his taxes. He made the team under than coach Jason Garrett in 2017 because he had he look of a project who could develop. Rush can’t really play the position in the NFL, but that has not stopped him for being on an NFL roster and becoming a millionaire. Rush needs to make a few more billion dollars to be in the same chat room as former Carroll star Chase Daniel, who at the age of 35 is still in the NFL making bank without making plays. This is not the first time we have watched Rush do this in a preseason game.

Risers and Fallers from the Denver Broncos' victory over the Cowboys (Mile High Sports)

The DENVER BRONCOS played a great game against the Dallas Cowboys, but which players shined the brightest and which raised concern?

Two of his next three passes were also hideous, as he threw a contested pass well behind the other Johnson on third down, and then forced Williams to make a baseball slide to catch that was so low and behind him, that the referees initially ruled it incomplete, before discussing amongst themselves. Mike Boone has been tearing it up all throughout camp but was a dud in the first preseason game. The only blemish on his performance was the few times he overpursued on play action and the one time he hopped offsides. Browning had a remarkable showing throughout the first half, as previously mentioned, and he’s a valuable piece to the defense. Griffith was the unquestioned starter alongside Josey Jewell at this point in the offseason, and inside linebacker might be the most shallow position group on the entire Denver Broncos roster. Hinton reeled in the Broncos’ second touchdown on a hyper-acrobatic grab in the back corner of the endzone and made another circus-act catch towards the end of the first half to help set up a critical field goal drive. Lastly, we have to mention Montrell Washington, who didn’t do much on offense, but was a breath of fresh air on special teams. His baseball slide for a 19-yard gain on a poor pass from Josh Johnson. It was the biggest play of the first quarter. Plus, when he left the game, he was the team’s leading receiver, with 64 yards on four receptions. Johnson was interfered with on the play (an illegal contact penalty that would be declined) and shook it off to make what was the biggest play of the first half. Obviously, the sample size is minuscule, but you can’t ask him to do much more as a return man. Williams also scored the team’s first touchdown, with a contested catch on a corner route that infantilized the opposing defender.

Important Observations from Dallas Cowboys First Pre-Season ... (SportDFW)

Does the Defensive Line really have depth or just a bunch of bodies and can they stop the run? Special Teams provides opportunity for down the roster players.

The issue for the Cowboys is, once again, those are the same circumstances for teams across the league and the Cowboys had the biggest issue with penalties after leading the league in flags a year ago. Finally Brown undercut a route and nearly had an INT that could’ve gone the entirety of the field for a Dallas Cowboys TD. Despite the dropped pick, Brown was instrumental in holding the Broncos to a FG. He came up with another PBU in the 4th quarter, but was hurt on the play. The only problem with that thinking is it’s the first pre-season game for just about everyone and no one else had the penalty issue to the extent of the Dallas Cowboys. What’s more troubling is in a game without starters, a large bulk of the infractions were called against guys this team expects to contribute. Fifth round DT, John Ridgeway, got a good push up front on a number of occasions while sixth round LB Devin Harper had a PBU and flashed on special teams and against the run. Unfortunately the rest of the night was a rough one for the second year corner. Granted, he looks bigger, stronger and made a couple of physical plays early on, but his body of work in the game wasn’t great. He reads the WR, turns to look for the ball and can’t seem to find it. Mentioning Fehoko doing a good job of coming back to help his QB, but it was DiNucci extending the play to give Simi a chance. Getting to the second level and then holding up in pass protection for Cooper Rush. It was a promising sign in the early goings. Next play the WR drops a pass on 3rd and 8, but even if caught Joseph was there for the stop. - The Defensive Line may have been the best unit on the field for the Dallas Cowboys. First defensive possession was impressive. Dante Fowler showed flashes of brilliance in his pursuit to the backfield, splitting blockers and getting a hit on Denver QB Josh Johnson to force an incompletion on 4th down.

3 takeaways from the Broncos 17-7 win versus the Cowboys (Broncos Wire)

Josh Johnson is the ripe age of 36, but he didn't look it Saturday night. In the win against the Cowboys, Johnson completed 16-of-23 passes for 172 yards and ...

Evero is a pupil of the Fangio system, which will give Denver a strong chance to produce similar, and even better performances. But for the rest of the yards — 175 yards allowed through air — would have been a solid outing if this game was played in September. The Broncos also produced one interception, and got behind the line of scrimmage on runs with six tackles for losses. Although starters on both teams sat, the Broncos showed the potential depth they will have on both sides of the ball while showcasing the new schematics installed this offseason.

Spagnola: Ain't Preseason Football Just Grand (DallasCowboys.com)

Welcome to the first game of preseason, when nothing is as good as it seems, nor as bad as it seems.

And as for all those penalties, you know, go back and look at this game. But also remember this, you don't play all the young guys at once when the season starts as they did Saturday night. Think the backup swing tackle needs attention. Why bet the Cowboys had half that many practices in pads the two weeks leading up to Super Bowl XXVII. And Ferguson catching three passes for 29 yards. And look, this wasn't all bad. Bet they weren't happy the Cowboys ran for 145 yards or that their offense totaled only a whopping 39 yards rushing on 22 carries, er, 1.8 a carry. How would you like to be the Jets today, knowing their presumed starting quarterback Zack Wilson will miss two to four weeks needing his knee scoped. That's why the practice Thursday against the Broncos and the two upcoming ones with the Chargers this week are so vital to the Cowboys preparation. "There are plays you make or don't make, but I don't get too hung up on that. Same for Josh Ball, Markquese Bell, Dennis Houston, Peyton Hendershot and Alex Lindstrom to name a few. "Early on it got to me.

5 Risers, 4 Fallers from Broncos' 17-7 Preseason Win Over Cowboys (Sports Illustrated)

The Denver Broncos defeated the Dallas Cowboys in preseason Game 1 quite handily, 17-7. It was the debut of head coach Nathaniel Hackett, and for the first ...

Okwuegbunam wasn't targeted in the passing game on Saturday night, and perhaps it was due to allowing a rusher to blow up Johnson on a critical third-down play. Throw in Montrell Washington, who's making this roster as a punt and kick returner at the very least, and the Broncos are going to have some very tough decisions to make. Because of that, the Broncos played Anderson a lot on Saturday night and he simply wasn't good. Locke was the beneficiary of Henningsen's third-down pressure, picking off a pass to end a Cowboys drive. He played a lot of nose tackle and consistently penetrated the Cowboys' backfield, forcing an errant throw on one play that was picked off on third down. But in that red zone series, which took place near the goal-line, he was a big reason the Broncos failed to punch it in, necessitating a go-for-it on fourth down. Anderson is currently the first-team right tackle but it's only in the nominal sense. Johnson tossed two beautiful touchdown passes and executed a nice two-minute drill that started on the Broncos' own 10-yard line. The Broncos switched Browning from inside to outside linebacker, and the early returns went a long way toward assuaging any concerns over the move. All of Denver's points came in the second quarter while Rypien was holding a clipboard. What happens next for the Broncos? Don't miss out on any news and analysis! The Denver Broncos defeated the Dallas Cowboys in preseason Game 1 quite handily, 17-7.

Denver Broncos vs Dallas Cowboys: The Preseason No Bull Review (Mile High Report)

The Denver Broncos won in a solid performance against the Dallas Cowboys. Here are my thoughts, opinions, and analysis on the Denver Broncos' most recent ...

Guys are getting shots to show up on the field of play and that’s what the preseason is for. I love seeing Kendall Hinton make plays and he made a great play to catch a TD in the 2nd quarter. He has rocket boosters for legs and is the kind of player that can develop into a real weapon in the NFL. I’ll be looking for more out of him next week. It is good to see a guy who can be impactful as a depth player on the team. It was a very solid job diagnosing the situation and making a play. He seemed like a guy that knew exactly what he was doing (unlike recent years with guys always having a bit of a confused face going on any given play). There were a lot of simple reads, vanilla calls, and practicing basic concepts and routes needed by anything predicated on the West Coast system we’ve been watching grow in the NFL for decades. He had a TFL, PD, QH, and capped off his performance with a big sack in the 2nd quarter. We can certainly learn a little bit about these types of questions in the preseason, but what we get is going to be very shallow in substance. He was flying around the field, penetrating the backfield of the Cowboys, and in general wreaking havoc. In the preseason I largely only care about the squads that are going to actually be on the roster in the regular season. That being said, the team represented itself well and looked to be well coached.

Cowboys Studs & Duds: Biggest Trade Need Revealed in Loss (Sports Illustrated)

Backup QB? Starting receiver? Yes. Sure. Maybe. But the biggest Week 1 “dud” in Denver is …

SIMI & NOAH Similarly, Noah Brown sat, creating the impression that he’s a penciled-in starter. "Those are the facts.'' He’s still the favorite to be Prescott’s backup, but his lead over Will Grier didn’t increase Saturday night. Or is Rush “catching down” to Grier. He struggled from the start, trying to force the ball to Tolbert. Rush could have been intercepted multiple times. “I think we all recognize that this isn’t the regular season. THE INJURY GODS Among the premium guys, only Tyron Smith came out of Denver dinged up, and that is a minor issue coming out of the Thursday workout. Subscribe to the Cowboys Fish Report on YouTube for constant daily Cowboys live-stream podcasts and reports! He’s emerged from a pack that includes Simi Fehoko, who big-bodied his way to scoring Dallas’ only touchdown on a 12-yard pass from Ben DiNucci in the final minutes of the game. He was targeted seven times by Rush and ended up with only two catches for 10 yards, with a drop, leaving the only good news being that he’s smart enough to admit the goofs. WHO'S THE BOSS? In Thursday’s joint practice at Denver, the Broncos seemed to make a point to throw at Cowboys second-year corner Kelvin Joseph. FLAG FOOTBALL Dallas finished with 17 penalties for 129 yards during Saturday night’s loss. And the constants from last year - including a coaching staff that’s proven unable to fix it - deserves scrutiny.

Coming off a season in which the Dallas Cowboys were the most penalized team in the league last year, penalties were once again a problem against the Denver Broncos Saturday night. Due to the sloppiness of what we’ve come to expect in preseason, there was plenty of highs and lows for the Dallas Cowboys Saturday night.
