Depending on which version of the game you have, you’ll either be attending Narania (Scarlet) or Uva (Violet). As part of your curriculum, you’ll be embarking on a “treasure hunt” throughout the Paldea region. This isn’t the first time that Pokémon has experimented with an unconventional gym system. You’ll be playing as a student at an academy, and beating some of the toughest trainers in the region is just part of your school assignment.

All Pokémon in the Paldea region have the ability to Terastallize, and they can gain special powers from doing so. Trainers will need to first obtain a Tera Orb to Terastallize their Pokémon, and use it to enact a special battle transformation. It's been revealed that each Pokémon can change forms between the Sprinting Build/Drive Mode, Swimming Build/Aquatic Mode, or Gliding Build/Glide Mode. These forms help players move more quickly, explore bodies of water, and jump from place to place as well as glide. The Paldean Wooper is a variant on a pre-existing Pokémon, and like its name suggests, can only be found in Paldea. These Poison/Ground-type variants are classified as Poison Fish Pokémon and cover their bodies with a poisonous film. Players can explore it together by joining each other's games for co-op play and work together in new Tera Raid Battles that support up to four simultaneous Trainers at once. It's a favorite of people who love to cook, since the yeast can be used for specific dishes.

But Scarlet and Violet will also have co-op play for up to four total trainers, expanding the ways you and your friends can enjoy the new region of Paldea.

Even though this third trailer provided a lot of information about Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, such as the region's name and battle gimmick, the video didn't reveal too many new monsters. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are changing that with Paldean Wooper, and possibly its evolution. The Pokemon Company released new details about Pokemon Scarlet and Violet during today's Pokemon Presents, including a longer trailer as well as an explanatory video that covered all the news.
