The report also details a physical altercation between Lo and Velozo. After Velozo allegedly grabbed a bottle from Lo’s table, the BJJ star took the man down and held him.

The suspect has been arrested and identified as a Brazilian military police officer, Henrique Otávio Oliveira Velozo. Shortly after the news broke many in the combat sports world took to social media to share their condolences. On Sunday, Combate reported that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu legend, Leandro Lo, had been shot and killed in Brazil. Early reports indicate that Lo was involved in an altercation with the suspect, who left the area and returned hours later and shot Lo in the head twice, killing him.

Just earlier this year, he won another World Championship in California, the site reported. After the pair were separated, Velozo allegedly pulled out a gun, firing a round into Lo’s forehead, according to the site. Witnesses said Velozo grabbed a bottle from Lo’s table and that the fighter took the cop down and held him, according to the outlet, citing a police report.
