Ravens vs. Titans Pre-Week 1: Everything to Watch For (Baltimore Beatdown)

It's unlikely we see Rashod Bateman tonight. Same goes for James Proche, who missed Tuesday's practice. The Ravens may also be missing Devon Williams, Bailey ...

He looks more comfortable and is battling with the best of the Ravens’ receivers and holding his own for a rookie. That said, it’s known that he was considered more of a project and will need time, but to see how far he’s already come with the Ravens and Offensive Line Coach Joe D’Alessandris is valuable. Honestly, a few three and outs by the Ravens offense isn’t so bad as we’ll get the opportunity to watch Stout work. The reigning training camp interception leader (2) should get a lengthy amount of run tonight and that’s a good thing. This is the time to get Wallace to get back in the conversation. This is the guy I may be the most interested in watching this preseason. The preseason is for the rookies. Both aren’t in game shape yet, so this is the time for Davis to earn a greater role. With Lamar Jackson not playing tonight, it’s up to Huntley to make the most of it before Anthony Brown and Brett Hundley get their run. He needs some consistency and that’s what to look for out of Moon tonight. If he can open some running lanes or stonewall the pass rush for his reps, look for this to become a bigger competition. They’ve already done so, with arguably the most talented safety group in the NFL, with players to spare.

3 Predictions for Ravens-Titans (russellstreetreport.com)

Game one of the Baltimore Ravens preseason is here, and they take on the Tennessee Titans. Here are 3 predictions.

This is the kind of fun the Ravens get to have in the preseason. Watching the running backs at training camp, Badie should be ahead of Davis. Hill has been very good in camp, especially as a receiving option out of the backfield. On the subject of first impressions, let’s talk about another rookie. The Ravens have four running backs that should all get some work in this game. In a very impressive rookie class, he may be quietly the readiest to do his job at a high level. Badie has shown a lot of positives in camp. Here are three predictions for your first glimpse of the 2022 Ravens in a game situation. In practice, Stout has lived up to the lofty expectations of being selected in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He’s shown off his booming leg strength. The Ravens have played the Titans in the playoffs twice in the past three years which renewed the old hatred. The offense has run much smoother with Lamar Jackson under center than Tyler Huntley in practice. The hang time on some of his punts has been impressive. The Ravens play the Tennessee Titans in their first preseason game.

Ravens' 20-Game Preseason Winning Streak Put to the Test (BaltimoreRavens.com)

The Ravens haven't lost a preseason game since 2015 and will look to win their 21st straight preseason game Thursday night.

The coaches and medical staff put ample research and thought into designing a different training camp schedule after the team was decimated by injuries in 2021. However, competing at a high level every day is part of the Ravens' culture, a mindset that has contributed to their preseason success. Thursday night will be their first game since the decision to change their approach to training camp this year, with more emphasis on execution and a reduced amount of physical contact.

A change in routine in training camp could lead to a change in fortune in the preseason. To surpass where Baltimore currently stands, Buffalo would have to win every preseason game through 2025 and then win the preseason opener in 2026. You can’t play in the league forever, but my time there was great.” “It’s kind of putting a stamp on your career and putting something on your résumé. You came in and played, even though people consider it to be the end of the game. "So it's not like the house is taking a beating. “I think it’s a testament to [current general manager] Eric [DeCosta], Harbs [John Harbaugh] and [former GM] Ozzie [Newsome] and the way they build the roster,” said kickerJustin Tucker, who is one of three current Ravens players whose tenure has spanned the entire preseason winning streak. As Baltimore opens the preseason Thursday night, the Ravens have won 20 straight preseason games, eclipsing the Vince Lombardi-coached Green Bay Packers, who won 19 in a row from 1959 to 1962. There have been 59 players added through the draft, free agency or trade over the past two offseasons (65%).“I don’t even want to talk about [the streak], because I don’t want anything to happen,” Ricard said, obviously leery of jinxing his team. There’s also a sense of widespread accomplishment when counting up the number of players who’ve helped this summertime superiority. They couldn’t guess how many games in a row Baltimore had won or how many years the run has been going on.This shouldn’t come as a surprise considering the roster turnover. Woodrum, 29, played for seven NFL teams, including 13 months in Baltimore, and yet he never got on the field for a regular-season game. A week after that, he threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to running back Taquan Mizzell, which proved to be the game winner against the Buffalo Bills.

Ravens vs. Titans Pre-Week 1: The streak, pivot point players ... (Baltimore Beatdown)

While it may not have the import of a competitive NFL game, a case can be made that the preseason at the very least sets the stage for them. So how will that ...

For one thing, the idea of “emphasizing” fouls is a bit silly, and for another, calling multiple of them over the course of the game can seriously slow the game flow down and bring unwelcome breaks to the action. While actual issues could arise from this, especially as the NFL further embraces the world of sports gambling, right now it’s still just a bit of a headache. A specific focus will be on Mike Macdonald who comes to Baltimore with plenty of hype as the league’s youngest defensive coordinator, and with very big shoes to fill in his former boss Wink Martindale’s absence. The same could be said at wide receiver, but the stakes feel even higher when it comes to that room (as it often does with the Ravens). Behind them is an opportunity to seize the fourth, fifth, or sixth spot at the position, and the competition sounds to be fairly wide open (pun intended) as we head into game one. After a down year for illegal contact fouls in 2021, it sounds like they may be due for a serious comeback this season. The Ravens are an organization that pride themselves on squad depth year in and year out, and it’s certainly a commendable approach that’s brought them a lot of success. Outside ‘backer would probably fall into the latter category of the two mentioned; that is, they have some star power in the form of Justin Houston, Odafe Oweh, and Tyus Bowser (all falling into varying definitions of “star”) but lack some punch in the back end of their room. Whether that affects the Ravens at all will be hard to judge, but it’s something to consider nonetheless. Another reason is that Harbaugh was badly burned by the loss of J.K. Dobbins in a preseason game this time last year. By nature, the preseason is a transient period, with changing rosters not only year-to-year, but game to game, with motivations differing for everyone. Whether it’s tracking a storyline, seeing camp battles you’ve been reading about play out on an actual stage, or watching a player on the bubble step up in a big way and give the coaching staff something to think about, there’s plenty of authentic drama to take away from this time of year despite what many say.

Faalele has obviously worked hard this summer and it paid off in his debut, and he threw a nice block on Mike Davis' first-quarter touchdown run. Stout clearly has a huge leg and he showed no jitters in his debut. In his third season, Harrison knows this is a key year for him and he played with a sense of urgency. His presence only adds to Baltimore's already deep safety core, as a smart safety with a nose for the football. He made a superb leaping catch in the second quarter that displayed his athleticism. The undrafted rookie from Fort Valley State entered training camp as a long shot to make the roster, but he had two acrobatic catches when he simply elevated over defenders to make plays, including a 14-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter.

One of the biggest determining factors for the Ravens’ 2022 season is how much the offensive line can bounce back from a poor season a year ago. He didn’t perform well, and PFF didn’t have him down for a single run stop. Maybe it’s one game, but this has the making of a common theme in Baltimore. A guy goes off in camp, making plays again and again but when the lights are on and fans are in the stands, the yards and targets dwindle. Lately, Seymour has been a strong competitor in practice. Arguably the third-best of any receiver, behind Proche and Bateman. Tonight, he finished with two catches on two targets for 15 yards. Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh didn’t make it sound serious, but it still is time he won’t be practicing and those reps will be going to his direct competitors. He also put a pass-rushing linebacker on their butt with a block that made the crowd react. In the first exhibition game for the Ravens, Davis seemed to make the most of his reps for the running backs. In total, Stone finished with two tackles, one for loss, one quarterback hit, two passes defensed and an interception. Tonight was a strong showing by the rookie defensive lineman. On one drive, Stone notched a tackle for loss, an end zone pass breakup and a leaping interception off a deflection. A big-bodied, high-point receiver who Lamar Jackson can trust opposite wide receivers Rashod Bateman, James Proche and Devin Duvernay. Tonight, he hauled in four catches for 62 yards and a touchdown. His releases were fast and strong, and he turned his reps into chain-moving, point-scoring catches.

NFL.com's Grant Gordon believes the "Ravens have a special rookie." The Ravens didn't draft Likely to block, but he'll at least need to be competent in that area in this offense to regularly be on the field. "Stout's showing Thursday was an example of just why a club known for its special teams prowess pounced on Stout. He was booming punts and kickoffs throughout the Ravens' NFL-record 21st straight preseason win… "Isaiah Likely was a hero and a goat all in the same half. While punting is the punter's primary job, holding for Justin Tucker has the masses paying direct attention to Stout during field goal attempts. In the first half, he didn't get any push on an end-around for Wallace. On another carry by running back Justice Hill, he seemed to leave his defender after a quick engagement. "The fourth-round pick out of Coastal Carolina caught four passes for 44 yards, including an impressive contested grab over a defender. He went up over Tennessee linebacker Chance Campbell to make a 22-yard catch, the type of play you often see Andrews make…You also saw what Likely needs to work on. "If you watched the game, you certainly see why the Ravens have been so impressed with fourth-round tight end Isaiah Likely. He had four catches for 44 yards. On Thursday, quarterback Tyler Huntley once again led the Ravens to victory in the preseason.
