Uma Pemmaraju, one of the first Fox News Channel anchors, died at age 64 on Tuesday. A cause of death was not immediately made public.

The popular anchor worked at WBZ in the 1990s before moving on to FOX News and Bloomberg News. WBZ announced her death Tuesday. She was 64.

“We are deeply saddened by the death of Uma Pemmaraju, who was one of FOX News Channel’s founding anchors and was on the air the day we launched,” FOX News Media CEO Suzanne Scott said in a statement. She once witnessed a pair of masked men rob a Star Market in Brighton while setting up for an evening news shot, the Globe reported. Journalism already ran in the family — her grandfather was a newspaper publisher in south India, Pemmaraju told the paper.
