Sonny Literally Pulls Chad Off the Bar When He Goes On a Bender ... (Soaps.com)

Thursday, August 4, 2022: Today on Days of Our Lives, Chad drowns his grief, Xander and Sarah suspect Gwen, and Nicole...

While Xander got down on one knee with a ring, Sarah popped the question with a cake.

When Sarah decided she wanted to have an abortion, Kristen blackmailed Xander into helping her and Rolf transfer the embryo to her womb. Xander set out to prove himself to her, while Sarah wouldn’t let any of his detractors (who had a point, by the way) come between them.

Xander wouldn’t let a little thing like a fake affair with his cousin get in their way, so he continued to try and win Sarah back. However, he had just reunited with the previously presumed dead Nicole. Not wanting to disrupt their reunion, Sarah enlisted Xander’s help to keep it a secret.

The Xarah ship launched when the criminal and the good girl met upon his return to Salem in 2019. He misses and falls to the ground. Back at their hotel room, Xander recounts to Sarah his disastrous meeting with the cops. They realize they have to prove their suspicion, so Xander suggests they search her room for the mask. A giggling Chad clings to Sonny, who drags him into the Kiriakis mansion. Abe finds Paulina drinking a martini in the Square. She orders one for him and they engage in flirty banter. He blames himself though for not calling the cops when he found the mugger trying to steal tips.

'Days of Our Lives,' NBC Mainstay Since 1965, Moves to Peacock (The New York Times)

The soap opera will be shown exclusively on the network's streaming service, ending its 57-year run on broadcast TV.

But “Days of Our Lives” powered on, even as it attracted fewer than two million viewers per episode in recent years, far below the nearly 10 million who watched in the 1970s when it took over as daytime’s top-rated serial. For more than a decade, cancellation rumors have dogged “Days of Our Lives,” which follows a collection of characters in the fictional Midwestern town of Salem. In 2007, Jeff Zucker, then the president of NBC Universal Television, said the show was unlikely to continue past 2009. “Days of Our Lives” debuted on Nov. 8, 1965, as a half-hour program and expanded to an hour in 1975.
