One fierce opponent to her policies is Kelley, a 40-year-old real estate broker who gained a following starting in 2020 when he protested the removal of a Confederate statue and helped organize protests against Whitmer at the Michigan Capitol. Their attempt to unseat Whitmer has been occasionally dramatic -- beginning in May, when the two leading Republican challengers were kicked off the ballot for not having enough valid signatures, officials said. Dixon, 44, was the Trump-endorsed favorite. When the COVID-19 pandemic started, Whitmer garnered national attention for implementing some of the toughest masking and social distancing requirements in the state. Dixon and the other GOP hopefuls boast a variety of backgrounds, including a pastor and a wealthy entrepreneur. Perhaps the most high-profile gubernatorial race in the nation begins to play out Tuesday -- between the unopposed Democratic incumbent Gretchen Whitmer and a slew of Republican challengers looking to win their party's nomination to challenge her.

Hill and Wagner will square off in November. In the 108th State House District, where Beau LaFave is term-limited, David Prestin won a four-way GOP primary.

Bowers testified in June about the pressure he faced to overturn the state's 2020 election results from former President Donald Trump and others. The state's open, non-partisan primary system in which the top two finishers regardless of party advance to November's general election made them more difficult targets for Trump and his supporters. While lawmakers in the state can still try to pass restrictive abortion laws, courts in Kansas have recognized a right to abortion under the state constitution. "They believe we should be able to make our own health care decisions, and they will vote accordingly, even in the face of misleading campaigns." And in Missouri, the political comeback of a former governor was shut down. Gibbs, meanwhile, backed Trump's lies about widespread fraud in the 2020 election. In return, he was censured by his party, called "unfit to serve" -- and now has lost his primary for a state Senate seat. Democrats saw a tight race between Maricopa County recorder Adrian Fontes and state Rep. Reginald Bolding. But the early results were largely mail-in ballots. Wade and end the federal protection of abortion access. , the conservative commentator endorsed by Trump in the final days of the race and backed by large factions of the Michigan Republican establishment, won the state's GOP primary to take on Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, CNN projected. Polls have long shown that voters overwhelmingly support protecting abortions rights.

Two more Republicans who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump are still locked in tight primaries early Wednesday morning after GOP Rep.
Tuesday features one incumbent-versus-incumbent race in Michigan, Stevens beating out Rep. Andy Levin for the Democratic Party’s nomination in a deep blue district after redistricting. Other competitive districts include one in Kansas, where Democratic Rep. Sharice Davids and Republican Amanda Adkins are headed to a November rematch. Kansas voters rejected the amendment by a little under two-to-one, a stunning rebuke that could be the first sign of major voter backlash to the Supreme Court’s decision. Mark Finchem, a state lawmaker who scored an early endorsement from Trump, outpaced a splintered field that also includes Beau Lane, an advertising executive running out of the business wing of the party, with Ducey’s support. Instead, Kansans rejected a state a constitutional amendment that would have said there is no explicit right to an abortion, the first time voters have been able to weigh in on abortion policy since the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision earlier this year. The Democrats are hoping Gibbs is easier to beat in November than Meijer would be. Herrera Beutler is fighting for second place in her district with the Trump-endorsed Joe Kent. The stunningly wide margin in the otherwise red state is an early sign that the Supreme Court’s decision could totally upend the midterms. Trump backed Lake early, while term-limited Gov. Doug Ducey and former Vice President Mike Pence threw their support behind Robson. Lake has built a small lead through Wednesday morning as ballot counting continued through the night. Meijer lost to Gibbs in the Republican primary, in a district that got significantly bluer during redistricting. And two more members of that small group are locked in tight races further west. The primaries are testing Trump’s hold on the party.

He faced off with businessman Jim Lamon, who piled cash into a partisan "audit" of the 2020 results in Maricopa County and state Attorney General Mark Brnovich, who recently returned a report debunking a popular right-wing myth around "dead voters" but has mixed his defenses of the state's election integrity with indulgences of conspiracy-minded activists. In Arizona, Republicans are still waiting to see who will take on Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly. The crowded Republican field had been dominated by election deniers. Tuesday also provided voters with their first chance to directly respond to the US Supreme Court's striking down of federal abortion rights earlier this summer -- an issue that national Democrats hope will energize their base in the fall. In Missouri, state Attorney General Eric Schmitt will win the GOP Senate nomination, CNN projects. The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) had backed Stevens and its new super PAC, United Democracy Project, spent more than $4 million to boost her bid. A conservative commentator who had coalesced support from prominent Republicans in the state, Dixon beat back criticism Meijer's primary in his western Michigan district had become a flashpoint in both parties' national infighting because Gibbs was the beneficiary of Democratic meddling. Trump's loss in those battleground states two years ago seeded right-wing anger and turned Republican primary campaigns up and down the ballot into referendums on his election lies. Dixon will be taking on Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who is seeking a second term. The party's House campaign arm, believing that Gibbs would be a less viable general election candidate, ran more than $300,000 in ads ostensibly attacking his alliance with Trump with the goal of boosting him in the primary. Trump's pick will win the GOP gubernatorial nod in Michigan, CNN projects. Down the ballot in Arizona, the favorite for the GOP nomination for secretary of state -- and the chance to run the state's next round of elections -- was Trump-backed election-denying state Rep. Mark Finchem, who attended the January 6, 2021, rally in Washington. Democratic Secretary of State Katie Hobbs will win the Democratic nod for governor, CNN projects.

In 2003 an adjacent land owner donated a piece of land to the cemetery. The City of Lansing received ownership in 1960. “I’m looking forward to debating Elissa Slotkin on the historic inflation, gas prices, illegal immigration, food prices, and recession she’s brought us in her short time in Congress.” Barrett started out with competition for the nomination in the form of Jacob Hagg, but Hagg was disqualified from the Republican primary. That’s why my team reached out to the Barrett campaign this evening to challenge him to two televised debates, one in each of the major media markets of the new district.” On the Democrat side, John Willis is running unopposed. Barrett represented District 71 from 2015 to 2019, following a 22 year career in the Army. The odd situation results from Slotkin being the current Representative for Michigan’s 8th congressional district, but is running in District 7 because of redistricting brought on by the US Census. She was one of 15 Democrats who did not vote for Nancy Pelosi (D) to become speaker for the 116th Congress. According to the Bureau, most of the fake signatures came from the same signature gatherers. However, Tuesday night may reflect on their odds in a new district when they meet in the November election. However, five other candidates did collect the necessary signatures to run.
With the primaries now in the rear-view mirror and the November general election firmly in the headlights, here are some key takeaways for the LGBTQ+.
Their agenda is to make you fear the gay agenda, but I am not the cause of your problems. He’ll face Republican Richard Sharland of Plymouth in November, but has a good chance of winning the district following redistricting, which would place him in the same legislature that seemingly rejected him based on his sexuality. Having been pushed to the extreme right, there is no indication she will moderate her views if returned to the Michigan Senate as expected. Meanwhile, Republican Secretary of State candidate Kristina Karamo has said churches that hang a rainbow flag are “agents of Satan,” while also making claims connecting premarital sex and the LGBTQ+ community with pedophilia and bestiality. My community is not the cause of your problems.” The same can be said for reelecting both Attorney General Dana Nessel and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson. Their GOP counterparts have signed on wholeheartedly with the rabidly anti-LGBTQ+ agenda put forth by the Republican Party. He’s also ready to hit the ground running, having worked for almost a decade as a staffer for two Southfield state legislators and helping to craft legislation aimed at reducing commercial blight and promoting open government. Perhaps the best chance of that happening is in Oakland County’s 20th District, where Noah Arbit easily won a three-way race for the Democratic nomination. And now I will fight for you.” “To every gay kid, every LGBTQ kid in this state or in this country, I want you to know: There are many people who will try to tell you who you are or what you can be,” said Arbit. “Do not listen to them. To be fair, all of the GOP candidates held similar (if not worse) positions, but the importance of returning Whitmer for a second term is now crystal clear. I have walked in your shoes, I have fought your fights.
