The superstar is set to play Harley Quinn, and her personal style couldn't be more perfect for the role.
So, while Gaga may have to do some serious method acting work to get into the iconic character—perhaps returning to her beloved Stanislavski method, which she used for House of Gucci—you could say her wardrobe is already covered. The word sexy always comes to mind, whatever Halsey’s ensemble may be—after all, the bad girl is known to often deceive her attackers using her sexuality. It’s official: Lady Gaga is set to star as Harley Quinn in the Joker sequel alongside Joaquin Phoenix, who will reprise his villainous titular role in the upcoming movie-musical.
Lady Gaga is now an A-list actor. What are some of her best roles?
Her performance was almost universally praised and put her in a position to be considered an actor of merit as well as an audience draw. Regardless, the movie proved that her performance in our number one pick was no fluke and that Gaga can rightly be considered an A-list actor as well as an A-list singer and performer. Gaga played the mysterious and terrifying witch Scáthach in her second role for the sixth season of FX horror anthology American Horror Story. Scáthach serves as the big bad of the season and also as an opportunity for Gaga to show off her horror chops. The gorgeous socialite and owner of the Hotel Cortez kept her youth and beauty over the years with a diet of human blood. Aside from her many cameos and appearances as herself or personifications of herself in her own videos and other projects, the singer has only appeared as a supporting or leading actress in three films and two TV series. Surprisingly, though Gaga is easily one of the most easily recognized media figures of the twenty-first century, her abilities as an actress are only just starting to be truly appreciated.
You've gotta love a casting decision that just makes perfect sense, and Lady Gaga as some unnamed love interest for Joaquin Phoenix in the musical Joker ...
Throw in some musical numbers, some murders, and a wholly unearned argument about how society treats mental illness, and you’ve got Joker 2. We don’t specifically know who Lady Gaga is playing, but there really is just the one iconic and canonical love interest for the Joker in every other Joker story, and that’s Harley Quinn. The first movie never committed to Phoenix’s Joker being the Joker—as in the one who fights Batman and poisons the reservoir every other week—but he was definitely a Joker, and Folie À Deux could easily do the same thing with Gaga as a Harley Quinn. Maybe they never even call her Harley Quinn, but that’s the story people know and by not saying otherwise, everybody involved has to know that that’s what people are going to assume. You’ve gotta love a casting decision that just makes perfect sense, and Lady Gaga as some unnamed love interest for Joaquin Phoenix in the musical Joker sequel Folie À Deux is perfect.

For a couple of months now, there have been rumors going around that Lady Gaga would be part of the Joker sequel and she would be playing Harley Quinn.
Other than the Batman, this can only allude to Quinn, a character so closely tied to the Joker ever since she made her debut in the 90s. For a couple of months now, there have been rumors going around that Lady Gaga would be part of the Joker sequel and she would be playing Harley Quinn. While the reaction to this was mixed at first, it allowed the idea to take root. The post also stated that the said movie is set to come out on October 4, 2024.
One of Lady Gaga's three accused dognappers, Jaylin White, 20, was sentenced to four years in federal court for second-degree robbery.
After I was attacked, my family was flown out and I had trauma therapists flown to me. "I will lead a purposeful life that serves others and myself, and that's my wish for you. Jackson "was arrested Wednesday nearly five months after he was released from jail while awaiting trial 'due to a clerical error,' the county Sheriff's Department said in a statement," says NPR. "Fischer was walking three French bulldogs belonging to the singer when he was shot, and two of the dogs were stolen in the 1500 block of North Sierra Bonita Avenue, near Sunset Boulevard. Surveillance video from a home security system shows Fischer walking on the sidewalk when a white sedan pulls up and stops in the street, with two people jumping from the back seat and saying, "Give it up,'" reports CNS. "A struggle ensued and one gunshot was fired, prompting Fischer to fall to the ground, screaming. The assailants each grabbed one dog — named Koji and Gustav — and got back into the rear seat of the car, leaving Fischer on the ground yelling for help." The theft of two of the singer's French bulldogs made headlines back in February 2021, but the trauma has been ongoing for Ryan Fischer, the dogwalker who was brutally shot and attacked during the theft.
James Howard Jackson, 19, is arrested five months after a "clerical error" and his mistaken release.
Ryan Fischer sustained chest injuries in the attack, and said on Instagram a month later he had suffered a collapsed lung, and had to have part of his lung removed. One demanded that the dog walker "give it up" before a struggle in which a gunshot could be heard, and the dog walker seen falling to the ground screaming. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department had offered a reward of up to $5,000 (£4,105) for information leading to his arrest, saying that he should be considered "armed and dangerous."
James Jackson, 19, was mistakenly released from police custody in April.
The pets were stolen but subsequently returned unharmed two days later after the singer offered a $500,000 reward. In July the U.S. Marshall Service announced a substantial financial reward was being offered for tips leading to his arrest. Jaylin White, 20, pleaded no contest to one count of second-degree robbery and admitted to an allegation that a member of the group involved in the robbery was armed during the incident.
James Howard Jackson, accused of shooting a man during the theft of Lady Gaga's French bulldogs in 2021, was released from jail by mistake in April.
Jackson is charged in the Feb. 24, 2021, shooting of dog walker Ryan Fischer. James Howard Jackson, 19, was arrested in Palmdale, a city north of L.A., the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. Almost four months after he was mistakenly freed from custody in Los Angeles, a man accused of shooting Lady Gaga’s dog walker in a robbery was captured Wednesday, officials said.
Lady Gaga officially confirmed via Twitter her role opposite of Academy Award winner Joaquin Phoenix in the upcoming Joker sequel from Warner Bros.
Margot Robbie has recently been the figure attached to the character, having played Quinn in Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey, and James Gunn's 2021 film The Suicide Squad. Gaga confirmed her casting through social media, posting a brief musical teaser that showcased Phoenix and her character dancing to an instrumental version of the notable jazz number "Cheek to Cheek." Joker: Folie à Deux will be a sequel to the 2019 film Joker, which starred Joaquin Phoenix as the emblematic clown prince of crime.
A closer look at Lady Gaga's best red carpet outfits through the years, including her 'meat dress,' Met Gala looks and more fashion.
During the awards season for her film, “A Star Is Born,” Lady Gaga had several memorable red carpet fashion moments. One of her most standout looks from the press tour was at the film’s London premiere, where Lady Gaga whirled around on the red carpet wearing a deep purple, silk chiffon dress from Gucci’s spring 2022 ready-to-wear collection. Her early career style moments include looks at the Grammy Awards, like her celestial-inspired Armani Privé dress in 2010, and when she famously arrived in an egg in 2011, later “hatching” on stage during her performance.
The musical Joker sequel adding Lady Gaga has me hopeful and fearful in equal measure.
Gaga is a force to be reckoned with and a canvas like Harley Quinn suits her perfectly. Hey, maybe it won’t. But it will be fascinating to watch something so original, and in a world of cape and spandex sequels and multiverses, that should be enough. Those who have not been following her career closely have been dismissive of somebody who is ‘just a singer’ joining the cast, but those concerns are faulty. For one thing, it’s rumoured to be a musical (Cheek to Cheek playing in the teaser, with its clear links to Swing Time, also point to this), so Gaga’s voice and possibly even songwriting abilities make her stand out above other actors. In both Suicide Squad movies, she is the lesser of two evils - plus the first one just makes her character Brooklyn Bimbo and is saved by Robbie’s independent character work. Lady Gaga is Harley Quinn, and all is right with the world.
